Recommended by someone to do my son’s root canal and bleaching. Let the buyer Beware! The service was acceptable, but the pricing is way over what they quote and many dentists charge. (We’ve had the same exact procedure done numerous times by others that all charged within $ 50 to $ 100 of each other. Here’s how it worked for me. They will quote you a price upfront (Even after speaking to your insurance company) and say it could be more though.(leaving room to bump you up at end) How about 2x –3x over the quote! That’s what it ended up being. To put this in perspective, let’s say for example, you have someone estimate your car repair job for $ 400 and you go to pick up and they charge $ 1200… for the same exact service they were to perform and nothing else added to the service. Very shady business practice. My suggestion is to shop around before making a decision and get a GUARANTEED amount you will have to pay. We lost a lot of money, but learned a valuable lesson to pass on. Our dental insurance covered the correct amount, but because insurance companies are paying less to dentists on claims, the medical industry is getting more creative with how to make up that difference they collect. (They bill it under a different code as one example) The bottom line is the end result is YOU the consumer will pay more than before through what I believe is an unethical practice. Do your Research before having work performed or leaving a deposit!

In 2008, I had several root canals done and crowns placed so I thought I was done for a while. Last year, I was having trouble and decided to find a new dentist. My new dentist is amazing and during his exam he found that three of the teeth had infected roots. He referred me to Dr. Strand. Dr. Strand confirmed that yes I had infected roots and probably roots that had not originally been filled. He did a ct scan which clearing showed the issues. It has taken me six months to get the money to afford the three procedures, but today I finally began.
Dr. strand not only found a 4^th root that had never been treated so it died and got infected, but he also discovered that the filling used by my previous dentist, was crap.
Seeing an endo is expensive, but so very worth it. First of all, Dr. strand does this all day and it’s his specialty. He has the best tools and equipment as well as the experience to do the job right. He numbed me so well that I could talk and eat and not drool all over myself. I have have been numbed before to the point of not feeling my face for most of the day. Not at all the case. He is extremely focused and methodical. He’s not a talker or very animated, but who cares! His staff is very professional. I have several more visits to fix things, but I am so happy to have Dr. Strand on my side.

Dr. Strand has a comforting office with pleasant, incredibly helpful staff. I recently had a root canal done on one of my front teeth, which made me quite nervous. However, Dr. Strand explained everything carefully and made sure that all of my questions were answered. I did have one repeat visit to refresh the bleaching agent but it was very fast and didn’t even require being numbed beforehand.
The work he did is amazing – the color matching that he did impressed my dentist quite a bit and it’s been a very positive change. Root canals have a reputation for being terrifying, but thanks to Dr. Strand and his team, it doesn’t have to be.

So my general dentist who I have had for years referred me to a local endodontist because I had a root canal situation. He did half of the root canal and told me to come back in a month so he could finish it. At first I felt much better, but then the pain began again two weeks later. I came back, he gave me RX for 800mg Advil and that was it. I went back again when the pain was suicidal. I asked, could I possibly have an infection and need an antibiotic? He said no. He then went on to tell me that my tooth would now have to be pulled and that I have 4 more root canals! Those weren’t teeth that hurt either.
My general dentists office had no referrals for me and the receptionist was very put off that I wasn’t sticking with who they sent me to. So in my excrutiating pain, I randomly chose an endo and just went. Enter Dr. Strand, I was knock knock knocking on deaths door at this point. At first he didn’t want to step on the other endo’s toes but I literally begged him and he took my case. Turned out I DID have an infection. He put me on antibiotics. He not only saved my tooth, but told me I had NO other root canals! It was a looong process but I was finally done, well, now I had to get a crown at my regular dentist, so more money, time and energy. Root canals are the worst!

DENTIST #1, super friendly, a comedian… but couldn’t fix my tooth, didn’t get me out of pain, and wanted to charge for many more non existent root canals. So he can’t fix one root canal, but wants to try more??? Their each like a couple grand!
Oh, and while his dog was super cute, I was scared as hell so I didn’t need the distraction of his huge dog licking my toes through my thong sandals (is that what their called?) while I was under the drill lol. He joked a lot. He said his dogs love was unconditional unlike his wifes. Yeah, maybe because his dog gives so much less than his wife so his expectations are lower lol. When is the last time his dog cooked him a meal? complimented him? took him out? Bought him something nice? hmmmm?
DENTIST #2 not unfriendly, but much more reserved… correctly diagnosed me, got rid of my pain, fixed my tooth, didn’t make me go through more root canals I didn’t have, didn’t charge me for imaginary root canals.
If you need a decent comedian, #1. if you need an excellent endo #2.
I’m gonna go with #2 next time and completely skip over #1! But lets hope there is no next time!
