We regularly visit my parents in Portage and it seems that my kids like to get sick whenever we are out of town. I have visited this urgent care so many times that I feel as confident in their ability as I do my children’s pediatrician. The doctors and nurses are always so friendly and attentive. They know how to handle kids; from bringing popsicles to blowing up glove balloons. We always get in and out quickly and feel as if every question or concern has been heard and answered. If you check in online, you’ll get in even quicker! Win! The downside, in all honestly, is the front desk staff. I’ve seen the same woman at the front desk for over a year now and I have yet to see her smile. She is very short and cold with everyone who comes into the office. Luckily you only have to deal with her briefly.

My husband smashed his finger during a freak sledding accident while visiting family in MI. I told him we could just purchase a split to put his finger in, but he insisted we go somewhere to get it looked at. We arrived here early in the afternoon to a nearly empty waiting room. The staff took my husband’s information and after waiting 15 minutes he was seen. They took x-rays(and gave us a disc with a copy), explained to him his finger was broken, placed the finger in a splint, told him to follow up with his primary care doctor when we returned home, and sent us on our way. I believe we spent maybe 2 hours here total, which is less time than it usually takes in an emergency room. If you’re in need of an urgent care clinic(read: sick/injured but not bleeding profusely), I’d suggest Borgess Immediate Care.
