Autozone

Very quick and genuinely helpful. The guy answered all of my questions and got me in and out. He even greated the next guy behind me by name in American accented Spanish. He seemed to care about his job which you don’t always find at chain stores.

I have stopped in at this store to have my check engine light read. My pickup truck seems to have a different part die about every 3000 miles these days. LOL
They always read it for me, no charge. Generally they have a good idea of what’s going on, however, you can get someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about.
For example: I had an error message that indicated a bad oxygen sensor on one side upstream from the cat. First guy says «you have a bad O2 sensor on bank 1» second guy says «could be a lot of things, you probably need a tune up»
First guy had it exactly right, second guy didn’t realize that «tune up» is a very antiquated term being that most cars on the road these days have computers that «tune» the fuel mixture instead of the old fashioned carb.
I’m still giving them 4 stars because I always get the error code and 70% of the time they know what they are talking about. You have to remember, you can’t expect 100% accuracy from an auto parts store because all auto part stores probably do not pay their employees very well, the smart ones will move on.
UPDATE…
Went back for something else and I was waiting at the counter for about 5 minutes and this time no one even acknowledged my presence. This same slow service occurred on other occasions but I thought it was a one time thing… guess not. Got tire of waiting and went across the street to another store.
Lowered rating from 4 to 2 stars because of poor customer service.

Went here to get information on part numbers for Oxygen Sensors for my Toyota Camry. The guy behind the counter while friendly gave me the absolutely incorrect part numbers. Thank goodness I never ordered them without double checking the part numbers again or I would be out a bunch of money. A different store provided me with correct information. I dont think I would come here again as costly errors like that are not funny or entertaining.

I like Autozone for 2 reasons: 1) they rent code scanners and/​or can read your vehicle’s codes and tell you what they are if you bring it there (handy when you don’t know why the heck your check engine light is on), and 2) everything is laid out so nicely! I can walk into an Autozone and find what I need. They’re all laid out similarly and things are grouped together logically.
Now, service is always hit or miss with an auto parts store. This Autozone didn’t do too bad. The woman who answered the phone when I called seemed to know her stuff, but unfortunately she was in the back (manager?) when I got there. The young man up front was… OK. He was by himself and had 4 customers waiting in line. He didn’t panic or seem flustered, just kept on plugging and when another employee came along, simply asked him to help one of us. I was, however, a little irritated with him helping someone that came in after me first. I only needed to rent a code scanner. A quick, painless transaction. But this guy brought his lunch. He had original parts with him and was intricately comparing each one to the parts he ordered. Would’ve been a 4-​star rating had this not happened.
I’ll be back to this store, especially because it’s the only one near me that rents the code scanner. Oh, did I mention that’s a FREE service? (149.99 deposit that you get back upon returning scanner). Thanks, Autozone!
