I rarely give a restaurant a five star but rock and sake is my favorite sushi by far. The service is great, the ambiance is fun, and the happy hour prices are unbeatable. The food is amazinnnnnnng. They have the most delicious tuna steak, spicy tuna dip with wonton chips, and the rolls are to die for. Definitely a place worth seeing!

I love love love love love their special rolls — so good. The fulton roll is an excellent reg roll. The atmosphere is fun and drinks pretty good too(not the strongest though) Why not 5 stars? Well the waitstaff is beyond surly… if the food wasn’t 5 star I wouldn’t even return. Even when we have sat at the sushi bar to avoid any interaction with a waiter, who didn’t even bring water, he still expected a tip and was super rude when we tipped the sushi chef’s instead(why should he get a ship for seating us? and he did that like a sullen teenager…) Anyway, still go here if you like inventive rolls with delightful flavor and texture combos. If you want more traditional sushi(yawn), then Bonsai next door is good, and Fatty Fish(in glen cove though) is amazing.

The sushi here is always fresh and high quality. The specialty rolls are big and delicious! The servers I’ve had are always attentive and more than happy to make recommendations. I love the modern, sleek décor of this restaurant. They also seem to draw in a younger(mid-20’s and 30’s) crowd. I’ve never been there for the bar scene(I saw someone mentioned a «frat» like feel) but I can honestly say I’ve never had a frat like feeling during the dinner hours(both weekday and weekend). It can get a bit pricey — especially because it’s so easy to just order a million rolls. Parking is difficult, as it is for most restaurants on Main St. Just gotta hope to luck out on a metered spot or do a little walking.

This place is exaclty as one would expect from the name, you go there to do sake bombs and eat americanized fake sushi. Point in case, they were out of Toro and Uni, 2 things that real sushi places aways stock. That being said if you like rolls they are very good, especially if you like to not tatse the fish at all, which I think a lot of people will prefer. The Rockn roll was pretty tasty, I cant name what was it it because there were like 15 different things involved but it was good. I couldnt say that any single roll was bad, all edible. The décor was modern and clean, the ambience was of a frat house but that was because of the clientele on the night we went(Friday). I heard it is much better during the week. My conclusion is Go if you like rolls, Don’t if you want real sushi, and Go during the week. I would probably go back if I were in Port Washington again.

Sushi and a lot of fun. A friend has been going here for some time apparently and she dragged me here for a few cocktails after work — and I have to say, it was a great little place. Oddly for a sushi place, they have a happy hour at the bar area and you can get a decent selection of rolls and apps, all in the $ 3 — $ 3.50 range. You might think that they would skimp on the stuff due to the low cost, but the rolls are normal sized and there is enough selection to fill everyone up. The guy at the bar was a champ and we had a good time. The atmosphere is definitely lounge-like: cool lighting and sleek furnishings complete the picture. Prices on the regular menu were very good– unlike many sushi places where they clobber you over the head like you were a carp… Restrooms: actually made me laugh as it was all red and mirrors and funky and so it reminded me of a strip club bathroom sort of. All in all a great time. Parking on the street

Cool selection of sushi rolls that actually taste really good. Atmosphere takes a few minutes to adjust to; the place is hard to spot without an awning or noticeable sign(just a metal worked placard near the door — and it is right next to another sushi place). First few feet you think, «I’m in the wrong place.» Looks like a townie bar, then it’s some little table leading to a sushi prep and tasting section. Long into short, it’s gets a return visit. Hint, for two, order five rolls and no app; more than enough.

Cool place, nice atmosphere. The rolls were all pretty good. I recommend the Dream Roll, and the Dancing Salmon. They had especially good brown rice, which we get on all our rolls and sushi. The edamame, and crab shumai were also good. There was only one roll we didn’t care for, just because it was really small and didn’t taste like much, I think it was called Dynamite. They give you a sheet of paper with all the rolls, and sushi listed that you check off what you want and put any substitutions, like sauce on the side etc. It was different, and it worked out well, everything came out the way we ordered it. The bathrooms are worth checking out, a projector plays godzilla on the floor which was pretty funny and cool. Overall, it is a good place.

I read wonderful things about this place, so when my husband and I went there recently I was looking forward to some quality Japanese. Where did it all go wrong? I typically order fish and not rolls at sushi places, perhaps that was the problem, I just do not know. We came in for a snack and not a full meal so decided on a couple of rolls-they were just okay, actually not very good… I am not a roll kind of gal, so it is hard for me to review… but I will say that the atmosphere is very cool and trendy… and this place has a great happy hour. oh, what the heck… i’ll be back…

I feel like the party pooper of reviews for this place, but i was unimpressed. I went today with 2 friends for dinner. We walked in and a guy greeted us but we didn’t hear what he said and he was kind of walking away as he was talking. We sat at a table and checked out the menu. The pricing wasn’t so bad. Between the 3 of us we ordered edamame, 2 rolls, and a sushimi appetizer. The edamame came out and was a smaller portion than I’ve seen at most places, but that was fine. It was hot, cooked right, and salty. Yum. The sushimi appetizer came out. My friends didn’t really think it tasted that great. If it had any taste at all. The rolls came out and we were surprised at how small they were. I’m talking super teeny. They didn’t have too much flavor to them either. We couldn’t even tell the difference flavor-wise as to which roll was which. I’d go back if someone really really wanted to go, but I’d try to talk them into going somewhere else first.

Nothing else to say, accept it is really as good as it gets! The combination of eclectic rolls and atmosphere are great for a date or a night out with some friends. Make sure to try the LSU and Mohawk Roll, amazing!

I’m pretty new to sushi after many years of avoiding it. I was lucky enough to have my special lady take me there. We are both pretty health conscious when it comes to food. More her than me, but she is a good influence on me. Their rolls were diverse and different from other places that I have gone to in NYC. This place could’ve easily been in the City. The atmosphere was alive and it catered to all age groups. We ordered 4 different rolls, all made with brown rice. They were all awesome!!! Who would’ve thought a place like this was in a small town like Port Washington? I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I’m looking forward to some more visits there!

Whatttt! I totally thought I rated this place ages ago… I think it’s because I tell people about it all the time because it was so good(well at least the roll I got anyway) OMG Rock-n-sake! I still miss you. The funny thing about Long Island was that it was hard to find an even decent sushi place in most of those towns. Usually we’d leave the place disgusted, but this place. I don’t know. it was like a gem in a dirty pile of rubble. First off, I only got one roll there, and then I became obsessed with the roll and made my boyfriend drive there like 4 times in 7 days(it was like a 25 min. drive) so I could repeatedly get it over and over. If you go you HAVE to get it. It was the rainbow roll. Now, this is Not your typical rainbow roll. I mean the ingredients seem like it… california roll topped with assorted fish but then you realize it says«fresh snow crab.» And let me tell you, it was fresh. I have never had real crab in my sushi ever, it was an experience, a mouth watering experience. I know its 14 dollars, but it’s the best roll I have ever eaten and I still crave it sometimes even though it’s been months and this restaurant is over 3000 miles away from my home. Minus one star for a nasty tuna appetizer we had. I forget what it was called, just stay away from the appetizer that is cooked tuna.

Really inventive rolls, very nice flavor, okay service and appropriate prices. I liked it there was something missing to make it a WOW factor for me. The environment is chic and the crowd is young which is a major plus in for the area. I am sure I will become a repeat visitor!

Great atmosphere! If you are going on a date and looking for a dark, mood-lit place, RNS is for you. The service was good, we were also seated promptly and given a table out of the way. The cocktails and sake are quite good, while the food issas not too impressive. I would recommend RNS for happy hour or some rolls.

Good, nice atmosphere for happy hour. I’ve been coming since last year(too bad their coupons sell out so quickly or else I would’ve come more). I feel like the food isn’t as great as it has been. However, I still have a love-love relationship with their dragon roll(you should see this thing, they shape crab meat into a dragon’s head, it’s a Wowzer). The crunchy dynamite is great. Along with the menu, you get a paper check-list of all the special rolls you want. They have many. They give you a 2-sided sheet menu as a dictionary of their special rolls. The bathroom’s nice and clean. The waitstaff wears nice-looking Rock-n-Sake branded shirts. I want one.

Went to RNS for the first time last Thursday and took my boyfriend there the next night. This place has 3 different areas – a bar, featuring their glorious Happy Hour pricing(5:30−7:30 M-F; $ 3 rolls, $ 4 large hot sake, $ 3.50 heap of edamame, $ 3.507pc. gyoza), a regular dining area with tables and waiters, and a sushi bar, which has been empty both times I’ve been there. The music is reminiscent of college bars(the bartender told us he just picked a random Journey song and let iTunes’ Genius feature do the rest), but that’s fine by me. They use Ozeki for their cheap sake, and boy is that stuff cheap. I almost can’t drink it it’s so pungent. However, those going just to throw back as much cheap sake as they can probably won’t notice after downing half the bottle. The $ 3 rolls are great – my favorites are the Crunchy Dynamite(tuna, salmon, tempura flakes, scallion, spicy mayo… am I missing something?) and Yellowtail and Scallion – and the portions are generous, each order consisting of six large pieces. The edamame appetizer is my other favorite thing on the HH menu, definitely more than one person should eat by themselves. Their regular menu is pretty impressive, too, with sushi prices lower than any place I’ve seen in New York so far.($ 1.50-$ 2 for most 1pc orders.) I assume that since their rolls are so good, the fish that’s in them ought to be good by itself, too. Plenty of non-fish options, too, for the less adventurous types. Finally, the décor is great, very stylish, good ambiance. Mood lighting galore, and if you check out the bathroom, you’ll be surprised to find that they project a silent version of Godzilla onto the floor for your viewing pleasure. Overall, 4 stars for great atmosphere and a lot of bang for your buck, though the Ozeki’s a little tough to swallow(but not for $ 4!).

BEST happy hour(and sushi!) in PW– get the $ 3.50 edamame and a couple $ 3 crunchy dynamite rolls, then plenty of sake and Sapporo. My coworkers and I always have a great time. My boss, who doesn’t like sushi OR going out with his employees LOVES going to RNS. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s too mood-lit/dark to pour your sake into the tiny cup, and then there’s all that wasted sake. It’s okay though– for $ 4 you can get another large.

Every time I eat at Rock N’ Sake, I feel like I’m sitting in on an episode of Sex and The City. Eclectic sushi rolls mixed with cocktails in a very modern setting makes this place tops for couples and groups wanting to taste a bit of the city but not leave Long Island. The tuna tataki is also a great appetizer, but the best thing to do is order a bunch of specialty rolls to split.

Live band on Thur night– but way too loud to sit and enjoy. The service was great and the food was fresh and very tasty. The place is small and casual but nice city like docor. They did not mind if we shared an appetizer and had some cocktails. After dinner we took a walk –which is nice to be able to do. I would definitely return.
