I love this bar! Owner and staff are consistently friendly and cheerful, and the Bosnian food is a step above traditional pub fare. My favorite part is that they open early when Liverpool plays, as indicated by the 25+ cheering fans at 6am today.

THE premier soccer place in Portland. One problem: it’s sometime hard to get in to see the big games. Otherwise, good European beer selection and great, authentic Bosnian food. Pricey, however.

I came in on a Saturday morning with a friend to try the food, and was not disappointed. We shared the Šiš Ćevapi, Suduk and Peka plate, and Kajmak. Our server was great — inviting, informative, and attentive. We probably could have done without the suduk and peka plate, mostly because we ordered too much food and it’s pricey and heavy on the meat.(I especially liked the peka.) The Šiš Ćevapi was delicious and basically just meat and bread with a little dressing. I loved the kajmak and avjar, and the lepina was warm and soft. Next time I’ll probably order a bit more wisely and include some vegetables. I’d give the food and service four stars. Why two stars? The owner. I had an opportunity to witness this man’s interaction with a saleswoman who had entered the bar to meet him. I was immediately put off by his handsiness; I could have mistaken their relationship for closely personal if I were to ignore the saleswoman’s repeated attempts at politely deflecting his advances. I heard her say things like: «Oh, you’re bad!» «I need to keep an eye on you,» «Let’s keep this professional» … and at one point she said something to the tune of «now, I definitely can’t do that» in response to a whispered remark. Finally, after she seemed to have had enough, she politely ended the meeting. He followed her with his hand on her back and I’m honestly surprised he didn’t go for her ass. I was appalled. My friend and I agreed the food was great and we’d like to return, but after what we saw we’ve changed our minds. I considered telling our server about our experience, but I didn’t want to put the onus on him to tell his employer he’s a creep. I thought about writing the owner a letter, but if he acted so flagrantly sleazy toward a woman who meant business, I can only imagine how little regard he has for the opinions of his female customers.

Girl walks into a soccer bar, man says«How are you today nice lady?» in proper Balkan accent. Girl decides this is the only sports related bar she will ever visit in Portland. True story. Even if you’re not into soccer, I recommend this bar for a beer and a bite. As mentioned repeatedly by patrons of 4−4−2 — the owner Muhamed is in fact a very friendly, engaging character. This bar definitely provides that Cheers-esque feel, while maintaining its reputation for having the best game viewing schedule in the area. Generally speaking, if you have not tried Bosnian food, you need to. There is a specific cook here(I believe him to be of Hungarian/Romanian decent) who makes really good ćevapi. Živjeli!

WEREYOUTHERE? WEREYOUATTHE4−4−2WHENTHETIMBERSWENTINTOPK’S??? I can’t fully describe the atmosphere at the 4−4−2 the night the Timbers won their playoff game against KC. It was incredible. I was lucky enough to sit next to the owner during the game, his knowledge of the game is insanely astute as is his warmth and kindness to his patrons. The place was electric, the voices were loud and pure and the Timber fans were in top form as they rode a seesaw battle thru 90 minutes of regulation, 30 minutes of overtime(where the Timbers tied it up with a few minutes to play) and then they held on for one of the greatest PK shootouts I have ever witnessed(KEEPERVSKEEPER!!! AREYOUKIDDINGME???). This is truly a special spot in Portland, American soccer fans and Portland fans in particular should feel very lucky to have a place like the 4−4−2. MLS is lucky to have you all.

Been coming here since they opened. Not a regular but it feels like it when I get there. Hands on owner, passionate staff, and great Bosnian food! One of many reasons I live in inner SE portland and not Lake Oswego as I can walk down here at 6am and watch Liverpool beat everyone(okay well that’s an exaggeration but I walk there full of hope).

Take your first Bosnian step… and there better be a soccer ball! What a place. First thing’s first. This used to be a great little food market run by an affable gentleman and a place you could«get yer Balkan on». Now… you can really get it on because one step inside and you’re overwhelmed by world soccer banner dedicated to the best sport in America. A few years back it was completely transformed into a pub and they’ve done one of the most amazing transitions I think I’ve ever seen. Loads of beers on tap, with lots of local brews, domestics, and a few harder to find taps in the area. They’ve installed a beautifully crafted back bar, well lit and ready to rumble. Bar Rescue would even fall to its knees here. Drinks galore, and be ready to watch some heated soccer matches, because you have several screens at the ready. Service is special here, and while there is a lot of regulars, I was treated really well as a first time customer. Just one barmaid on staff during the day, and as off the charts busy as she was filling mugs and making conversation, she was super laid back and helped with figure out the menu and took care of me as if I’d been there for years. Those are the wait staff you hang on to for sure. Everyone here has just the right amount of sass to make you smile… with no apologies! Menu is good, but you have to be used to Balkan food. Being veggie I know there won’t be a lot of options for me here, but the cheese sandwich with great ajvar, an eggplant and tomato condiment was just what I needed. Bread is very good, and fresh. While I wouldn’t say I was overjoyed at what I ate, I was very satisfied. Prices are very reasonable. You can easily grab a few beers and a sandwich for 15 bucks. Overall, just a great little place that packs a lot of energy and a lot of pulse in every pour. Step in for a little something different and I think you’ll be impressed. It’s easy to see that one Balkan man’s dream makes a lot of Portlanders very happy.

Nothing wrong with this place. A soccer bar that serves good interesting Bosnian cevapi. The bartender helped us navigate the menu(we went w the combo and added a sausage), the food came out quickly, the beer was cold and tasty.

I could not love this place more if I tried. The owner is the most adorable human ever. Beer is cold, delicious, and super affordable. And they’re playing the Rugby World Cup. Love.

The ćevapi here is excellent. The roasted pepper sauce and cheese spread it comes on add perfectly to it, and the traditional Bosnian bread is a dream come true.

If you’re a true Futy(Futbol) Ultra and are living in or visiting Portland, well you just found paradise my friend. Grab a Cevapi that will blow your mind, and a pint of your choice, and watch Futy from all over the world. I can’t stress what a beautiful place 4−4−2 is to a true Futy junky like myself! Thanks for blessing Portland with your bar Mohammed! Arriba Atlas!

This is the bar I always come to if I want three things: Great Bosnian food. Great beer you can’t get anywhere else and way cheaper and the best soccer in town. The staff is always friendly, the owner is a great guy and the clientele is always nice.

This is one of my happy places on planet earth. Nice Lady beer and a small cevap. Heaven! A great place to meet people from all over the world. Pack yourself in for the big games and sing with the Timbers Army. They even have a Sounders decal in the toilet bowl. Lol! Build a bonfire!

This bar is my favorite in Portland; a pure soccer bar in every way. From the signed jerseys on the wall to the club flags on the ceiling. The owner is Bosnian, so be sure to try the Chevapi, a real treat. If there’s a soccer game on anywhere in the world, men’s or women’s, chances are you’ll be able to see it here if you’ll be able to see it anywhere. Highly, highly, recommended.

Hands down best soccer bar in Portland. Being new to the area I feel like this place is family. They are so welcoming and nice and accommodating, it is official my favorite bar in Portland… maybe ever. The stff is amazing, along with the owner. The food is to die for and the drinks are poured nicely, to put it lightly :) And if soccer scares you, not to worry. They will put on whatever you desire. Another thing, the crowd this place draws in is unlike any other crowd one could find at a bar. Like I said, a family. If you enjoy nice, classy people, good conversation, this place is a melting pot of all people, food and drinks wonderful. There’s just too much to rave about regarding 442. Go once and you’ll be back again and again.

This bar is my home away from home, my sanctuary, and my solace. I come here, even if the best team in the world, FC Bayern Munich, is not playing :) Mohammed, the owner, is the kindest, most awesome man I have met thus far in Portland. He’s warm, welcoming, and treats you like you’re family. He is Bosnian, so the menu contains a great selection of AMAZING Bosnian sandwiches, among other American entrees. The bartenders are always on point, and the drink selection is outstanding. Bar 442 hosts every soccer game conceivable and will record those that air too early to view live. 21+ to drink and after a certain time in the evening, but during the morning hours, children are allowed. Wear your favorite jersey and build great friendships with likeminded people! If I could move in, I would.

GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! This place is so cool! The food is pretty good, and they have cider and beer on draft! The food was pretty good, maybe not a five star for food, but a solid 3.5 stars, maybe even 4. We had two different sandwiches that appeased our appetites and taste buds(no, we weren’t hammered)… The best part, you ask? THEMATCHES! They have all the soccer games I could ever want to watch on their tvs and they rotate games, so as soon as one ends they change to the next game! The owner called me nice lady(hey, no argument here ;)) and seemed very interested on how we enjoyed our time there/meal/drinks! It was awesome. I recommend this spot to anyone who wants to drink, watch international or local soccer matches, and wants to cheer their team on! The décor is all soccer jerseys from around the world, a few repeated, and posters with schedules all over the walls.

Tor!!! This place was amazing. I’ve never been to a sports bar in the USA before now that was highlighting good sports, football! And the place looked awesome. Full of scarves, flags, and shirts, I can see how this is the place to be to get pumped for a football match. If we are able to be in Portland in June, this is where we will be for the World Cup. Okay. So they say they have vegan food, but not really because it is cooked on the same grill that uses a lot of lard. Okay fine. Gross. BUT! The bartender was super, super nice and helpful. She made us a cute olive bowl and gave us non-contaminated bread with yummy dips. So the fact that she tried hard to accommodate us meant a lot to me. Plus, beer and football? It’s not always about food.
