A & B Towing

Not the best circumstances. The guys at the NW Industrial impound lot were great… The lady dispatcher at the headquarter not so much…
Overall mixed bag experience…

Terrible service from their tow truck driver, he said his name was Brian. He was by far the rudest person I have ever met and I travel to New York and New Jersey. I will be sure to never use this company ever again.

I called A&B Towing to have a car towed off the property where I work. We have a contract with them. I called at 1am. They said it would be 45 minutes. I called again at 2am. They said the driver should arrive shortly. Called again at 2:30am. They said they were taking calls from the police and they couldn’t guarantee that they would arrive by 6am. I called again at 5:30am and they said maybe they’ll show up at 8am. I wish I could call someone else. I am going to recommend to my manager that we switch to another towing company. Their customer service is laughable, at best.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are crooks and have a contract with Portland Parking Enforcement to make money off the good hard working citizens of Portland. They have zero customer service and cannot explain anything. They will take you for every dollar you have! And your screwed if you don’t have any dollars. DO NOT USE! BOYCOTT!

Terrible Customer Service: I didn’t even use their services after my phone experience.
I called them to ask a couple of questions because my car had broken down and I have never used a towing service before. It was obvious that I was a young, mature woman calling later in the evening, quasi — freaked out. I was stranded and needed help and when I finished my first question the woman replied, almost screamed, in a condescendingly rude tone, «UH NOH, we don’t take credit cards by the phone.» And then unenthusiaticly proceeded to ask me (as if I just called there to bother her) if I had any other questions.

THIS PLACE IS CORRUPT. It’s run by crooks. Do NOT give this company your business. Guy had us wait for him to do absolutely nothing.

Called them on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend (when all the other towing places were closed!) to get my car towed. They were fast, professional, nice and very reasonably priced.

After being stood up by a different tow company (waited for close to 2 hours for a truck that they had decided not to send), we called A&B. They got out to our car in 30 minutes. They were very friendly and helpful. Total cost was $ 30 less than the other guys. What more could you want?

Needed a tow for my car today. I called A&B and could not have been more satisfied. Great phone service, set a time to get my car… right on time. Very qualified and friendly guy managing the truck. Made what is often an aggravating circumstance quite decent. And I thought the price was reasonable. I have saved A&B’s number in my phone in case I’m in a bind again.

Decided to take our business someplace else due to the simple fact that whoever took our call seemed to be too busy to offer decent customer service. I am a business owner with customers… My In-​laws accidentally parked their car without setting the break and it rolled back into a small pond and so i had some questions about how to get it out and their fees. the lady acted too busy and annoyed and then quickly put me on hold without asking the simple question (may i put you on hold?) after she got back on i politely reminded her about customer service and let her know we would take our business somewhere else.
For the record i am also one who enjoys complimenting those who provide good customer service because rarely does anyone do that.

I had A and B give me an emergency tow on Monday. Driver, Patrick, was great! They were on time and reasonable. Just called to tow same vehicle to a shop. First I call a competitor, 3 times the cost! Yikes! Hopefully this will be my last tow for awhile, but I definitely won’t hesitate to call A and B in the future!

I had a great experience. Had a non-​urgent towing need to a dealership and called A&B to get me there. I explicitly said, «this is totally not a big deal — take your time.» So I started getting ready and within 10 minutes there was a knock at the door. The tow guy was super friendly and expertly maneuvered my hooked up car out of my tricky, narrow dead-​end street. We chatted all the way there and he even walked me into the dealership to make sure everything was settled before he left. I am sorry that I am now blanking on his name (blonde, with tattoos down his arm, camo seat covers in his truck) but he was really awesome. He drove carefully and I felt safe.
It cost $ 59.50 plus $ 5 per mile. Great deal. I hopefully won’t have a reason to tow anytime soon but I would call A&B in a second. Again, this was a great experience.

Had a non-​urgent towing need (dead clutch, car at my house), but A&B was available on a Sunday morning and came in about 30 mins. Price is currently $ 59.50 plus $ 5/​mile – significantly cheaper than Speed’s. Operator on the telephone was efficient and friendly. The tow guy was friendly and drove carefully. Their rig was in good shape and did not damage my car (which has low clearance). Since it was a slow day he gave me a free ride back to my neighborhood. I also looked them up on the BBB: A&B has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (unlike Crown). I’m very happy with the service.

I was having one of the worst days of my life (that I haven’t blocked out) and the folks at A & B Towing (particularly Vicki) made things not so bad. They worked with me and my insurance company to get my car out of their yard, and made it so I could get home at a decent time on a Friday night. These folks are friendly and efficient souls. I highly recommend A & B Towing.

My friend was driving me up burnside when one of the tires suddenly fell off at a major intersection! We called speed’s towing. They gave us an estimate of 90 minutes. A & B showed up in 5! The driver was super nice and really helpful. Thanks for rescuing us! This could have been a much bigger disaster.

So our car crapped out in the NE Trader Joe’s parking lot and we needed a jump. We had a very nice woman who tried to give us a start which failed because the battery was so dead. So after calling our insurance and finding out the procedure for roadside, I had to decide on a towing company to come give us a shock. I happened to find a yellow pages and found the big A&B ad proclaiming to work with most insurance. So I called and was nicely told that we’d see someone within ½ an hour.
About 20 minutes later our guy showed up and was able to park across from us in the lot. He was nice enough to wait while I ran inside and got the keys from my wife who had gone in to TJ’s to go pee. Really nice guy, quick and efficient, and we were on the road again after about ten minutes. And most of that was him taking a picture of our insurance card and taking down our plate number.
All in all a pain in the neck experience made much easier by A&B. Totally recommended!

I understand what the other reviewer is saying, but I think their beef is more with the hidden charges that bigger companies tend to throw in, hence «dolly fee.» Ok, that sucks… but you got caught in a bad spot which was your fault.
Anyway, my interaction with both the phone lady and Rob was so pleasant. It’s nice to deal with a company that has a system in place that makes everything orderly. I’ve had bad experiences with having to give tow trucks directions, miscommunicaitons and language barriers.
So, setting the appointment was easy.
The guy I dealt with on the other end was a real good guy, good attitude and overall personality. His name was Rob… so if A and B sees this they know.
