Racism. I heard one employee talk with another about N*******s while working.
I just don’t understand why anyone would waste their time on hatred, stereotypes, and ignorance. Or put up with it in a workplace when you are trying to run a business? Just stupid.

When heading back to PDX with a rental car, I usually go there via 82^nd Avenue so that I can find gasoline and avoid the fuel surcharges. I usually end up at the Arco across the street from Al’s, but this time, I decided to give this Union 76 Station a try.

Like Hank Hill, I cook with clean burning propane. Not that I’m anti charcoal… in fact I think food cooked over charcoal tastes better, but propane is a perfect lazy man’s alternative. No setting up and waiting for it to burn to red coals, just fire it up and grill.
This is where I get my propane tanks filled. Since I don’t use the swap system, I have to find a gas station with propane, and these guys have it. It’s about $ 15 for a 5-​gallon fill. Not sure if that’s cheap or expensive. I just know it’s decently close to me and the guys are friendly enough.

When it used to be BP, the customer service was great, and the guys were friendly, and I’m not talking about the guys who fill up my tank, I’m talking about the guys who did my tune-​up, fill my tire with air, or rotate my tire, or whatever I went there for, their assistant manager even got to know me because I didn’t go anywhere else are also helpful. One guy even got my car unlocked or installed a problematic light that came on suddenly for no reason. They would do things for my car for NO CHARGE, only because I’ve been going there for ‘decades’. That’s right, well, I’ve lived in the same neighborhood, longer than most people in the same neighborhood. We haven’t moved since we moved here.. . anyway, my point is ever since Al — not his real name the owner — have hired new people and it seems like every time I pull over to fill my tank, I see new faces! He LOVES TO hire people of the minorities, which is good, but in the past he had hired people who were just coming out of the halfway houses.
The service have gone down and the smiles have come down. Their gas is still lower than 33^rd & Broadway, or NE Prescott, so that’s a plus, but higher than the E. Burnside Chevron dealer.
Now, we just go there to fill up our tanks, and NOTHING ELSE. Maybe, to pick up FREE calendars! That’s also a bonus. Not many places gives out FREE calendars year after year!
