Antique Alley

So there was that time I slipped into a time warp. NYE 2015, specifically.
This whole station place is a trip, but that’s a review for another day.
Things I bought at Antique Alley:
1) a phoenix ware ashtray that I’ve repurposed as my key stashing receptacle
2) something listed as a candy dish whose sole destiny in life was clearly to be a vehicle for gardenia candles
3) Two luminarc liqueur glasses with kelly green stems. Someone bring me liqueur and we shall drink from them
4) (saved the best for last) A silk muu-​muu. Yessirree, I got myself a floor length silk Mrs. Roper style dressing gown. It’s sort of a dusty rose color and hot damn, do I sashay when wearing it. It’s totally impractical, the sleeves get in the way of doing anything other than sashaying, but I would like to wear it 24/​7, please and thank you.
There is a LOT of total crapola here so be prepared to do some digging. I don’t know how the prices compare to other thrift stores, cause I tend to get overwhelmed and lose patience at those type of stores, but I don’t think it was exorbitant. And now I have a muu-​muu and you (I’m assuming) don’t. Neener.

Enjoyed this place! There are some REAL treasures stuck in here — you’ll have to hunt and peck a bit, but this is a fun place to do that (and not a thrashed mess). I’d missed it passing by many times, until tipped off by a friend. From outside it looks a bit like a bizarre mishmash of businesses (which it is on the entrance floor). But walk downstairs and start your search. Records, clothing, art, toys, housewares, furniture… Major variety and a lot of unusual finds that surprised me. Decent prices, too.

Great space. Prices are ok. I’ll keep shopping here so long as the cute guy keeps working there.

Super cool! Could easily get stuck looking for hours. They have so much stuff! Didn’t buy anything this trip, but it’s still fun to look!

This place was great. There were so many items we didn’t have enough time to go through the entire store. We will definitely be going back. They had something for everyone. I just wish they were open later on Saturday.

The filth that runs this establishment are very passionate about protecting their interests against thieves, as evinced by the many pictures of alleged shoplifters festooning their walls. What a pity said passion doesn’t extend to their own conduct. Be warned that their NO RETURNS policy applies to damaged merchandice. If you buy something here and it is damaged, the joke is on you as the propietors are proudly unburdened by any sense of honor. May this blight on the community go under.

As I write this I’m hanging out in the bathroom, for the third time since I’ve eaten at the upstairs sandwich joint. Which would be awesome if I was backed up and in the need for some weight loss. I should have known better after finding hair in my food, but noooooo, I ate it anyways. Won’t make that mistake again. I wouldn’t suggest eating here, especially with so many other options on Sandy… the little shops are pretty rad though, definitely worth checking out.

Terrible customer service.
I did not get one item although I paid for it. I had to call 3 times and no return call… the owner said we are not refunding this and the item is not in our store!
Why would I bother to call? Really?
I spent over $ 100.00 and these were just $ 8.50 gloves that they did not wrap nor give them to me .
Everything else was wrapped behind the counter in 2 tight, taped, neat packages.
I am restoring a vintage home and this was a mistake how unprofessional this was
A sales person on the phone said this was the owners decision and said this was terrible customer service.
Never again!
It’s the principle and after reading other reviews, it sounds like they need a customer service over haul– start with the owner!

This is a great antique mall! It made me feel like I was on a treasure hunt since there is so much to look through. I found some awesome vintage fabric and buttons that I’m really excited about as well as a book that I probably never would have stumbled upon elsewhere. I will say that there isn’t much furniture (which is what I was actually hoping to find), but the knowledgable and friendly staff pointed me in the right direction. I’m definitely going to go back to scour for more treasure!

I really enjoy this place and have come in many times searching for props and wardrobe for some film/​tv work in addition to outfitting our Craftsman/​cabin themed SW area home. We stopped in yesterday and bought a couple bag fulls of antique goodies and gifts, always a pleasure. We spied one item that was marked «ND» on the tag, meaning No Discount, but the kind lady who showed it to us said if we come back in to purchase it that anything over $ 20 they can check with the seller about a discount as each booth is owned by a different vendor. In fact, she was very encouraging and said most do the discount regardless of what’s on the tag. Today we came back in for the item and when we approached the counter a lady rather rudely told us that we were «misinformed» and flatly refused to call the dealer to inquire on our behalf. I get it, No Discount means no discount, but when we clearly explained that another employee said there are exceptions, possibly because she knows us and our spending habits, then you shouldn’t belittle customers because of your in-​house policy confusion. Your problems should be invisible to the public. Pick up the phone and call the dealer and let him/​her decide, it’s not that hard, it makes you «seem» like you give a damn about customers, and gets you five stars on Unilocal.
We walked away and came back when there was another teller available, a very fun, cordial and polite gentleman who rang us up and we enjoyed chatting with him, just as we have every other employee in the past. These are the cheery faces that keep us coming back. Too bad they can’t all be like this.
5-​stars for the shop, selection, prices and workers, a big fat ZERO for the woman who couldn’t let go of her «rule book» long enough to realize we had been insulted by her public denigration of us. Let’s just call it 3-​stars total and move on.

Antique Alley has its ups and downs, like any antique mall. There are fab spaces filled with perfect treasures, and then there are the spaces that just don’t belong because their stuff is simply too new.
There are loads of dealers with vintage clothing, and all at really reasonable prices. Not to mention there is a great selection of jewelry and housewares. Heck, I got a piece of Bakelite for $ 18!
For the most part, the staff is polite and lets you keep your stuff at the counter if you have a large amount of items you are interested in. But at times, the staff can become cranky, especially if they have had a very long day with many customers. The space is quite large, and there are only two employees for each day, so think about how you’d feel.
Overall Antique Alley is a great antique mall tucked away and always has something new (to me that is) to offer.

This is not a high-​end antique mall. You aren’t going to find eighteenth century portraits or valuable Eastlake sideboards. And that’s fine. There are plenty of places for these things (well, maybe not in Portland, but still…).
What you are going to find is kitsch, and collectables, and a decent selection of lower price point items (mid century pottery, lots of vintage clothes, and a decent selection of books). So prices are good, and the browsing is a pleasure.
Some booths are beautifully merchandised, but most are not: if that matters to you, go to Monticello (in Montavilla) or Stars (in Sellwood).
So, yes, consider me a fan.

This place is awesome. Seriously, I could spent an entire afternoon browsing through the funky, kitschy vintage stuff that fills every corner. I collect tacky barware – way too much of it – and this place has plenty. Yeah, some of the merchandise is more junk than treasure, but I love digging through junk. I found some nifty little nick-​nacks and some collectibles that only a geek like me would want.
Cool store.

My partner and I have been in the «junk» business for many years. Along the way we have owned a few shops (Junk Bros, flea, Vintage Betti). After a recently failed venture (Found on Fremont) we decided to step back and explore other options. Antique Alley was the answer. We have been a part of the family for four months now and have been amazed at our success! AA is a fun mix of antiques, vintage, and retro treasures. Yes, there is a fair amount of mediocre «stuff» but that’s what makes this place so much fun! You never know what treasures you might find buried within. And, you won’t find a friendlier staff. If you haven’t stopped by in a while, you owe it to yourself to revisit this little gem. Good prices, wide variety. What more can you ask for?

I really like this antique dealer mall. But I’m really drawn to places that are packed with lots of stuff and a wide variety of dealers, because I love «the hunt». Granted they do have a fair amount of dealers with product that is questionable in quality or not truly «vintage». But I’ve found so many great treasures here over the years that I just can’t complain much. And as far as dealer malls go, they consistently have some of the best prices in town. If you want more of a chichi antique store I would head across the street to Hollywood Antiques (also a great store). But if you enjoy a good treasure hunt, I would check out Antique Alley.

We cruised into this underground antique mall after attending the early buy in at the Palmer Wirf Antique show over at the Expo center. We heard some local dealers had booths here so we decided to check it out. The place was packed full of smalls and lots of odd items.
We found the mall lacking much of any quality. Lots of land fill with little of anything good. We did spot a nice pair of Milo Baughman chairs tagged at $ 1250 that were all original.
The tiki room under the stairs was filled with Hawaiian shirts along with tiki cups and affordable mid century lamps and we found it rather fun to dig through the merchandise in this tiki hut themed room. It was groovy.
This antique mall was OK at best but don’t expect to find many hidden treasures here. If you need a new Hawaiian shirt then get on in here.
