Aquatic Sports

Took there open water class, great instruction. Started last summer. Went to San Juan deal sur for a wedding and was going to do the open water dives while I was there. Didn’t work out after all. Kept trying to schedule a weekend in hood canal with aquatic sports to finish. They canceled their dive weekend in January, one of the only weekends I could have done it. Now they say I have to start over. It’s not worth it, just do your whole cert when you go on your first dive vacay. Especially if you don’t have every weekend off. I thought I would have finished it right away, but due to my work schedule and having to go for a whole weekend to hood canal it never worked. I guess that’s my fault for thinking I could do it here. I’m going to the Caicos in a few months and will do the whole thing in warm water, sounds better anyways.

Lost track of my dry suit, misquoted the repair, gave me a false turn around for the repair, and lied to my face about the brand of tank I was buying. Will NOT be going back there.
*update: just laid my BRAND NEW tank down after attaching it to myBC and part of the valve is rolling around at the bottom of the tank!!!

Wow — super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Stopped in for a mask and snorkel, got exactly what I wanted… And they even invited me to a BBQ they were in the middle of. I’ll be back for sure!

I took a freediving class with Colin at Aquatic Sports. The class was awesome! In 3 days we covered more than enough to give me the confidence (and courage) to attempt some super deep dives (just did 60ft in Maui). This is something that would have terrified me a month ago.
The staff was great. Aquatic Sports has both a ton of freediving gear, and a pool to help you refine your skills.
I can’t recommend these guys enough. More than just excellent teachers, they’re great people too!

We are novice snorkelers and were immediately waited upon. The young man was extremely helpful, prices were good, and we got great information. Awesome service and selection!

My son and I took the beginning open water certification class, including the open water weekend in Hoodsport. Carlos and the other instructors were extremely thorough, patient, and knowledgeable. They strongly encourage practicing on your own, and you can come in and use their pool to do so at any time. They provided us with the confidence and knowledge to feel comfortable diving on our own after we completed the course.
I don’t have another scuba place to compare it to, but from talking with friends I know that have been certified, I get the impression that Aquatic Sports is far more through and professional than some other places out there.

If you are looking for scuba gear this is a great place to go to. Jeff knows his stuff and is really a nice guy to deal with.

My wife and I gave ourselves scuba lessons for Christmas this year, and we found Aquatic Sports (AS) through a Living Social deal. We spend a lot of vacation time in Maui and we wanted to learn how to scuba do we could dive while on the island. We did our classroom and pool work in Portland, then did our open water dive this week in Maui after receiving our referral from AS.
The training we received at AS, and the equipment we purchased, made all the difference in the world. Our Open Water certification dives were a piece of cake after the extensive SSI training received through the Aquatic Sports program. Carlos Aguilar was our A.S. instructor, and he is top-​notch. His enthusiasm for the sport is infectious. He is patient, thorough, and extremely knowledgable.
One reviewer here complained about the push to purchase equipment. We did not feel pressured to buy our own equipment (other than your mask, snorkel, and fins, which are necessary). However, we wanted to buy our own diving equipment, and Carlos explained the advantages to buying certain items, due to warranties that wouldn’t otherwise be available. However, we understood that the choice was ours.
I can tell you that going from the confines of the AS pool, to the open waters of the Pacific Ocean, I felt a lot more confident and secure in my diving ability as a result of the training, education, and equipment received through the AS program. My wife and I thank Carlos for ensuring that we were truly prepared and able to get the most out of our first Maui diving adventure. We also appreciate Jeff, Adrian, John, and the rest of the AS crew for helping feed our enthusiasm for this wonderful sport.

Business aren’t always perfect but the owner reached out to me & said the program was new. They have since put together a new curriculum. For the fact that he read my review, & although was 3 stars (not bad), wanted to make my daughters experience even better, I have to add a star for great customer service! I wish your business well.

My experience at Aquatic Sports was fantastic — Colin is your man if you need any assistance — he is a great instructor and very knowledgeable on the sport. They have a pool which makes class time convenient, and offer both Saturday (all day) and Tuesday evening classes.
I am getting my open water certification elsewhere (warm, tropical waters), so I can’t speak to the certification dive, but I do feel that the course offered by Aquatic Sports gets you ready and comfortable for open water certification — the training is thorough. We also got most of our equipment there — I usually shop Amazon to get deals, but it’s best to buy at the shop so you can try equipment on, and take it back no hassel if it doesn’t work.
Great experience, highly recommend it.

Aquatic Sports is one of the best scuba resources in the area. It is ethically and intelligently managed, well equipped, and staffed by people whose commitment to diving is infectious. There are two shops in this area that I regularly recommend without hesitation, and this is certainly one of them. Their heated pool is located on-​site. Aquatic Sports is affiliated with NAUI, IANTD and SSI, if memory serves me, and they offer a broad spectrum of training possibilities. Customer service is excellent, and they’ve been a pleasure to deal with through the years.
