I’ve lived in Portland going on 4 years now, but never established with a waxer here in town. Call me crazy, but I was happy to go to the place I’d always known in my hometown on my visits home because the thought of finding a quality waxer in the sea of studios in Portland seemed so daunting.
I did a lot of research online and finally decided on Bare Beauty Waxing Studio. Hands down, my experience with Marianne was the best waxing experience I’ve ever had. Her studio is clean, modern, and inviting. She is both professional and personable. We got to talking as she worked away and we were done in a flash. Her technique was quick and painless, she was gentle and thorough, and made sure I was happy with the end result.

Super professional, clean studio and a super sweet experience! New to the area and tried other salons, but nothing compares to Bare Beauty! I tried based on a Unilocal email I received rating the best waxing salons in Portland. Easy to schedule and park. And, it’s a beautiful space!

I have been going to Marianne consistently for the better part of a year. Marianne is simply the best. I’ve been to many different salons for services and I would never go to anyone else after receiving the care and professionalism from Marianne. I highly recommend her, not to mention her adorable space.

My mom and grandma are both estheticians and I’ve been getting waxed since I was twelve. Moving to Portland I didn’t know where to go for my hair removing needs, and I had a bad experience at Urban Waxx.
After visiting Bare Beauty I recommend all my friends or anyone who is afraid of being waxed to go to Marianne! She is professional, trustworthy, and cool!

Marianne is amazing! I had only gotten waxed once before a log time ago so I was a bit nervous until I met her… she totally eased any of my worries & was SO nice & easy to talk to! Very clean, cute & private studio too! She gave me lots of tips & suggestions when I asked questions & was very clear with her world of knowledge in this field. I am so glad I chose her to do my waxing & I would not go anywhere else if I wasn’t already planning on moving to LA in a couple weeks. Marianne was fabulous! I was looking for someone for my first Brazilian wax, and stumbled upon Marianne at Bare Beauty. Due to some time constraints, she didn’t have any availability when I could make it there. I thought I would email her and see if she could fit me in, even though her schedule said she was full. Sure enough, she fit me in on a sunday afternoon! What great customer service! She was a doll! Very kind, welcoming, and even though the waxing was a bit painful, she made the time fly! Her studio is very clean and bright-​definitely had a welcoming feel to it! I will definitely be going back to her, and I might even become a regular :)

Marianne is fantastic! I was seeing her at Urban Waxx, but when she started Bare Beauty Waxing Studio, I followed, as she always did such a great job :) She makes you feel so comfortable and at ease, no matter the kind of day you’re having. But she is genuine. I feel often that you get the sound of a bubbly voice, but you can sense an annoyed/​unhappy employee behind the act. Marianne is always genuine and kind.
Her studio is so clean, bright, relaxing, cute, and it’s a room you could just hang out in. The was she uses is great, I used to always get terrible ingrown hairs afterward, but with her and this wax, Im so much better. It also hurts much less. She is very thorough, asks the right questions, pays attention to detail, and you can tell she really cares about what she is doing. She is so sweet, always a joy to see, when you have to go do the thing you don’t particularly enjoy doing. She makes it so much better!
I’ll definitely keep going back for as long as I need waxing! And refer all my friends and family. Thanks for doing such great work Marianne!

Marianne is the best, makes you feel so comfortable and is so pleasant to talk to. I would highly recommend this place ! I will never go anywhere else for my waxing :) never had any problems she is the best. Easy to find, plenty of parking ! All I can say is you won’t be sorry… :)

I have had a Unilocal account for a while now, and I’m not the type to actually leave a review. However, after my experience how could I not?
I stopped waxing regularly for a while now ever since my long-​time waxer stopped working. I’ve also tried out many waxers and they do not compare to Marianne! She’s very nice and makes you feel really welcomed. Her studio makes you also feel very at ease and comfortable, especially if you’re going after a long day at work.
The best part is, Marianne knows what she’s doing! I’m actually pain sensitive, and this was the most comfortable wax ever. There is no pain! And I have had some uncomfortable experiences with different waxers. I definitely plan to start going more regularly as long as it’s Marianne!

Marianne is fantastic! Not only is she very good at what she does, but she is kind, welcoming and makes the entire experience of waxing a great one.
I have had other estheticians in Portland and beyond, and Marianne stands above the rest.
If you’re new to waxing I strongly recommend Marianne. She not only makes you feel comfortable, but walks you through the entire process so you know what to expect. I have recommended Marianne to a number of people for both first-​time and repeat services, and none of them have had anything less than a great experience.
The Bare Beauty space is wonderful as well. Its a warm space that is beyond clean (and I’m super picky) but is also very welcoming and comfortable.

I have been getting waxed for years, and over that amount of time, I’ve gone to various people to get this procedure done. Marianne, hands down, takes the all-​time trophy for the BEST ever that I’ve experienced. She’s virtually eliminated even the thought of getting any in-​growns between services, she’s articulate, and friendly while remaining professional. When she left Urban Waxx, I was devestated after reluctantly trying out someone else that worked there and having a terrible experience in comparison.
So happy to have discovered she opened her own operation. It’s much easier currently to get an appointment with her (vs. Urban Waxx) and the location of her studio is centrally located here in Portland. I have sent other girlfriends her way who have had only the best reviews for her and will continue to do the same.

I’ve paraded my lady bits all over this town and had more than a few pairs of hands grooming my business and I can honestly say Marianne is one of the best.
I was overjoyed to meet her when she was working at another studio. Her previous studio had multiple waxers and I randomly cycled through them because no one was especially talented. But… once I found Marianne, I was hooked! She’s really through and one of the best waxers I’ve ever had at preventing ingrown hairs — the bane of of my existence (well, at least one of them).
I am so thankful I was able to reconnect with her now that she’s opened her own shop. Not only is she super skilled, her place is clean, convenient and super cute.

I absolutely adore Marianne! I wouldn’t even think about seeing anyone else! Each wax is perfect and painless. Her new space is super adorable and so inviting! The products that she uses are awesome and even with my sensitive skin I’ve never had any problems. She’s very thorough and extremely friendly. I was seeing Marianne at Urban Waxx and as soon as I met her I made sure to see her every time. However once Marianne left I decided to give this new waxer at Urban a chance. I was not impressed and it was really uncomfortable, needless to say after that I sought out Marianne because she makes makes me feel like a friend and at the same time she is always stays professional. She has this wonderful way of making me laugh which is helpful for when she rips the hair out.
Her new place was easy to find and her instructions on her website helped immensely on how to get into the building. Her work area was bright and very warm. Loved the pastel colors she chose. Very clean!
As for her technique, Marianne gets the wax on and let’s it cool a bit then she rips it off like a band aid. When she is finished she just touches the area she just waxed which is incredibly comforting.
Prices are reasonable and Marianne is really good about keeping her waxing time though I want to stay longer because I love chatting with her.
I also had a date the evening of my last appointment, she usually does my bikini first and then my eyebrows but I didn’t want to be red in the face later. She was incredibly accommodating and she used this tea tree oil afterward that was incredibly soothing.
My date never even knew. Marianne is awesome and I will not see anybody else as long as she’s waxing and worth every penny.

Marianne is wonderful! A pleasure to talk to and she makes the whole experience as gentle and comfortable as it can be. She offers thoughtful tips for skin care and maintenance, without any product pushing. She has put a lot of thought into the experience of her clients and won’t offer anything but the best experience!

Moving to a new state last summer, one of my concerns was finding a new place to get waxed, and more importantly… the person doing the waxing! After combing through Unilocal,making calls, I was placed with Marianne and Urban Wax and have been so pleased ever sense!
Marianne is so bubbly, positive, welcoming, professional and amazing at what she does! Marianne is very detailed orientated, which comes in handy! I always feel very comfortable and know I am in trusting hands when I see her for Brazilians and the end results are always fabulous!

i’m crazy about marianne and bare beauty waxing. she’s a perfectionist, she’s quick, she’s super affordable, and she’s just in general amazing.
i seriously, thoroughly enjoy my time with her, even though my time is spent having the hair pulled off my body (sensitive, private areas of my body at that).
i’ve had some just-​okay waxing experiences at other places in the past, even some decent waxes, but no one has ever made me feel as comfortable as marianne has — and i’ve never happier with the results.
her studio is adorable too, by the way. and the wax she uses is great.
