So… Looking at the other reviews I was so tempted to go on by. But took a chance. Sun lunch with 3 of us and got right in and our order was super fast to our table. Waitress was very nice. Will be back

This restaurant has gone down hill in the recent years. Today was the day I am not in denial that this steak and shake location is bad. I went to get the barbecue bacon burger, I didn’t want onions on it, and instead of no onions I get a totally different burger, not even bacon wedged into it. The fries were cold and bland eventhough I asked for cajun fries I didn’t taste any seasoning. the only thing they got right was the drink. In the past I used to love steak and shake but now, i’m not so sure anymore… I’m very disappointed.

Last night was the last straw. Went through the drive thru to pick up a #1 Combo Meal. Ordered, informed them I had a coupon, then proceeded to PARKINLINEFOR20MINUTES!!! Really, I’m patient normally. I really am. When I finally got up to the window, I expected at least an apology, maybe a comped meal if the customer service training you guys received was good. Nope! Instead I was told the wrong price and had to inform them again that I was using a coupon. She took my card and my coupon, ran it, and didn’t hand back the receipt with my card. I thought it was odd, but figured it would be in the bag. I asked them, since I had been sitting in line for 20 minutes, how old the food was. I was assured that it had just come up fresh. I asked if she was sure, and was ensured that yes, it was fresh. Fine. I leave and head straight home, annoyed since I received no apology for the wait, no attempt to compensate me for the inconvenience, and apathy from the staff. So, I get home, open the bag. Fries are floppy, undercooked, and cold. Burger is cold, soggy, lettuce wilted and spoiled, and the sandwich looks like someone sat on it. Everything is falling out. Needless to say, I’m pissed. I call up the location and make it vehemently known that I am livid. They offer to replace the meal, but that’s not going to cut it. You burger slingers have one freaking job, it’s not even remotely hard, and you failed epicly. Bottom line is this: My fiancé got food poisoning from food you served. He’s been painfully purging since last night, after I had to wait for 20 minutes to get it. I’ve called corporate, and they are VERY aware of the situation at this location. They have been for the past 8 months, nothing has changed, and there is no amount of retraining that will make it change. I am also going to be informing the Health Department since my fiancé might actually DIE, and I will NEVER be coming back to your location. I don’t care how many coupons you guys send. You are all SO lucky I’m not your regional manager, because I would fire every single one of you sorry excuses for human beings, starting with management and ending with the very last dishwasher.

Had to leave as we couldn’t get served. Sat at the bar expecting to be able to sit there. After a long wait, finally someone says it’s a pickup area. We left and went to Texas Roadhouse.

I wish you could give 0 stars because that’s what this place deserves. The food was mediocre at best and the service was complete crap. It took about 7 minutes before we were approached by our waiter and were allowed to order our drinks. We were never offered refills throughout our meal and our server never checked on us to see how the food was. My order was wrong and they refused to make it right. When we were done eating my friend wanted a box for her leftovers and had to go and get one herself because our server never came back to our table. Then, when we were checking out and another waitress(red head by the name of Jenna) came up and told us to cash out and leave because we were being«loudly obnoxious.» I will admit we were being slightly louder than normal, but not to the extent of being told to leave. Jenna was extremely rude and ruined my night so congratulations Steak and Shake on hiring one of the worlds worst human beings.

This place is the perfect example of what mistakes to avoid when running a restaurant. From the an unattentive staff to the poor management, this is a place to avoid. Been waiting to order as shake to go and realized nobody was going to wait on me, and when expressing my concern to the manager about the staff of 13 congregating while refusing to check on tables her response was«oh.» Yeah… they have no pride in what they do nor put any effort into running this place. Kinda heart breaking really.

Steak n Shake isn’t known for speed. If you want speed go to McDonald’s. But the food is good. The service at this location was good too.

This isn’t the first time my girlfriend and I have had problems with this location, but figured to give it another shot. Waited 5 minutes to be seated with two servers and only 3 occupied tables. It took our server a good 15 – 20 min to come back around and serve us(he looked back at us a few times and never came around). He was not friendly at all. Our cashier wasn’t friendly either. No «how was everything?» And no «thank you have a good day» etc terrible service!

I eat here frequently typically for breakfast on weekends. I was there yesterday morning. Jen was our server, she is really good. Most of the waitstaff has been there for many years unlike many other restaurants. I love the coupons they send out it really decreases the final costs on my tab. Pretty much I am always happy with my overall experience, I always get what I ordered, how I ordered it & it is served fast.

Went thru drive-thru and this dude was a jerk and definitely didn’t like his job nor himself. Didn’t want to touch my hands when giving back my change and therefore forgot to give me my receipt. Had to ask the nice Hispanic guy for the receipt and he was so pleasant in demeanor! That’s the only reason why this place receives two stars!

Went to the Portage Steak & Shake last night and had a TERRIBLE experience. Hubby and I went to the drive thru for some shakes; the place had maybe 2 – 3 cars and looked pretty empty inside. We waited over 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and have them take our order(2 shakes). Got to the window and waited 26 minutes, were never acknowledged, despite the numerous employees walking past the window. We finally left. Nearly 40 minutes in a drive thru with NO line and very little business inside, and we never even got our order. We will NOT be back.

Our food was delicious, and service was prompt and friendly. My son says they need fatter straws for shakes with cookies mixed in. Rock on, Steak & Shake!

The staff here seem like they hate their lives. Our server was courteous but not very friendly. My sandwich was supposed to be a «grilled veggie melt» but it looked like they put some sort of butter on the bread and let it sit on the grill for 5 seconds, rather than let it brown properly, so my sandwich was unappealingly soggy. Thanks but no thanks, Steak ‘n Shake. Won’t be back.

I like the food, I hate the restaurant. Slowest chain in the business, and this is the slowest. If you love Steak N Shake and just have to have it, feel free to visit. But, if you want fast service from a friendly staff, stay away.
