Good Lord. Everything we ordered was so damn good. Every drink, appy totally on point. Smoked wings with warm blue cheese? Spicy Pork rinds still cracking when they get to your table? Yes please. 5 dollar punch of the day, ok. Will be back many times.

Really, really liked this place for grabbing a cocktail. Great atmosphere, and we certainly got our drink on something fierce.

Walking in here feels like walking into a medieval drinking hall. With heat. And deodorant. Ok perhaps I simply adore the open brick, the ostentatious drinking seats, the house old fashioned and the house manhattan. The setting is dim, the nibbles are excellent, and the place on SE Grand outstanding. It is a relaxing space for the after work crowd who can get a drink and exhale as an alternative to bang their head against a wall in existential disaster.

Service extreme slow! It’s a seat yourself type of place and its dimly lit. This part made me a little nervous. My friend and I were going to go to the Portland Night Market but the line was so long that we came here instead. We both got steak and let’s just say, you’re not going to be kissing anyone that night, but you won’t even mind. The steak is perfectly seasoned, potatoes perfectly salted, and the greens. Mmm! The waitress we had was extremely nice! My friend wanted to order the Rocky Mountain oysters and the waitress let us know what it was. Good thing she did, that wouldn’t have been a pleasant surprise. We were overcharged for our meal by $ 10 but the waitress was more than kind and apologetic for the mistake. They also have a nice looking fire pit that I will be sure to come back and check out. Don’t overlook this place! Just because there isn’t a line doesn’t mean it’s not good. I’m giving this place 3 stars because there was too many hiccups during my visit. It was pretty packed, but our meal took over an hour and that seems a tad too long. Otherwise I would even consider giving them 5 stars.

Absolutely incredible. Top notch staff, incredible food and unique cocktails. The bar itself is visually stunning. This is a Portland institution. You MUST visit.

We only had drinks here. I think it may be more trendy than good. If you are in the area and there is a table, stop in. Don’t make a trip just to go here.

Yaaaaas. Dope interior, dope drinks and I only had the fries but they were«dope» too. Their bar to wait staff ratio was weird when paying but we for over it. Screw dig a pony across the street, come here for a nice ambiance and good drinks.

Food was awesome, especially the fries. Was little to «hipster» for me, but the drinks looked good… Wish I had tried the punch. They open @ 3, so lunch is a no go.

The buttermilk biscuits and burger was amazing. I came during happy hour and prices were VERY reasonable. The staff was friendly and I appreciated the atmosphere.

Dropped in tonight for a drink and dinner. Place was busy and we were fortunate to get the last open table. G/f ordered a beer, I got the non-alcoholic«Temperance Tail(the» Bold and Adventurous variation)”. For our meal, we ordered the fried Bologna sandwich, beet salad, and an order of chicharones. Unfortunately, this meal was wholly underwhelming. My drink was anything but Bold or Adventurous, that’s for sure. In fact, it tasted like a glass of orange juice with a hint of vanilla — and at $ 6, it was an overpriced waste, especially considering that it came in a very small glass. The chicharones could easily have come out of a bag at Safeway, they were just plain blah — we didn’t even finish them. The fried Bologna was average, nothing to distinguish it from any other I’ve had and while the accompanying fries were tasty, several of them weren’t cooked. The beet salad was the best of the meal, adequate. The only thing to bump this from one star to two was our server. She was perky, attentive, and not intrusive. But for the $ 31 we spent for dinner, the meal was pretty much a waste. This was OregonLive’s 2015 «best new bar of the year»? Not in our eyes. Maybe the bar side is good but the food left us wanting.

Looks like the old East Bank without the green carpet. Service ignoringly slow and drinks excellent, but overpriced. Who charges $ 9 for a bed of 6 small wings on happy hour?!!

This place is pretty great. We had very low expectations, and were totally surprised. They did a great job with this place in terms of décor. The place is warm and cozy, and it seems like nothing was done on the cheap. They have a great whiskey list, and the cocktails(while kinda pricey) are solid. Food wise… Fish Board: Great Rocky Mountain Oysters: Great Rabbit Hand Pie: GREAT Butter Lettuce Salad: F&%king Terrible. It came out with no salt at all, no pepper at all, really no dressing at all. Watery lettuce with watery fennel and water radish topped with grated egg yoke. I think whoever made it for us just messed it up, rather than that being the actual dish designed by the chef, but that doesn’t make it any better. Shitty salad aside, go here. It’s cool(Or «great» as stated above about 20 times)

After coming here for so many months, I figured I’d put in my thoughts for Bit House. After moving to Portland recently, Bit House has been my one constant in this new city. For all the industry people out there, you know what I mean. To have a place where everyone knows who you are and what you drink, after a long shift at work. The team at Bit House are at the top of their game. They have a great selection of whiskey and scotch. I commend these guys for the great work that they do and for the way they treat their guests. I haven’t found another spot nearby that I return to as much as I do Bit House. And you will not go wrong on the food either. For those looking for a great place to spend some time with friends, make new friends, or to get great drinks and service, look no place else.

We used to frequent the joint 15+ years ago. Nice to be back in the renovated space and it still has dark old wood charm. Friendly staff and interesting menu to please a wide variety of folks. We went in on a particularly rainy Saturday so it reminded me of days gone by — we will be back. Also loved watching them hand paint the new mural on the south side of the building.

Stopped by on a Saturday night at 1:30am for a nightcap. It was pretty empty so we just sat at the bar. The drinks were good. $ 8 – 10 cocktails. A server brought us some chips, and we thought it was complimentary, but it was actually just a mistake. The bartender asked if we ordered it, and we told him no, we thought it was complimentary, and he said they were now. He handled that well!

Wow! I’m impressed by the remodel. Looks fantastic. Friday night, about 7pm, walk in to a packed house. Was unsure how the seating works(seat ourselves? Order at the bar? Table service?) so we grabbed the two seats at the bar. The buffalo burger was great, although I wasn’t a huge fan of the fries. Good music, good beers, lots of drink options, and a great bar. What really stood out was the staff. One of the bartenders took the time to let us take a look at a few of their top shelf whiskeys and tell us about them, which we really appreciated. Now, if only I was willing to pay for a bottle of Whistle Pig…

I’m a bit conflicted. One, they reserved the entire dining room for our wedding reception group — free of charge — which was awesome! Two, they charged $ 2 per slice(other restaurants charge a flat fee of $ 10-$ 15) to cut the wedding cake. The cake we brought was rather large, so that could end up being rather spendy. My friend said he was charged $ 35 or $ 40 but the restaurant manager said they have a cap of $ 24, so I am not sure what was actually charged. If you decide to bring a cake in, just be sure to get something in writing that there is a $ 24 cap. A few of us came early for happy hour. That menu is odd and ranges from $ 2 for chips and nuts to $ 9 for a bologna sandwich and fries, with only a few other items to choose from. However; the bologna sandwich was really good and the armadillo eggs are actually jalapeño poppers with a layer of bologna — which was also tasty. Warning; it’s a bit spicy, but I like spicy. The Moscow Mules were iced heavily, and I would have asked for them to go light on that, had I known. Alas, you get what you pay for and it was only $ 5(compared to the stiff, not pun intended price of their non-happy hour drinks). In the end, we all had a very good time and the bride and groom were very happy with our choice of venue. I especially liked the smell of cedar and the brick walls. I’ve never been to a speak easy, but with all the fancy whisky’s they served, I felt like this was as close as I was gonna get. I’d totally come back here again, to sit on the back patio and enjoy a drink in front of the fire pit. I’d just know now to ask that they go light on the ice.

Thank You for bringing this historic building back to life! East Bank Saloon was once a beloved hang out in the day. I am so happy for the new ownership and renovations at the Bit House Saloon. They offered Happy Hour all night on their Official Grand Opening. How generous! Should’ve stayed and called an UBER. My first cocktail — It was exquisite. It was called Vodka Peaches — a good balance of fruit, tartness, and booze. They offer a wide assortment of craft cocktails on tap, ready to go. Some classics and some one-of-a-kind recipes. My friend ordered the Moscow Mule — she liked it and the dimpled mug it was presented in. $ 5 for a pint of local or regional craft beer. They carry and rotate in some special Barrel Aged Beers. They also are one of a few bars that sell the High Life Ponies. 7 oz. beers for $ 1 — Ol’School. Tap wine, too. I’ve never seen a Prosecco on tap. Very Nice, subtly dry. Their food is diverse, something for everyone. I shared the Chicken Wings and the Armadillo Eggs appetizers. The wings had a good amount of meat and were coated with a generous sauce, a good kick. The Armadillo Eggs were a fun version of a Scotch Egg type concoction. Breaded with Pork and Jalapeño. One quirky thing, some of their cutlery is vintage. Their hospitality is stellar and they offer table service. This added feature will make them standout among some of the new bars and saloons that offer counter only or indifferent service. Outside you’ll find a patio and firepit. Bathroom has been beautifully renovated. Simple, low lit, and sleek. The sink is cool. Beware, the ladies is a one-holer, a potential wait, if busy. A shout out to frontman Jesse, who recruited talented and cordial staff. He’s created a unique drinking and dining experience for every person. All are Welcome. Brilliant Food, Drink, and Atmosphere in a updated but still classic space. 3pm everyday. No Minors. A variety of seating — bar, booths, tables. Check out the floor, all old, refurbished barrel staves. They have Pinball! No T.V.
