This is the type of place you go to when you need a quick clean up and don’t want to pay for all the bells and whistles other shops offer. A men’s cut is $ 16 — you can’t really find another shop that offers that price in downtown — most now charge at least $ 25. This is especially helpful for someone like me who needs a cut every 3 weeks or so. The 2 or 3 women who work here are very nice, and they do a decent job. I’ll admit I’ve had some cuts here that were not that great, but for the price, I really can’t complain. Often just having a picture on my phone helps to give them an idea of what I want. I would schedule an appointment ahead of time to be safe, often same day appointments is easy.

Located on the ground floor of the Pacific Building, kitty corner to Pioneer Square, this small barber shop offers a great price($ 15) for a haircut, and you can easily get in and out in 20 minutes. They accept walk-ins but were pretty busy both of the days I was in there(once to set up an appointment, once for the haircut) so I would recommend calling ahead, or stopping by and being prepared to go elsewhere for 30 minutes while a space opens up. The woman cutting my hair was super nice and asked me a few questions before and during the cut to make sure she got it right. Good haircut, great price, and fast. I’m not sure what more you can ask for in a barber shop, except maybe a complimentary drink, which they also have(not beer though, you’ll have to go somewhere that costs $ 40 a haircut for that).

called one hour a head and got an appointment easily. I told them what I wanted(5 razor on the side fade into the top where I get a scissor cut) and they did it exactly. It was also cheap and quick. I would definitely recommend.

Was hard to find but worth it. HINT: Look for the White«Barber Q» fold up sign in the middle of the sidewalk which points the way. Go through the doors, past the elevators and all the way to the back wall. It’s on the right. I think the haircut I got here was probably the best I’ve ever received. The barber(a wonderful Vietnamese lady) took her time and paid attention to detail. Not one hair was out of place when she was finished. I highly recommend this place.

Best place in Portland for a hair cut! I live and work downtown. Spent about two years trying to find a place that would cut my hair for less then $ 30. Found this place. The ladies are awesome, they have been cutting my hair for over a year and doing a fantastic job. Great price. Great hair cuts.

Don’t trust the price on the sign. I was charged $ 20 for a simple short haircut, when the signs both outside and inside said $ 15. A good haircut, but I don’t like being lured in with one price and then charged another. I could have argued, but I also don’t like having to negotiate just to get the stated price.

Hey, why not go and get your haircut at the most urban location in the entire State of Oregon? Chances are high that most Portland residents unknowingly walk by an unassuming haircutter known as Barber-Q all the time. It can be found right next to Ben & Jerry’s and by extension Pioneer Courthouse Square. Once you see a small place marker for Barber-Q, you enter a big old office building where at the end of the hall on the right, you’ll see it. You get to sit down in some comfortable chairs and then hang your coat on their coat rack. They subsequently provide you a can of soda from their mini-fridge. Then, they give you a spectacular, but rather inexpensive haircut, and as a man, I know that they do very good buzzcuts. It usually takes them ten minutes for mine. Know the number of your hairline for cuts in the future and if you end up doing so, Barber-Q is your path to looking stylish. They are very conversational with their small talk and they are most certainly willing to help you in deciding your look. I get the buzz cut at level 2. It ranges from 1 to 5, with the one giving the least hair and five leaving the most. Two should work out for most men. Five seems criminally close to being as if it didn’t happen. Right in the heart of downtown, lies a barber that most people in Portland can quickly get to. Whether you take the MAX, the bus or the car, you can go here and get a haircut that you can easily be proud of. It might be a thirty minute wait, but they have a few locations where you’ll likely be able to just walk right in. They have other locations of Hawthorne and the Alberta Arts District. Also, I’ve reviewed them all. Barber-Q is a good place for an upcoming haircut.

I’ve been bouncing around looking for a barber ever since mine moved to Pittsburgh(dammit, Shannon). I’ve gone chain(disaster), I’ve gone young(flighty) and i’ve gone, hell I dunno, alternative(never trust a barber who plays his shitty hardcore band over the shop computer) and now I’m going back downtown. Quinn(or maybe Kwin? Her name wasn’t on the business card) knocked out three cuts without going Bishops bowl cut on anyone. The guy in front of me said he didn’t care what his hair looked like as long as it was short so he got the fast clipper treatment. I showed a little more concern so I got a little more time. I feel sorry for barbers, I’m pretty sure most guys have no idea what goes one when hair is cut nor how to describe what they want. But my hair is shorter, it took maybe fifteen minutes and cost $ 14. Hard to beat. I’ll be back.
