Bike Gallery – Woodstock

I just got my bike back from the bike gallery on Woodstock and I am so happy with it! My bike looks good and now I can stop on a dime. I love riding my bike but am not very knowledgable — however, the employees at the bike gallery are always patient with me and very friendly. I feel very comfortable bringing my bike to them for anything because their recommendations are based on my best interest rather than making a sale. Thanks guys!!!

This bike shop is great! All the employees I’ve talked to have been very helpful and friendly. I never feel like they are talking down to me, despite my minimal knowledge about bikes. I also don’t feel like they try to sell me unnecessary goods/​services. Just got my bike back from a tune-​up and I am so excited to ride it to work tomorrow! Very happy this is my neighborhood bike shop.

I just bought a new road bike at Bike Gallery and had a great experience. I talked to an employee and got the lowdown on some bike stuff and took two bikes for a test drive around the neighborhood. He told me to take as much time as I needed so I would decide what is right for me. I decided on the bike that was right for me and the employee gave me ten percent off new pedals and a shorter stem for the handlebars and gave me a very good deal. The bike was already discount so I got a very good deal from them and he gave me some recommendations on certain parts and gave me a very straight up answers, not employee trying to sell you stuff BS answers. Overall, a great experience and I ended up with the bike I love.

I’ve got to admit that I was a little hesitant to switch bike shops but alas I tried out Bike Gallery after going to Oregon Bike Shop for years (they’re great too but I moved).
The team at this store is spot on! Other bike gallery stores have employees that aren’t quite as knowledgable but the Woodstock crew is SPOT ON!
I started shopping there for smaller accessories and then started bringing my old cannondale there for repairs. They’re always super helpful, straight shooters, no BS approach to sales and service. They won’t try to up sell you ever but they will just help you become aware of options and what makes sense for each rider.
Great shop for a brick and mortar shop.

The folks working here were nice and helpful. They over charged me, I had to point it out. At the end of the day they called me because in fixing there error they charged me again instead of crediting me.
Also just purchased an overpriced 2^nd hitch for my sons trail behind bike. For the 35 $ it at least came with some extra parts. Except it was missing one of the locking washers that are necessary to attach the hitch. They offered to take it back. Nice enough, but I would rather have what I paid for because. It will be easier for me to go get my own washer rather than mess with that mess again.

Every time I go into this location I am helped right away by a skilled salesman or mechanic. All the guys are friendly and knowledgable. They take care of my repairs/​needs the very same day. I just had my shifting system replaced and Aaron and Christopher did an amazing job. It looks great and the shifting is magical! I appreciate their swift and detailed work! Prices seem fair and they usually give me a deal on labor if I’m buying a bunch of stuff. I won’t get repairs anywhere else from now on!

I brought my bike in that needed a flat repair, new tires, and the brakes adjusted. Chris, (bike technician) went above and beyond to help me pick out the correct commuting tires. He spent extra time to show me how to repair a flat & how to reset the tire on the wheel as well as just sharing many tips & general knowledge about bikes. The entire staff was very helpful & knowledgeable while we browsed the store looking for accessories. I definitely recommend The Bike Gallery to anyone needing bike service & accessories.

These guys earn 5 stars every time. There is no place else for me.

I was very impressed with the bike fit specialist, Ben. His knowledge and professionalism were far beyond what I expected. I came in thinking he was just going to make a few small adjustments on my bike, but ended up with what felt like an entirely new bike! Since my fitting, I have been so much more comfortable and efficient on my rides. It is obvious that Ben is passionate about his work and has many years of experience in the field. I will continue to go to him with all my future bike needs.

Just bought a new full suspension bike from these guys yesterday and they could not have been more helpful.
After hitting a few other popular bike shops in Portland that didn’t have what I wanted or were unable to get me the right size, price, etc… I ended up at my neighborhood Bike Gallery. I should have started here.
Shawn and the rest of the staff made every effort to help me find the right bike. When I first arrived, I noticed they didn’t have any full suspension bikes. I almost walked out, but I figured why not ask if I missed something. Shawn confirmed they had nothing at that location, but asked more questions to see why I wanted a full suspension bike and exactly what I was looking to do with it. He showed me some bikes online and I quickly recognized that the price range was going to be the same as the other shops. I had hoped to be under $ 2k, but that didn’t look possible for what I needed. Then, Shawn said he would search the clearance inventory at other locations. Boom! He found the perfect bike in my size and under 2 grand. He had it shipped over the next day, I test rode it and fell in love. End of story.

Went in with a simple question awhile back, and ended up waiting 20 minutes to speak with someone. Both the cashier and the older service tech were too busy looking busy. By the time the tech got to me he rolled his eyes and pawned me off on a younger tech who appeared from the back and was actually quite helpful, but the wait and unprofessional attitudes of the other staff left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be going back for more.

I don’t own a car. My bike and my feet are my main methods of transportation. My bike is old and heavy, but it gets me around just fine. So when I go into a shop to get new tires, I don’t expect to have some middle-​aged hippie go full used-​car salesman on me and tell me I need an entirely new bike. And yet here we are.
This was just the most recent in a long line of disappointments coming from this shop. From botched repairs to incomplete work, it seems like there is always something going wrong when I take my bike here. I’ve gotten it to the point where I will ONLY go in for emergency tire situations. And now, I won’t even be taking her in for that.
They over-​charge labor and they are upsellers here. Every time I go in, suddenly my bike needs this thing and that thing and the other thing.
I will say, if I was a weekend warrior and knew nothing about bikes and wanted an expensive candy-​colored bike to ride along the Esplanade, this would be my choice. This place is entirely geared toward selling expensive, stylish Trek bikes to suburban family folk, which is absolutely fine. At the end of the day, I support any endeavor that gets people out and riding their bikes. But for us «hard core,» all-​weather, commuter riders, we would do well to find a small shop and leave it at that.

By far the friendliest bike shop I’ve ever set foot in. I’d had a few fairly ‘meh’ experiences at the old Bike Gallery out on far east Division (now closed)…they weren’t outright rude, but they definitely had a bit of that classic bike shop snobbery. And then every other bike shop I’ve ever been to has been rude and/​or intimidating.
Well, having recently moved to a new place, now the Woodstock BG is the nearest shop to me, and I have to say, I’m super impressed. I’ve gone in twice now; the first time to buy some accessories (helmet, bar tape). I was greeted immediately by a friendly sales person (Tyler maybe?). I told him my budget and he quickly guided me straight to perfect helmet for my gigantic head, on sale. The prices for the items I picked up were comparable to anywhere else – I pre checked on Amazon and a few other online bike shops before coming in. So, for the people who are saying that their accessories are a bit pricey, I’d have to disagree. A locally owned shop that is competing with Amazon’s prices is winning pretty hard, in my book.
My second trip in was just this weekend. My lovely husband tried to air up my tires a bit and both of the inner tubes exploded. OOPS. Decided it would be best to take it to the shop, rather than replace the tubes ourselves so that we could find out WHY they exploded when inflated to the PSI rating on the tire. The mechanic on duty was extremely helpful. He immediately knew what had happened, explained why it happened and how to prevent it in the future. He also suggested a hub adjustment and repacking my ball bearings, which at $ 12 I happily agreed to. It made a noticeable difference in my rolling resistance. He also talked to me about some future upgrades I was interested in for my old road bike, broke it down price-​wise, explained how I could piece meal it to spread the cost out a bit. Generally he just dropped a ton of knowledge in a really nice and approachable way as he fixed my bike. We shook hands at the end and he rang me up personally. I walked out feeling quite good about giving Woodstock BG my money.

Being a new biker in Portland, I can’t speak much in comparison to other bike shops around town. What I do know is that Bike Gallery Woodstock offers great customer service. Shawn, the Store Manager, was nothing but willing to help me find a good bike on a tight budget. Ken helped me find all the good deals on extras, and Kaia was super sweet and efficient when installing them. I would be stuck riding an uncomfortable, old bike if it weren’t for their knowledge and gratitude. I will definitely return when I need to buy more gear, and would recommend this shop.

One of the friendliest shops I’ve been too. I had been looking for a commuting/​light touring bike. After looking at many bikes and many shops, I had settled on a Kona that only the Bike Gallery Woodstock shop carried in my size. Matt got me all set up was super friendly and knowledgeable about the product. Everyone at the shop I talked to while my extras got added on were super nice. They were so nice they got everything added on before closing so i wouldn’t have to come all the way back since I live on the other side of town. I would recommend this shop to anyone.

Kaia is awesome! She was super patient and helpful in purchasing a cyclocross bike. She was upfront on pros and cons of their bikes and made lots of adjustments to the bike my wife purchased.
I would say that the managers are less than helpful, they let us wait to get help while Kaia was helping someone else. They also weren’t really very friendly and even gave Kaia bad information jumping into a conversation she was having with us. I don’t think they know their stuff as well as their staff. We probably wouldn’t have bought a bike at this place if not for Kaia. Kaia knows her stuff, is customer service oriented and wasn’t an annoying sales person. I am glad we bought a bike from HER but not specifically Bike Gallery.
I also think the prices are really steep at this place and if what we bought wasn’t on sale there is NO way we would have bought a bike at this place.

The bad news is my beloved 8-​year old bike was stolen. The good news is that Bike Gallery – specifically sales peep Kaia – are making choosing of /​shopping for a new bike pretty damn fun.
While I think a lot of people buy bikes based on colors and price, any self-​respecting PDX cyclist is looking for more. So I headed out with the mission of finding a bike for getting around town, comfortably with some speed and tight handling. From there, I figured I’d flounder around a bit and hope someone with a butt-​load of two-​wheel knowledge could fill me in on the latest technology, comparisons, etc. Thankfully, Kaia really knows her stuff. She explained things well, didn’t put on a hard sell, and even after 2.5 hours of fitting me for test rides, was totally cool with the fact that I wanted to mull it over a bit.
So, while I had intended to «shop around», I found my shop. Now I just gotta decide which bike to actually take home.. . Thanks Kaia! You rock!
Update: I got my new bike from Bike Gallery and then, two weeks to the day after I rode it home, I was hit by a car. (Seriously, I can’t make this shit up.) Took my new love back to Bike Gallery and they declared it totaled. Wrote me up an estimate, told me that the person who hit me could send a claims adjuster into the shop for more info, they’d take care of it all. James, the manager, was so helpful and understanding!
All ends well, the guy paid for a new one. I’m sore as hell but still standing.

I $*&^%@ love my bike.
I walked in to Bike Gallery after crashing my friends’ bike, in hopes of shopping around and becoming familiar with the bike world. I walked out several hours later with a shiny new bike, fresh bandages covering my wounded knee, and 200% more bike knowledge. One of BG’s employee’s, Jordan, really took time to help me find the right bike and answer my chabillion questions. No sales pressure or anything like that and no buyers remorse.
I %&^%# love my bike!
I have dropped in a few other times since purchasing my bike to get snazzy yellow fenders installed. They checked my bike out to make sure everything was safe and sound. BG also offers rides and free classes on Sundays, which is great for newbie riders like me.

5 full minutes in store. 5 employees working. Not a single acknowledgment that I was even in the store.
Walked into the store to buy TODAY. Not accessories, but a brand new bike. You even have the bike (s) I want. All you had to do was say «hello, can we help you?» and you’d have a sale.
Instead, I’ll try your competitors.
