A Good Locksmith

Loved the place but now it looks like that they are closed and out of business … Space is empty and nothing posted to indicate a move…

The key we needed replicated was an older style. We’ve been all over town coming home with newly made copies that didn’t work. So when we went in to get ones cut naturally we were a little reluctant. He instantly knew what kind it was, grabbed the keys needed whipped them up and we were back on our way with a kept promise they would work.
I highly recommend going here for any locksmithing needs! This company lives up to its name.

Very helpful and straightforward service. MY wife and I recent;y bought a new home for which the garage lock needed to be re-​keyed. I took a few photos of what I needed and when I called to ask a few questions, the gentleman said to just email them to him and after taking a look he would tell me if he could do the work and about how long it would take. In about five minutes he called me back with a simple solution and a very reasonable price. A Good Locksmith is just that.

I’m pretty sure no one in their right mind locks themselves out of their home or car. So, when I did just that today, a string of expletives came trilling out of my mouth like a NW cascading waterfall. I whipped out Unilocal and began my search for a lock smith. I called exactly 2. The first one was a nation wide service that is mobile via zip codes. However, I did not know that when I called. They had a 5-​star review and listed an address in my immediate high orchidThe phone technician let me know the service would be close to the range of $ 125.00. (Insert more expletives!) i i quoted with this person about the local address and number listed on Unilocal; he told he works for a service that provides the connection between local businesses and customers. I agreed and began my search for another as it was going to be at least 20 minutes before a service person would call me back to confirm my business. I look down my list of choices… I went for a 4 ½– star rating and a location a bit farther away. This time I explained I was locked out of bothy car and home and asked if there was a price break or if each service cost the same. He told me the cost either way was $ 65.00 & he could have some one over within 30 minutes. Hot damn! Sold!
Over the next 10 minutes, 3 service men called from local lock smith working with the 1^st company I called. I turned each of them down because of the cost break. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! My service was swift, within 30 minutes, precise, door unlocked in 1 minute, and affordable. Thank you.

I had a master key and two spare keys made for my ”98 Camry. It was very reasonable and done in 15 minutes including looking up the master code. This is definitely my go-​to locksmith. You can trust your job with this great owner operated business. He even makes house calls in the neighborhood!

And so it begins. With a new house comes a slew of contractor reviews. We purchased a home and needed to have the locks changed. After referencing Unilocal,I turned to A Good Locksmith and I have to say, I’m not super stoked on this service. The work they performed was technically proficient however not very professional.
I called to try to schedule a 4pm appointment and was informed that they can’t guarantee a time they’ll show up — it depends on «when my technician gets done with the job beforehand.» He could show up as early as 2:30 or maybe at 4:30. Just depends! That should have been a bit of a red flag. Since we were meeting other contractors at the home, we were trying to minimize the amount of time we had to spend hanging around waiting for work to be done. However with the solid Unilocal reviews I figured this would be the only hitch. Keep in mind I was making this appointment the day before, so they should have had a pretty decent idea of their schedule the following day.
Dude didn’t show up until about 5:45… late enough that I was about to simply call and cancel and go with another ‘smith the following day (I have better things to do than sit around and wait hours for someone to show for a job). Once there (with no apology, simply an explanation that he lost track of time and almost forgot to show at all) the tech proceeded to re-​key the locks. We asked if he had a replacement deadbolt for the front door and he was able to produce something — a used deadbolt, which he did offer to sell to us at a small discount from retail, but he took the old deadbolt as part of payment. Common practice? I don’t know. I don’t deal with locksmiths often.
The job took him over an hour to complete. The locks did get re-​keyed and the keys made. At the end he mentioned they don’t take cards (and that if I had asked when booking the appointment, I would have been told as much). I left the last century 14 years ago, so I don’t carry checks. He waited at the house while I went to get cash from the nearest ATM. A warning in advance (like the awesome dudes that worked on my garage door warned me when setting their appointment) would have been kind of handy. Since the advent of Square, it’s pretty simple to accept mobile card payments.
From other reviews it seems like these guys are great when it comes to emergency service, but for a scheduled full-​house re-​key, I wouldn’t call them again. Too inconvenient.

This place is amazing! On Christmas eve, our car keys broke in half with no spare. It was definately our fault for not having any extra spares. We talked to a few other locksmiths that were closed due to the holiday, but this place was open! He tried to make a duplicate, but that didn’t work. He took the time to measure and hand cut a new key for us and saved the day!
I should mention this all happened while we were parked in a zone that towed after 4 pm. He kept it cool and helped us as quickly as possible.

Very nice guy, I brought in a broken key (from breaking off in my car door) and he made me a new one. Good prices, just wish that he accepted credit and debit. (QFC is a block away, so getting cash back was not an issue.)
I will continue to use him for my locksmith needs, hopefully I will never have to see him again, though.

Super nice guy, and worked very fast.

I came into the shop on a whim and the owner made some «DO NOT DUPLICATE» keys for me from regular type keys. However, he refused to duplicate the keys I had that said «DO NOT DUPLICATE» on them because I didn’t have signed letterhead from my company. I explained to him that most companies do not rely on letterhead these days in our electronic and largely paperless society and letterhead doesn’t mean the same thing NOW as it did in the 1950’s. ANY kid using a home computer can create letterhead for any fictitious company they want. Letterhead means NOTHING in terms of being used as a tool for verification. Instead I had actual REAL proof of my ownership/​affiliation with my company. I had a corporate credit card with the name of my company AND my name on it. I also had my drivers license which had not only my name but my picture. He still wouldn’t do it! I asked him what his reasoning was and he couldn’t offer ANY explanation other than to just repeat his rule. He just didn’t care about me as a customer and what I needed. The guy is obviously «old school» and seemingly has no interest whatsoever in modernizing or even acknowledging the current decade we are in, in an effort to improve his business or to provide the best customer service he can. His keys are probably fine as far as I can tell but stubborn people like this with their heads in the sand, need to find out the hard way that if you want to be counted as one of the stores people like and recommend, you have to TRY being better.
Update: June 25^th. When I got back to my office only ½ of the keys he made me worked in the lock! Wow. AVOID

This fella is a real deal old school locksmith. He’s your guy if you locked yourself outta something! I lost my garage keys right before I was about to leave out of town for a week long camping trip and all my gear was in there! I was trippin! Luckily, I called this guy up pretty late in the day just as he was about to go home and he totally came by and got me in! He was very nice and quick. A true professional at work is an amazing thing to witness. I spent an hour trying to pick that lock the night before and I didn’t even come close to to unlocking it. He was in and out in under 5 minutes. I highly recommend this guy if you are in need of a good locksmith.

This company is missed named. It should be A GREAT LOCKSMITH, An AWESOME locksmith, An Amazing locksmith. Every time we’ve need something he’s A+ professional, expedient and friendly. Wish more small businesses were this way.

The deadbolts on our new house weren’t function properly and we couldn’t even lock the front door. We called AGL, and they hussled over, fixed the problem deadbolt, and even checked the others and adjusted them for the best fit. Though the price was steeper because it was an after-​hours call, the added service of checking other locks was appreciated.
