Babies R Us

While traveling away on a trip and a rare opportunity to shop at babies R us for my granddaughters 1^st bday I guess they stock the shelves with unsaleable items??? Can’t be sold until some date in the future? Cabbage patch butterfly doll was in the bin with the rest and it says collect all 6.
I am taking pictures of items and texting for my daughter to help choose. She was excited to see the doll and knew the baby would love it. I have over $ 100 of items in my cart and they won’t sell me a $ 10 item.
I will return everything and not shop here again

We had a terrible experience here. The return policy is absurd and the management was not helpful at all. They were very rude. Go to carters across the street

I used to avoid baby stores like the plague before I was pregnant, and that was mostly due to all the kids with sticky hands and parents who don’t supervise and the feeling of having to duck whenever you hear the inevitable wet cough. It basically was like the plague. BUT, since finding out I am expecting my first baby, I thought I should test my baby gear knowledge and see what’s up.
I am glad I did. I went to a different BRU first on the other side of town and was disappointed with how worn down the store was, the lack of merchandise and general ick factor I got just from being there. The one in Jantzen Beach is seriously a treat. It is clean and the staff are super friendly and more helpful than I would ever imagine! We registered there and got great customer service through and through.
We get coupons in the mail and through email and so far our only return we needed to make was a breeze! My baby shower is coming up soon and I will update this review after that to reflect any returns I have to make at that point, but so far, so freakin’ good!

I recently received my BRUS reward money (which comes in the form of a coupon of an amount off your next purchase… in my case, $ 6.00/off.)
I find this feature fantastic, as I get a bit of money back from what I purchase there, and can go get things for basically free.
I used this money on Sunday to purchase 2 car shades for my little dude who is constantly being blinded by the PNW sun. (I can’t believe I just wrote that.) WE installed them, and found them lacking.
So, off I went to return these items and try a different shade. On the way there, I thought about how I was going to explain that I purchased them with my reward dollars, but am now returning them… and how I expected that I would be able to use my reward dollars on an item that would work for my family.
I didn’t really anticipate a problem, since I was sure this happened from time to time.
I got to the counter and explained my situation. A nice gal, Katie, didn’t really know what to do, so she called her manager (not faulting her, maybe she’d never encountered that problem.) The manager (Pam) stepped over and proceeded to tell me that it was a «one time use coupon.» I let her know that it was not ok that I couldn’t use my rewards dollars again, because I was returning a product that wasn’t going to work for my family. She continued to say it was a «ONE TIME USE» coupon (I use all caps because that is how she explained it to me. I let her know that I UNDERSTOOD what she was saying, but didn’t agree with her. (It should be noted that I was quite calm during this exchange, since I wasn’t going to get what I needed by being a jerk about it.
She then told me that she could call her other manager over, and maybe «she can explain it to you.» She called her manager over the radio, and moved to another customer. Poor employee Katie was standing near-​by while this happened. I smiled at her and let her know that I wasn’t trying to be a jerk, and I appreciated what she was doing. She smiled finally, and we chatted about random baby things until the next manager arrived. The manager JJ was told the situation by Pam, then she approached me.
I explained my situation and stated that I was frustrated that I couldn’t use the dollars I earned by spending money in this store on something that would work for my family. I told her that I was planning on getting a similar product instead. She askedif I was going to do that right now, and I replied yes. She then said, «well there is no reason we can’t do a straight exchange here. I mean, you just bought this product yesterday!»
HALLELUJAH, finally someone who got it! I watched Pam roll her eyes, and off I went to get the other shade, which incidentally cost 5.99. A straight exchange was done, and I was off on my way.
Thank you, JJ and Katie for making this experience a bit more civil, and I hope Pam gets written up for rudeness to a customer.

Lots of freebies and coupons, easy returns, good selection. Been here a handful of times and haven’t had a problem with checkout yet.
