A Quality Concrete

5 stars for being super nice guys, for the price and letting me pay via Paypal so I could use my credit card. However, 2 stars for quality, unfortunately, so I give this a 3 as described below.
* Timeliness: They arrived 2 hours late, then forgot something and so rather than a 9am start it was closer to 11:30am. The owner claimed he knocked on our door earlier but we didn’t answer (not sure how that was possible as we were home), but his wife emailed me saying he wouldn’t be arriving until 10:30 or 11:00 because of the weather.
* Length of project: This job they said would take 3 – 4 hours ended up having them leave at almost 5pm.
* Accuracy: The job was to remove the back half of our driveway in half, aligning with the edge of the house, but when they came to show me the finished project, it was a foot back from the line I gave them to cut at, and so they had to do it again.
* Attention to customer property: They also backed their trailer over my railroad tie border in the front yard (not even in the driveway) TWICE and crushed it, and didn’t offer to replace it until I asked them to get me a new one. He did apologize, but first had tried to just smoosh it back into the front of the property. Yikes.
* Cleanup: Also, as another reviewer said, their cleanup left much to be desired, with a ton of rubble still in my driveway that we will now need to shovel out ourselves, even though I specifically pointed out that I wanted the rubble to be removed since it was part of the driveway.
* Misc: The owner went out to do another bid during the middle of the job so I had 2 guys just sitting in my driveway while he was gone for a significant amount of time with the trailer so they couldn’t do anything.
Ordinarily in this circumstance I would give a one or two star rating, but the fact is, we got this for a considerably lower price than the others who bid on it, they were nice people to deal with, and this was a heckuva lot better than doing it ourselves. So I’d still recommend them, with the note that a) make sure you watch them when they are backing trucks onto your property, and b) know that you get what you pay for as far as the details (cleanup, accuracy, etc.).

The cost was great. The work was done faster than I would have expected (they started digging minutes after we shook hands on the deal.)
However, their cleanup leaved a little bit to be desired — I picked up over 60 nails strewn about the area. If our dogs walked over them it could have caused serious injury.
A few months after the wall was installed we developed a large crack at the corner. Large enough to cause concern. I called 3 times and each time was told they would come out to discuss it with me. They’ve never followed up.
I’m not inspired to use them again.

A Quality recently re-​did the skim coating (i.e. the outer layer of concrete on the foundation that repels moisture and protects the foundation from damage) on our house and redid part of our front walk while they were there. They were very punctual and the work looks great. My wife handled the whole transaction and Kimball, the owner /​foreman of the crew, was consummately polite, respectful, and professional. The cost was also very reasonable; we didn’t even bother with another estimate from a different company we were so happy with the numbers.
Highly recommended if you need concrete work done, definitely including skim coating and walkways.
