Food was average at best. Queso has a very thick texture. Margs are overpriced. Salsa more of a chili flavor. Service seems understaffed.

it’s been longer than 1hr since we placed an order and still can’t get our food. Asked for take out instead and staff didn’t even say sorry. I’m sorry –for the cooks! smells great but we’re not staying.

My husband and I love this place! Most of the recipes from the ‘authentic’ Mexican restaurants in the Portland surrounding areas are from Central and Southern Mexico(in direct correlation to the fact that the majority of the Mexican population in these areas are also from Central and Southern Mexico.) However, my husband is from the state of Chiuahaha, in Northern Mexico; happily for us, the food from Allan’s is also from Chihuahua. Whoo Hoo!!! My husband is picky about Mexican restaurants for obvious reasons. I traditionally do not like Mexican restaurant food, especially after have been spoiled at the hands of his family’s cooking… So, from the both of us, the food from here is well deserving of high praise indeed. :-)

Got a chimichanga, which is what most people posted pictures of and it was delicious. The real appeal at this place though are the margaritas. Between the two of us we tried three different ones and they were all fantastic. Since tequila is my alcohol of choice, I will definitely go back to try one of the flights of tequila while I’m there. The selection is pretty impressive, although strangely no Jose Cuervo lol.

I think two brothers run this place and they both just kinda grunt like don’t bother me. It’s weird. We had to wait for everything; menus, napkins, water, chips, salsa etc. Super slow and they were not even busy. Also be aware, they do not like to refill ANYTHING. Portions are skimpy and bland. My bother in law ordered tortilla soup and got what tasted like canned chicken broth with some chip strips and a couple chucks of avocado in it. SERIOUSLY. It was offending and to add insult to injury, the place is not cheap!

Very good portions for the price. My family and I have come here several times. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Allans is a family operated business and they take pride in service.

Found this place through Unilocal and looking at many reviews wanted to try this place. Went here for dinner on a weekend. The Chips and Salsa were good and the chips tasted homemade and little thicker. I ordered the Chicken Fajita and my wife got the veggie fajitas. The chicken was very bland with not even salt in it and the veggies were too charred or little burn out. My wife felt the same about her veggie fajita as well. The rice that came as a side was also pretty dried out. We asked for a side of pico de gallo but we never thought that they would charge for it as most places offer the salsas for free. The food wasn’t that great and also not sure why the veggie fajitas with no meat or protein in it would be a dollar more expensive than Chicken Fajitas. Nothing great here to come back for except the Chips and salsa.

We came here at lunch in an attempt to try someplace new that was relatively close to work. I was very hopeful given the very positive reviews and the number of people already there on a Thursday lunch hour. They give you chips and salsa when you first sit down at your table. We both ordered burritos and a side of guacamole. The side of guacamole was generous but it took a VERY long time to get the food. I know there was a larger group of about 8 people that had arrived before us but it seemed that they had ordered before we sat down. Overall the food was okay and the service was slow. Unfortunately the slow service removes this from potential places to go during my lunch break. 2 stars.

The best Mexican food I have had in a very long time, if not ever! Came here under a friends recommendation and it was amazing! My whole family loved the food and left full and satisfied! The margaritas were superb, I got the steak fajitas, delicious, all of the salsas were homemade(the owners wife recipes) as it is a family owned business. The service was absolutely wonderful. The restaurant was clean and well maintained, not one complaint! Told my family that lives in the area about my visit and they ended up calling in a to go order that night and thought the food was excellent as well! Can’t wait to go back!

I wouldn’t see a place called Allan’s and associate Mexican food however it was next to my house so I thought I would try. What a shock! This was so dang good! Ive had a carne asada quesadilla with the works and a burrito another time. Both have great flavors. Its a tad pricey but you get a lot of food. A couple can easily share.

We were greeted promptly and served drinks and chips/salsa immediately. They even brought a kids cup for my 8 month old. Food was solid… tasty and delicious… attentive efficient customer service as well. Some different menu options than the norm were interesting and will try next time we visit. New local fave!

My husband and I love Allan’s. We find ourselves in here at least once a month. The food is so good. Vegetarians feast your heart out. Their rice and beans are vegetarian. Even their refried pinto beans. They have many veggie options off the menu, so just ask. They also have a spicy margarita that I love. It is always the same friendly staff when we go in. Leo is always our waiter and he is so friendly and accommodating. Plus we get our food fast. Can’t recommend this place enough.

5 stars for taste and portion size. We tried a couple of their vegetarian options. They have quite a good selection to pick from. The service was rather on the slower side and not too personable. Personally, I don’t really care if it is personable or not, but I expect it to be prompt. The chairs were a little uncomfortable as well. Moving on again to the positives: reiterating that the food tasted delicious and portion sizes were huge!!! We will be back again, for sure. Maybe get an order to go the next time we’re in.

My wifes steak burrito was pretty good seasoned nicely. My pork burrito was subpar at best. The pork was dry and flavorless. Their chip seamed a little burnt or they needed to change their cooking oil before they cooking them. The best part of the meal was the salsa they give you with the chips. It could have been more spicy for my liking, but that’s just my personal preference. The chairs are odd to me. They were like old wicker furniture from your grandmas house. The service was better than average, just not very personable. Just my 2 cents.

This place was great! Service was top notch and quick. I ordered a pork tamale which was nicely flavored and filling, along with well seasoned rice and refried beans. Chips and salsa accompany the meal, and they’re some of the best I’ve had at a Mexican restaurant. The chips for me were well salted, warm, and crisp. The salsa was more of a purée, which i normally like chunky, but the flavor was outstanding.

Wow! This is absolutely the best pollo la crema within 30 miles at least! The corn tortillas are to die for and all fresh salsa and guac. We came here just not wanting to go to the Beaverton others and might not ever go anywhere else! Service was great. Cadillac margarita worth the 11 dollars. My tummy and my heart are very very happy!

I don’t even look at the menu anymore, I just let Leo order whatever sounds good to him(that follows my «no peppers» rule) and EVERY single time I am extremely pleased with how delicious my meal is. I’ve also gotten over the bland salsa idea that I previously stated, cause boy does their spicy salsa really kick you right in the teeth… in a good way. I go for the margaritas alone — the blended raspberry is my favorite, but blackberry on the rocks is a killer too — but stay and continue to come back for the food. The fried ice cream is nothing to joke about too, it’s seriously amazing. I’m not kidding, Allan’s is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant. I even dropped Si Señor for this place, and tell literally everyone I know to eat here.

Taste wise 3.5 ***. Service 4****. Décor 3.5***. Good vegetarian options. My baby loved Mexican rice here. Side of Guac was for $ 4.5 which I didn’t mind paying but portion was too small. Staff was friendly and quick in their service. Veggie Fajita and veggies enchiladas tasted decent. If I have to come back. It will be for their rice and may be to try veggie burrito. Overall decent lunch experience!
