Ace Car Reconditioning

Like other reviewers here, I took in my car for window tinting from a Groupon promotion.
Not going to lie, I was very skeptical about the shop and it’s appearance and had a hard time leaving my car there so I did not. I sat in the lobby and waited for much longer than they told me I’d have to wait.
Once the job was done, I too had bubbles and they told me they will go away and they did.
It has been well over a year since I got my tint done and I can say that I have no issues with it what’s so ever. They did a fantastic job and I am very happy with their work. I would recommend these guys, and have before.

So I purchased the Ace Car Reconditioning Groupon for window tinting on a 5-​door car, thinking I’d get my wife a new car within the coming month or two. It ended up happening, I purchased my wife a car.
I went ahead and called the Portland location and scheduled my appointment. Everything seemed to be going as described in the Groupon listing, but that was not the case when I arrived to drop my car off. Just as previous reviewers have listed, this company had a nice «bait & switch» tactic. Their ad for their deal said you were paying for tinting on 5 windows, and there would be additional charges only for (I’m assuming?) upgrades and other important details that vary from car-​to-​car. TO MY SURPRISE, there was an ADDITIONAL charge for door panels. YEP, DOOR PANELS. Every car has them and they decided to not include the obvious in their listing or even mention it that they charge an additional $ 5/​per door panel for the tint job.
No where in their advertisement did they mention this, nor did they even bother to offer this disclaimer when I scheduled my appointment over the phone. It was quite disappointing that I went through the entire process and had my time wasted. Originally I thought other reviewers were outliers, but not after I experienced the same exact thing a few people mentioned. After that, no way would I risk taking a car and allow this company to work on it. This would put me at risk of acquiring the next mentioned risk by previous reviewers, damage to my car. Not to mention any other additional charges that they’d pile up on me after they’d complete the job…
No, thank yo — refund request all the way.
I hope this business realizes that it isnt a good business practice to sneakily deceive customers with their advertising and expect them to pay additional charges which should have already been stated in the advertisement. I would much rather go where I got my last cars windows tinted and pay the price I did then. Not a bargain, but at least they are honest and didn’t deceive me once.
Also, inform you employees that by saying an extra fee of $ 5 will get a «professional job» that will look «professional,» isn’t sound logic. I don’t think any business would say they do «unprofessional» work to get business. A lot to learn about customer service, Ace Car Reconditioning. I hope more people are not deceived by the Google Reviews, because I don’t think that truly reflects this business. NO WAY are they a 4 or 4 ½ out of 5 star rating. I think a 2 or 3 out of 5 star rating is close. I would give them a no-​star rating if I could.

I originally came here from a groupon for window tinting on my car. I originally went to the beaverton location which was completely unorganized. I was told to leave my car with them until the tinter got there at 10, who never showed up. I did not feel comfortable with leaving my car with them so i took my keys and left. I made an appointment at their portland location hoping things would go better.
BOY WAS I WRONG.
After getting the car done i began to realize a whole bunch of issues with the tinting job. I found dirt, hairs, and light still breaking through cracks in the tint. They even damaged the rubber molding on the outside of my car. I brought it back to them showing them all the issues they had caused on my brand new car, and they refused to take any blame for anything. Apparently the dirt and hairs were just air bubbles that would go away with time, BULLSHIT! This place is such a scam its crazy. Do not take your car there for ANYTHING.
Not to mention they detail cars INCORRECTLY. I professionally detail cars as a side job and everything i saw them doing when it came to washing the car was just creating more swirls and damage to the cars.
I will say this again, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE FOR ANYTHING. They will take your money and rip you off. I would give them a negative rating if i could.

Came here based on purchase with Groupon for window tint. Wow, what a mistake. Don’t come here, ever. Run away very fast. I was scheduled two months out which was their earliest appointment time. I arrived 10 minutes early to the refrigerated nonexistent waiting area where I waited for 5 minutes until the one employee came up front. I explained why I was there and he asked what % of tint I wanted as he held a training aid. I asked for 20% and he said that would be an upgrade. I explained it didn’t say that on the voucher where he said there would be an additional charge. I told him I would return my purchase so he called his «boss» and spoke in another language outside. He came back in and said they would waive the fee. He explained he was trying to make a living. Sorry but not at my expense. He said the trained tint person would arrive at 8:30 so I left and returned a half hour later. After waiting another 30 minutes this tint guy arrived, an hour late from my SCHEDULED time. Obviously they don’t care about wasting your time. They then try to screw you with hidden fees. Don’t waste your time coming here.

I have gone to the Beaverton location several times in the past and have had fantastic service. I’m talking, amazing. Nothing beats pickup up your car and having it feel dealership new. The Beaverton location’s service is worth every penny paid.
I live in Portland and decided to give their newer NE Portland location a try. My experience was good, but didn’t quite meet my expectations set by Beaverton.
First, when I dropped off my car, I was disappointed to learn that they didn’t have a complete detail as part of my appointmnet. They also didn’t have their paint guy available to repair the paint chips. I’m going to the effort of driving out there, taking the bus to work, and back to NE Portland. For this effort, I want everything done in a day and not to have to do it again. No biggy.
I came back that evening to pick up my car and it’s beautiful. Not «detail» beautiful, but washed and polished. I spent some time with them to point out some of the missed areas, like moss under some of the trip, and dirt in the hatchback gutters. The more effort I spent pointing things out, the more upset I got that it wasn’t done in the first place. I decided to let it go and take care of it when I got at home. Then we went in so that I could pay, and it’s the $ 250, which was discounted because «it wasn’t really that dirty». I mentioned that the paint touch up needed to be removed from that because it wasn’t done, and he said that the $ 250 wasn’t included in that. Ugh. He did offer to give me a bottle of touch up the following week and that he’d do the hood and I could do the rest for free. I took him up on it, but then realized that if he gave the paint touch up the level of detailed attention that they did the car detail, my car may actually look worse.
Moving back to my chill place in my mind, I drive home and then see all the dust build up in my air vent levers. Isn’t that part of Auto Detail 101? Get your Q tips out and clean those puppies?!? I got mad again. Then, I actually started to get mad at myself for being so nit-​picky over my beautiful car, but I paid a lot of money for perfection and didn’t get it.
I recommend either taking your car to Ace in Beaverton, or just take it to Washman for a $ 20 interior and exterior clean or $ 100 «detail», and then do the actual detail work yourself. Ace Portland’s detail is about as good as a Washman detail (not very detailed) and is more than twice the cost.
