Bearly Read Books is a «trade in» store. This means that in addition to their fairly low prices for paperback(½ the cover price plus .70 cents per book), they’ll take what you have in trade(no cash payouts) and let you run an account against book purchases. Every ten receipts gets you any book in the store free, plus a free book during your birthday week and many other bonus offers for regular customers. A bit heavy on romance and«grandma» mysteries, Bearly Read has plenty of classics, recent NYT bestsellers and cool treasures for the reader willing to poke around a bit. Plus, they have in-shop cats… so, they’ve got that going for them.

I LOVE this bookstore! I had been in here about 10 years ago and brought a whole slew of books. When I moved back into the area, low and behold, they still had my credit! This place is crammed full of used books and I could spend hours in here. I usually just run straight over to the area of the books that I’m currently reading, grab a few, and leave. One of these days I’ll take the time to peruse a little more. If you are looking for something they don’t have, you can give them the info and when they get it in, they’ll call you. Great place!

It’s been quite a few years, but I used to go to Bearly Read Books a lot when I was younger. Only recently have I begun visiting again. Bearly Read is a wonderful place for used paperbacks, with the largest amount of western paperbacks of any of the used bookstores I have reviewed here. Yes more than those big guys too, and that’s where the puns begin… I sure hope I don’t Embearass myself with this review. Abearently they are not too picky about the quality of some of the paperbacks because some of the bindings are not in beary good shape, however, there are so many copies I have always been able to find a good clean version that didn’t have to much wear. The cute little stamp in the front of the books is a constant reminder of where the book came from, but also concerns me sometimes since I collect books and hate to see stamps on them. I know these may not be beary funny to some of you but I couldn’t help it… Bearing in mind that the shop is really quite small, upon walking in a person could become bearalized at the number of paperbacks that are organized into such a small space. The place is nearly bearied in books from wall to wall, very neatly laid out in wall units. See my pictures. So before this review becomes unbearable, I will just say that for the casual reader looking for a low priced way to get popular paperbacks, this is a very good option, with great, friendly service and good organization. The pricing is a little weird so I took a picture of the pricing formula sheet that is current as of this review date. In short terms its half the cover price plus .60 cents. For credit card users beware there is a .70 cent fee for card use over cash. Bearly read books is on my, when I am in the neighborhood list of places to stop, not my go out of the way to get there list. Give them a try; I think you will enjoy the people and the quantity of paperbacks.
