I’ve been dealing with Blumenthals for 8 years in a professional capacity and have always had great service. Even when mistakes are made, which is inevitable when you order as much as I do, they always correct the problem quickly. Staff is great, selection is decent and they are willing to special order just about anything. I highly recommend them.

I went in a few years back with my husband to buy boot blousers. The staff acknowledged my husband and ignored me until my husband told them I was the customer. Today I went back in to buy boots for a Veteran Honor Guard I am a member of. I waited and waited, then another customer came in. The staff person tried to help that customer first. He was a good guy though and explained I was there first. The staff person then took me to look at the boots and he asked if the boots were for me. Like who else would they be for. I left and then went back in and explained my irritation with him. He just smirked and said he didn’t see me. As a women Army veteran I get this a lot. Veterans only make up about 1% of the U.S. population and women, at the time I served, only about 10% of that — so only like 1⁄10 of 1% of the US population. There are not a lot of us, but we women veterans are here too and served our country too. I was in during the first Gulf war. The staff person said he just didn’t see me standing there. But that still doesn’t answer the question why wouldn’t he take the safer course and assume the boots were for me? They didn’t have what I needed and even if they did, I won’t shop there again. Took my business across town to Andy and Bax where they were great! They even carry a pretty decent selection of boots in Women’s size.

I have worked in the uniform business for ten years and I was in Portland on vacation and decided to pay Blumenthals a visit. I was just curious about how another shop worked or what they had so we took the bus across town. I walk in and no one says hi. Now I understand that I am not a cop, but I certainly don’t look like a crackhead… but no one acknowledged me nor said hi. I wandered about the store for a good 15 minutes and nary a hello. It seemed like they were waiting for me to leave. Nice store and nice layout though. Coming from a «bad» city, I wouldn’t leave my bulletproof vests out on the sales floor but they were nicely hung up and the 5.11 stuff was nicely laid out too.

Their customer service is awful. They tell you one thing and deliver another. Their selection is so-so. Could do better online, but it’s really the only game in town if you want to try stuff on. The people who work there have the personality of wet paste. BUT there was one shining light after many dim bulbs, and if I could I would give him 5 stars, but alas you can only rate overall. His name was JR and he saved the sale. Great personality, very helpful and understood the value of a smile and going the extra mile.

This place screws up constantly. Just about every order I have placed they have managed to somehow screw up. Unfortunately they are pretty much the only game in town. The staff is always friendly, with the exception of the owner(who really needs to work on his customer service skills), but they can’t seem to get an order right to save their asses. Also, they are more expensive than the competitors. I go out to the other uniform shop in Oregon City as much as I can to avoid giving blumnethals my more of money. My advice: Buy online or go to the other smaller, but more organized shop in Oregon City

I wish I could give ZERO stars! My first ballistic vest was custom fitted(as it should be). A couple months later it arrived at the agency. When I opened the box, it was straight up Madonna cones! I left for Firearms academy the next day, so had to make it work. When I returned, I was told that there was only a 30 days return window if it didn’t fit. I was then stuck with this vest for the next two years. In January, our agency moved to tactical vests. I went in, got fitted, and waited. And waited… and waited. Here we are in August and I STILL don’t have my vest. I have been fitted three times since the original fitting in January. Each time they tell me it will arrive in two more weeks. If my agency didn’t contract with them, I would never step foot in that place. Please encourage your agency to use someone else. Only go there if you MUST!

My agency contracts out to them, so I was sent out to have a couple uniforms fitted. It’s a basically a toy store for LEOs, so I really enjoyed it. The only issue is, it’s clear on the other side of town from my house. I had to come back a few times, to pick up name tags, rebadge my jacket, rebadge a second jacket, etc. The only issue I had with them, I had a Watershed jacket which is made of GoreTex material, I had to have to jacket redone in my agency’s badges/markings. Blumenthal’s said they’d be able to do it, they called me a week later saying they couldn’t, no problem. They said my options were to send it to Watershed and have them redo it, or have Blumenthal’s do it, not perfect but at least it’d be a quick turnaround. They quoted me around $ 30, I ended up paying $ 60 for Blumenthal’s to do it. But I guess it saved me 3 weeks wait, right? Overall, wide selection of stuff, prices are okay, but the customer service is great. Would definitely stop by in again if I was ever on that side of town.

Very expensive but they have some really nice stuff. Do your homework before purchasing something.
