Well now, this was totally scrumptious! This food cart /pod is located at the Alder Pod on 10th and Alder. I had the BBQ sliders(yes 2, hey I’m visiting, hungry and burning off tons o’ calories walking!) with coleslaw, I added the white bbq sauce, it was really good with this sandwich, although it would have been fine without it. The BBQ pork was as tender as tender can be and the coleslaw was cold, crisp and delish. The sandwich was handed to me at just the right temp and I was able to dig right in. Buns were just the right crispness. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and there was no line. Some of the cart/pods had pretty long lines, give this place a shot, you will not be disappointed. $ 7.00 for my lunch, that’s with a soda and small tip, can’t beat that!

Wow. I’m so pleasantly surprised! Pulled pork sandwich so tender, excellent smoked flavors, awesome bbq sauce, zippy mayo(and I’m not a mayo lover). I loved it so much I wanted to call him back to tell him how thankful I was for sharing his creation! I’ll be back and I’ll tell everyone I know about it! I haven’t had legit bbq since I’ve moved back to Portland. Thank you for this! For the love of BBQ I’ll be back!

This place has some of the best bbq chicken in town. Tryed the bowl and it was great. Good prices and service as well.

So the food here is amazing. I’m from Texas and the smoked meat here is awesome. The smokiness of the meat is just right. I bought the pulled pork combo with beans and coleslaw. I think they must make their own bbq sauce cause the flavor is not that of regular store bought sauce. And finally you have to try the Alabama white sauce it really complements the meat. Best thing about this place is you can tell it’s clean unlike others I have tried around that area.

There’s a reason coach popavich of the Spurs like to go to this cart when he is in town. Get a pulled pork sandwich, than put the slaw and beans on it. Slather that baby in some Alabama White Sauce and you’re golden.

I’m not sure where the«fusion» exactly is but the BBQ part is dead on. Theor pork is better than their chicken. Their bowls are better than their sandwiches. At first the bowl looks a little small but they really pack it in there. I felt that it was a much better value than the sandwich. There are plenty of BBQ carts around but I’ve been coming back to this one more than the others. I think it’s for their beans actually. They’ve got a really great flavor.

Ok, so BBQ fusion is a stretch. It’s not really fusion. But it is really good BBQ. I have had the pulled pork and the brisket in all its variations and cannot fault either the preparation, presentation, or flavor. :)) I have the pulled pork bowl with double cole slaw and no rice or beans. Add some home made Alabama White Sauce or their traditional bbq sauce and it’s an epicurean delight. Recently changed hands from Ernest and I was worried about the quality and flavor. No worries! Nice transition! The go to BBQ spot if you’re downtown and in a hurry.

Probably my favorite quick and inexpensive lunch option, and that’s saying a lot considering the abundance of quality food carts in Portland. My go-to is the Beef Brisket Bowl, with rice, beans and a little coleslaw. The BBQ sauce is sweet and the Alabama hot sauce is peppery. The brisket itself is moist and smokey, and they don’t skimp on the meat.

I consistently enjoy the brisket sandwich here and really appreciate that he uses ranch-style beans instead of those awful Boston-baked abominations. The brisket is flavorful and has a proper smoke ring, while his sauce reminds me of Luling City BBQ in Houston. There is not a lot of good brisket in Portland. This is one of the better and easier places to get it.

I’ve been a big fan of ‘BBQ Fuze’ for a while. They changed the name BUT the cart is still in the exact same spot and has the same delicious pulled pork and/or brisket that kept my friends and I returning religiously. I always throw my side of slaw on the sandwich(brisket or pulled p) and order an orange soda. The man that works there is really friendly and nice. Also, and this is a cool tidbit, Greg Popovich(sp?) likes to visit the cart whenever his San Antonio Spurs come to play the Trail Blazers. If its good enough for POP — it should be good enough for you! :)

Located in a high concentration of the most amazing food trucks and excellent brick-and-mortar restaurants, BBQ Fusion stands out by offering a high quality menu with a great selection of large and small plates, all smothered in excellent service, a bit of fusion and great prices. My favorite things are their pork, brisket and chicken sliders that come packed with flavor and tenderness at a minimal $ 2.50 each.

For $ 7, two buns stuffed with brisket, and a side of cole slaw and baked beans. Just came out of a workout and picked this up, and looking at the other reviews, I was almost resistant to rave about what a great experience I had eating this meal. The brisket was very tender; the cole slaw, albeit not having much taste to it, I felt gave a nice cold crisp to the palette; the baked beans had a chili flavor to them, which was a delicious contrast to everything else. It all worked together. I loved it, and it was very filling.

BBQ Fusion is one of my downtown lunch staples because of the $ 5 chicken-rice-beans bowl. It’s tough to find lunch for $ 5 or less these days, especially with food this tasty. I was surprised to read the negative reviews here and made it a point to try the brisket and pulled pork again. The brisket is not exactly KC or Texas style BBQ, but it is slow cooked in a smoker with rub and has some of the fat cap left on(which may or may not be your thing). It is what I consider to be barbecued pulled brisket – a bit smoky and fall apart tender. The pulled pork is not exactly a particular style like Carolina, but it too is slow cooked with rub, a bit smoky, and fall apart tender. The beans are listed as BBQ Pinto beans. They have a subtle earthy spice to them. They are not sweet or(noticeably) salty. They may be the most fusion-y thing currently on the menu because they’re somewhere in between baked beans and Cuban style black beans. BBQ is a world which invites some passionate defense of certain styles, and calling good food bad because it does not conform to a particular style is like saying chili is bad chili because it has/doesn’t have beans, or that Aerosmith sucks because rock means southern rock, and only Skynyrd is southern rock. And we all know Aerosmith is better than Skynyrd because they have vowels in the name, right?

I can’t say enough about the awesomeness of this cart… as soon as I got off the bus at the Greyhound station I walked through pouring rain just to get my mix&match bowl fix… I go pulled pork with no coleslaw and then I use generous helpings of the Alabama white sauce… to say it hit the spot is like saying the Grand Canyon is just a big damn hole in the ground, mere understatement… I’d love to try other things here but I can’t stop ordering the bowl… and the service has always been beyond awesome…

I went downtown some time ago and have totally forgot to write about this one Ernest was the man behind the counter and loving food &BBQ this was a no brainer he served a mean pulled pork with a very tangy twinge, it was to die for the bun was nothing to Unilocal about but all in all very good, he opened a coffee cart for his wife on 50th& Division but it was short lived and no longer owned by Ernest & his wife, good luck on the new baby, maybe we will see the baby working at the cart someday.

Are you friggin’ kidding me with this?! Backing up… I’ve finished my tour of all of the food carts on SW5th and Oak and am now on to the carts on 10th and Alder(yaaay me!). I do the Go-Box thing so I tend to gravitate toward the carts that provide Go-Box’s(and fyi — this one doesn’t which is why I had to knock it down a star). I’ve had quite a few good meals from this block over the last couple of weeks and was on my way back for another round, but noticed that a lot of the carts were not yet open. It had just turned 11 o’clock and many were in the process of opening but I was hungry NOW! So I went across the street and saw the sign for BBQ Fusion — it had me at BBQ(and I respect a sign that has an «F-u» in it… for«Fusion». they didn’t really say F-U). I ordered the mixed bowl with beans, cole slaw, brisket and chicken — it’s silly good. Perfect lunch portion for a mere $ 5 and the flavors are making me religious! Also — the Alabama White Sauce the guy recommends? Do it! Should I have eaten the whole bowl in about 2 minutes flat? Probably not. Will the person in the next meeting I go to likely regret sitting next to me? Definitely(see ingredients in mixed bowl). Am I warmed up from inexpensive awesome food on a 40 degree day in downtown Portland? Yepper, that’s a Roger. Bön food eating, ya’ll.

Pita-style Wraps offer a simple but winning innovation to the usual Ciabatta or french roll or white bread. I tried the(spicy) pulled pork and found it more sweet ‘n’ savory than spicy per se, and the experience made me regret for the upteenth time I haven’t devised a concealed holster yet for discretely but oh-so necessarily carrying my own lil’ bottled liquid hot m-a-g-m-a, for those eateries who offer Texas Pete or some such, and point to it, helpfully, when asked if they have HOT sauce… For later consumption, I also picked up the brisket, which the owner/operator of the Fusion says is his best seller. The Brisket was tremendous. So nicely cooked! Melt in ya mouth savory! A very enthusiastic star or two for the brisket alone! The dirty dirty rice w/gravy was interesting and… we’ll leave it at that. The most interesting part was, I don’t recall ordering rice – dirty or otherwise— from this cart… I waited quite a while to be in the land of the living during normal daytime operational hours, to give BBQ Fusion as well as several of its highly-touted neighbors a go. I found BBQF’s 3 star cume to be just about right. Will be back to try the ribs, and will amend rating as per necessary…

Located in the 10th and Alder pod annex, this cart offers chicken tenders with various options of spices, where the fusion comes in. Spices: Thai, Mediterranean, and Cajun Also comes with lots of rice and a side of beans. Pretty basic for $ 6. It’s all okay, but it reminds me of my cheap meals I make at home. They have BBQ ribs coming soon and lots of sauces sitting on the counter. Just not a super-exciting meal, but probably one of the speediest meals you can order in the area.
