As a designer, and someone who isn’t a professional painter, this shop is far away the best in all of Portland for tips, tricks, classes and ideas regarding your current or future paint job. Plus, Adrienne, the owner, is a total babe, so that doesn’t hurt things, either. I’m a big fan of Farrow and Ball paint, and she’s one of the only(the only?) official carriers in the city, and if you’re a fan of cement countertops but don’t have 3k to spend, let her show you a product called Skim Stone: I did my kitchen counters and backsplash for $ 400. All in all, between the classes, the depth of products and Adrienne’s hotness, this is a 5-star paint store of the highest caliber. Paint on!

I am an interior designer and I love the resources at Brush and Trowel for my clients. There are so many possibilities. Have you ever seen a picture in a magazine or a site like and the wall finish was truly amazing? If you take that image to Brush and Trowel they will show you how to create the look. And if you don’t want to do it yourself they can recommend an applicator. They have many amazing products for countertops, flooring and shower material too. For example, did you know you can apply a product called Skimstone over laminate countertops and the finished product looks like solid concrete? This can also be used on shower and regular floors too. It is a fraction of the cost of other solid surface materials and of tile installations! And it can be blended to match anything. This is a great resource for homeowners. This is the place all the muralist, venetian plaster applicators and such get their materials. They work with both the public and the trade. Stop in! Have fun! Roll up your sleeves!(or ask for a referral for someone else to do it for you!)
