I was brought in and there were six more of us but it was so good! The food is delicious and was freshly made. It is a cute place for a treat or if you are craving some glutton!

What a great place! It’s very coffee shop esc inside. They serve breakfast until 11. My breakfast sandwich was pretty good; nothing fancy. The cashier is what made my visit so nice. He was very funny and friendly. My sister and I ended up spending an hour here just drinking coffee and doing a crossword puzzle. Very chill place. I will definitely be back.

A+ for the cinnamon pecan pastry — Super flaky, cinnamony, sweet and indulgent. Studded with lightly tart raisins, this one is a winner! Oatmeal raisin cookie — a little disappointing to be honest! One big cookie, yet only a single-hand count of raisin bits. If you like eating very plain cookies, this one is for you! Will probably order something else next time. Rye bread — Fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Big Sky does a wonderful Rye bread and it is delicious for home made turkey avocado sandwiches, and guess what — Nutella sandwiches!!! The sandwiches on the menu look good, but I’ve never tried ‘em. Come early on the weekend to make sure they don’t sell out of your desired pastry. Around 10am, still lots of selection remaining.

So I’m a fan in particular of their English Muffin Bread — if you like English muffins — this takes the muffin to many more uses as a sandwich bread and easy to toast. I went in this week and was able to snag a loaf. No preservatives, but it freezes well so it can be enjoyed for quite some time. Try it!

Amazing sandwiches, apathetic staff. I’ve stopped in here for lunch a few times, and every time I do I swear I won’t be back because the staff are so incompetent. But then I eat my lunch and it’s sooooooo delicious that I always end up returning. The most recent time I dropped by with a friend, who ordered a strawberry spinach salad. You order and pay at a little counter, then take a seat at a table while you wait for your food to be prepared. My sandwich comes out, no problem. But after 10 minutes of waiting, no sign of the salad. My friend goes up to the counter and asks when her salad will be ready. «Ummmmm,» says the girl working the register, «we are actually out of spinach.» My friend asks if the salad can be made with mixed greens instead, and is left waiting while the girl goes to check. After a minute or two, she returns, and informs my friend that not only are they out of spinach, they are also out of strawberries. And goat cheese. And literally every other ingredient in the strawberry spinach salad(for which my friend has already paid). The staff member kind of shrugs her shoulders, then stares at my friend without saying anything more. At this point we’re fed up, and my friend asks for her money back so we can just leave. The staff member gives a big sigh, and tells us we’ll have to wait for someone else to process a refund because she needs to get back to the register. I’m willing to bet this girl wouldn’t say a thing if the very next customer ordered a strawberry spinach salad, she’d just swipe the credit card and send the order slip back into oblivion. Eventually another employee came out to process the refund, but no explanation(or apology) was ever given for why we were left to wait 10 minutes for a salad they knew all along could not be made. So for now I’m swearing this place off, but sadly I know I’ll eventually be back for another sandwich with a side order of ineptitude.

Straight up awesome old school bread. Challah daily! Epic granola, scones, and a variety of frequently changing specialty items. Organic coffee, homemade soups, and salads or sandwiches made to order round out the excellent offerings. Limited eat in space, lovely architecture, very eco friendly and lightly bohemian vibe. A must stop on the morning doggie walk! They have outdoor seating with a water dish for pets.

Great little bakery at Woodfords corner directly across from Bayou Kitchen. It’s open and cavernous, and my guess would be that is a repurposed fire station or garage. All of their baked goods(made with love) are on display on shelves or in cases attached to the counter, and they have a display of today’s ‘breads & sweets’ above the coffee station. I haven’t tried their breads yet, but I can attest for their granola and breakfast sandwiches(on homemade English muffins, cooked in a griddle right behind the counter). Yum-my. Apparently they sell out of their bagels incredibly early, so you need to be in Black Friday shopping mode to snag one. Staff is friendly and attentive, and they can put aside the fact they’ve been laboring over hot ovens to assist customers with a smile. And they have 3 or 4 samples at the counter to try while you wait for your order to come up. As others have noted, the wait seems to be abnormally long — I think I had to wait about 15 minutes for a breakfast sandwich once, and it almost got to that awkward point where I thought they had forgotten about me. If you’re in a rush, stop somewhere else. Also, I’d like to see them show their coffee station a little love. This could be the one place in town that DOESN’T serve CBD. And it often takes about 17 hand pumps to eke out enough coffee to fill a cup. Overall, super happy to have this bakery in my neighborhood. Stop in if you get the chance!

We found this great spot after a morning run along Back Cove. In an old firehouse, the atmosphere is great as it is also a working, and very busy, bakery. We all had cinnamon buns, then got an apple cinnamon scone, shortcake biscuits(which we took with jam to the beach later). But absolute BEST of all is the granola! We buy granola at various places we travel to & even have a favorite at home, but nothing compares to Big Sky granola. A great find in a neighborhood a short distance from downtown Portland.

Completely amazing bread bakery. Such an awesome selection that I couldn’t make up my mind. Bought English muffin bread and cinnamon rolls! Can’t wait to go back!

The bread here is delicious… Too bad the lady behind the counter was the rudest person I’ve encountered in a long time! They forgot part of our order and gave us serious attitude about it. Also their salad dressing is pre packaged and has msg in it. Overall good bread but everything else is sub par :(

This place still smells the same as when my mom used to bring me in when I was 5. They always have samples out and I remember always opting in when I was little. I bet parents appreciate that more than big Skye knows! They always have a vast selection of treats, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Today I had a salad with grilled chicken, it was quick, fresh, and satisfying. I love their selection of iced tea, but I think it was a little too early in the season for them to have those up on offer, maybe next time!

There are a lot of amazing bakeries in Portland. Perhaps because of that fact Big Sky was not on my radar at all. BUT I stumbled upon it one day while in the neighborhood attempting to eat at the Bayou Kitchen(a LONG story that I hope to share via a review sometime soon). I dig this place. It’s VERY low-key and unassuming. They offer a variety of fresh breads and other sweet treats. They also have breakfast sandwiches on an English muffin which I tried today. I opted for the egg and cheese with harvarti dill. It was very tasty, but a bit small. I could’ve definitely eaten more than 1. I wasn’t familiar with their coffee supplier, but the brew was good– very strong. My only suggestion would be to get better cups and/or lids for their to-go coffee. The current option was not the best and left me feeling like I was going to have hot coffee running down my arms if I tried to drink it while moving. I tried the cinnamon roll(they always have free samples) and man, it was good! Also, the workers are friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit of a pain, but technically you’re still in the city and finding a spot on a side street shouldn’t be too difficult.

Great place. Staff wasn’t all that friendly but the product is fantastic! Always fresh. Very accommodating for food allergies! –EDIT! I went back yesterday and had a very nice experience. I think that I caught them on a bad day in my previous post(thank you Amanda R.!). The staff was very informative and friendly. :)

FIVESTARS for the AMAZING sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich I got the other day! But minus one for the unusually long wait and awkwardness of everything. While I love breakfast sandwiches, I hadn’t found a place nearby where I could happily spend over $ 3 on one until now. The breads, the giant windows with the beautiful morning sun shining in, and the way that the food gets brought out to customers dining in were huge plusses; but the empty register as I stood there confused, the 10-minute wait for my food, and the strangely unhappy vibe I was getting from the people at the register definitely threw me off. As food was brought out to people, it seemed like this was only being done because it was a required part of the job description rather than a nice way to deliver a meal. I had read about the samples and I was excited to try them until I asked… and then was met with the most tepid reaction ever. Since the egg sandwich was SOGREAT, I’ll assume that it was being super 100% freshly made to account for the time. I also get that there’s probably a million other things to do behind the counter. However, it’s really the lack of any sign of friendliness that knocked off that final star for me.

This bakery is a plethora of baked bread and other delicious goodies! Also, when you walk in, you’ll notice that the area where they bake is out in the open; it’s nice when bakeries show you what and where they bake(it’s where the magic happens). It was about noon when we stepped inside and I was having a split decision mind on breakfast or lunch. Lunch it was! I went for the Turkey Panini w/tomato, dill HAVARTI, and homemade sundried tomato mayo. I capitalized Havarti because it’s one of my favorite cheeses. Anyway, back to the sandwich that I just inhaled. There was enough Havarti on the french bread to soak up all the flavors from the tomato mayo, the tomato, and turkey. On the side, I had some beef stew. I was having a good time until I noticed how fatty the beef was. I wasn’t a fan, but I ate it up anyway because I didn’t want to waste it. Next time I venture out there, I’ll try the other delicious goodies on their menu!

My sandwich was good, my soup was on the yummy side of standard but my overall experience was meh. The cranberry turkey sandwich was well balanced and tasty. I would have preferred somewhat more of a gourmet turkey than your standard deli meat but the price was reasonable so it was fine. A couple more choices for cheese would be a great upgrade, imo. A smoked gouda perhaps? The corn chowder was good, nothing original. What throws it down to a three instead of a four? The overall vibe was a bit stale for me and the amount of time it took for a cold sandwich and soup seemed long. About 15 minutes. No one seemed happy to be there. Not that they seemed unhappy either. Just. Very serious. I like my neighborhood joints where I pay more to support local ingredients and people to be a bit more happy to see their customers

Continuing my quest for a great breakfast sandwich brought me here. I have to say, it was so delicious I almost drove back from the office for another. Maybe would have if I wasn’t positive the counter staff would have recognized me again… The egg was freshly fried(score! Can’t stand generic ‘egg patties’), choice of cheese, and warm and soft in a grilled english muffin. Just the classic sandwich, done well. Also had a sample of a cinnamon bun while waiting — wow — oh so good. Grabbed a flyer for thanksgiving orders, considering outsourcing my t-day bread responsibilities to them. Will def be back! Perhaps ordering 2 sandwiches next time… I’ll just pretend one is for a coworker…

Good place to get bread but the foundation of them all is very similar. I am a big fan of the sandwiches and can’t help but always walk out with a loaf. I would suggest stopping by! I am always kinda feeling like the loaves are similar to each other(except the english muffin bread which is GREAT!). I am still always waiting for someone to make a killer sour dough too. The good news is there’s always bread to sample and it makes you want to keep eating it!

Can you guess the first instant thought that came into my head as I entered this brick building? The wonderful smell of freshly made bread. I will have to go back to taste their pastries and loaves(will give an update!). MYORDER: — Breakfast sandwiches(english muffin + egg + ham + cheese). Pretty good and filling. PROS: — Free samples — Paper recycling(clean and unused only) — Small coffee & station. Water cups are available. — Community bulletin board available for those that need to spread the word! — Newspapers for your daily dose of news — Good prices for good quality! — Plenty of tables & chairs — Good for families and hanging out with friends CONS: — Parking is a little tough. 1 hour &15 minute parking spots are available around the bakery but you can park by the neighborhoods surrounding the area and take a quick stroll down towards the bakery. — Confusing one way or two way streets. So if you’re a first timer, you may not find it immediately. TIPS/OTHER: — Credit cards are accepted
