Wonderful shop for fun ornaments during the holiday season. Be prepared though, staff are unfriendly and not very helpful, make you feel unwelcome, real shame as the place just screams holiday festive feeling and then you meet the staff… Customer service would go a long way in this place, much needed.

Cute! Tons to look at. Various price ranges… walked out with the very cute and different earings. Will go back. Btw great place for hard to find costume pieces.

Really disappointed that they were closed on a Sunday even though their hours stated that they were open. Had my mom in town and we wanted to check it out.

One of the coolest shops in Portland! Every time I get the opportunity to come to Portland I have to go to Lush and 3 Monkeys. You can find everything from unique headbands and jewelry to crazy decorations for the house that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. The shop doesn’t seem very big but they pack a ton into the two levels and you can spend hours browsing. It’s a great place to get unique gifts for friends or for yourself. Oh, they have clothes too! And the pricing is reasonable. I love buying stuff that I know nobody else is going to find.
The staff there was super cool with my kids too. They were answering questions and interacting with them and even thanked them for being so well behaved. That was really nice of them. This shop is Portland all the way. You need to take a few minutes to check it out if you can.

This shop is seriously neat. There is such a wide variety of items here that it’s quite fun to just poke around in for a while. I’ve gotten really unique gifts here, and will keep getting really unique gifts here. Their customer service is hit or miss, but when it’s a hit, it’s just fantastic. Some things are definitely overpriced, and I’ve found some of the same things online for much cheaper at later dates, but most of their sale items are reasonable.

This place is Pier One for oddballs! Their window displays are on the level of Bergdorf and it’s the best place to check out during the holidays. If you have an inner studio Ghibil witch to be appeased, get your home shopping done during Halloween. There are two floors to check out with clothing and accessories that mainly cater towards women, but it’s worth a look regardless of who you are. I’m mad for the hats because it is way too hard to find cute chapeaus anywhere. If your sense of style is more offbeat for your home and closet, or if you’re looking for skull salt and pepper shakers, clever wall art, and a new bag, visit 3 Monkeys.

From the pictures I saw online I expected a bigger store but it’s just three small floors with staff that wasn’t that friendly. The merchandise wasn’t anything special either.

I went to go return 2 items that my Mother had bought for me for Christmas today and had the worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere.
I have recently lost a lot of weight and my Mother wasn’t sure what would fit me and wouldn’t. I did not have a paper copy of the receipt but my Mother text them to me so I could show them it was purchased at their store.
Not only was the sales associate with red hair at the counter rude to me she had permanent resting bitch face as well… Not sure if she was having a bad day or if that was just her general nature to everyone.
I was able to exchange one of the items but not the other, even though they had a plethora of said item. Since it was a sale item there was nothing they could do. My Mother spent a lot of money on both of these items and now I do not even want to wear the one that fits as it came from this store.
Please do yourself a favor if you do wish to purchase anything from this store make sure they’re crystal clear about their return policy with you, if you’re purchasing a gift, make sure you get a gift receipt from them… Not even sure if they offer that or not. As well as that you only have 7 days to return items from the purchase date.
I have the worst taste in my mouth from this store. Seemed like a cool place but after that experience I didn’t even take the time to look around as I didn’t wish to give them any of my business. I am all for keeping it local and will definitely find a place similar to this that is deserving of my time and money.
Fuck off kindly to the manager and red headed sales associate I had to endure today.

This store is eclectic and eccentric. Give yourself a lot of time if you want to look at every single thing in here.

If only for the fact that Stalin’s granddaughter manages this place. Yep. I’m serious. Now, I didn’t know this when I stopped here a few years back but I’d make it a reason to check it out.

This store had a lot of fun, quirky items for sale — and for so cheap! I had to limit myself to buying just one shirt when I wanted to buy a dress as well (not that I probably would’ve worn the dress, but I really wanted it and it was at a good price).
It reminds me of a consignment store combined with a Ross or something of the like. There were what felt like a million items in the store and I couldn’t always determine what the organization was. There’s also separate cashiers for the upstairs and downstairs; you’re not supposed to bring the items from upstairs to the level below without paying for them and vice versa (though the sales associate did let me bring my dress downstairs while I was debating buying it but still wanted to browse the rest of the store).
Everyone was really friendly! I really liked the eclectic mix of stuff that was crammed into this store. I will definitely be stopping by again — but maybe with more than just carry-​on luggage in which to tote my treasures and finds back home.

Store seems geared toward female clientele (nice variety of clothes, jewelry and bags), but there were some very unique and interesting finds for all, including but not limited to a wide variety of cast iron key holders and door knockers and ornaments.
Store must have a problem with theft, because besides the theft detector at the entrance, there were multiple signs saying camera is watching you. I didn’t think too much of it at first, but half-​way through browsing the store, a male associate followed my husband and I upstairs, watched us and followed us back downstairs. I would buy from the store, but I was a little unnerved by being followed around in the store like I was a potential criminal. That’s an automatic no buy for me when that happens.

There must be a big theft issue at this store. There is a lot of fun stuff to look at and buy but everywhere there are signs that state Smile you are on camera, or no photos, or no shopping bags upstairs. May be I was extra sensitive to the signage but it seemed like to too many negative signs. Instead of welcome it was like we are watching you.

This is my favorite store on NW 23^rd. Over the restaurants and the coffee shops, I will choose shopping here over food and drink — which is saying a lot for a foodie like me!
This is one of those stores that you cannot walk out of without buying something. Even if that something is a furry pink pen or margarita flavored gum.
It’s novelty items meets funky fashions meets killer home décor.
Their clothing sale racks always have great deals — so I end up buying a slinky little top or t-​shirt (with a funny/​sarcastic screen print) every time I enter the store — even if I am looking for nothing but an inappropriate birthday card.
I’ve purchased hats and jewelry (from upstairs) that I did not need or was looking for either — because the art lined stairwell, chandeliers and ornate mirrors sweep me up in a shopping frenzied moment. It’s one of those places that you wouldn’t be surprised to see a real life unicorn breeze through.
This is also the place that you must take out-​of-​town friends to. It has Portland written all over it — in the best way.
The prices are reasonable considering the company it keeps up and down 23^rd street.
The only downside (and this goes for all shopping and dining in NW Portland) is the lack of parking on the streets. My advice is to choose a spot up on 25^th or 26^th, grab your umbrella and skip the 30 minutes of circling to find something closer.

This is such a fun store! I always go in just to look, and never fail to find all kinds of stuff to buy… I really should just start leaving my debit card at home or accept my inability to window shop here. There is such a variety and so much to look at.
It’s a great store to find unique gifts (especially for the hard-​to-​shop-​for crowd) and the service is super friendly!

I had to use very great restraint when browsing this place. If I would have let loose I probably could have spent several hundred dollars in no time flat.
The appeal of 3 Monkeys is the fact that they have a mix of everything: cute, new clothing; vintage clothing; antiques; new furnishings; outstanding jewelry and accessory selections, and house ware. They also have cards and other nick-​nack stuff like wine stoppers.
The music they pump from their speakers comes from various iPods of the people who work there. Browsing their vintage 80s arm warmers I was jamming out to Basement Jaxx.
If you are looking for a cool gift for somebody this is where you need to shop.

The perfect black chandelier earrings: they are harder to find than you may think.
For a week I searched. I had shopped online from Amazon to EBay. I ran around, all over town from Nordstrom, and found something lovely but not quite right at whopping $ 89.00, shopped at Claire’s and found something quite close at a mere $ 10.50, but still not the perfection I had in mind.
But today, I waltzed right into 3 Monkeys, perused the jewelry which is arranged by color (thank you very much) and ta-​da! Found em. The perfect black chandelier earrings and at $ 28.00, I was sold.
I’m not sure why I didn’t think of the Monkey Store first… I usually find gobs of stuff in there. After finding the earrings, I wrapped things up and hustled my butt out of there lest I empty my bank account and have no drinking money.

What a great recommendation. A friend from Hood River mentioned this place. I was spending the day in Portland, so I made sure to go to the NE 23 Ave. district. This place is a mixture of everything you can imagine, clothing, accessories, housewares, etc. It was fun to walk around and look at everything. Prices are pretty reasonable. I ended up buying two pairs of chunky earrings, but I want to go back to get a summer dress that was so cute.

This place is a blast for window shopping (aka: shopping with no intentions of buying anything). I spent quite a long time in this shop, just browsing the tons and tons of things they have for sale.
They had an adorable dress that I really wanted to try on, but they didn’t have it in my size — bummer.
They seemed to have some pretty good sale sections, so make sure to keep an eye out for those when you go in.
