Buckman is close, open early, affordable, has hot showers and has been a source of friendship as a southeast(Brooklyn hood) resident. Mt. Scott and Dishman are too far. Please don’t close this gem. Raise the rates if you need to but DON’T CLOSEIT!!!

Clean, cheap, open early. All I need. I don’t have a gym membership anymore, and this place does the job when I want to scratch the swimming itch. Schedule’s a little wonky so check online before you go. Locker room’s are basic but functional, shower comes up to my shoulders at 5’8″, but they work and aren’t freezing.

2010: I was so excited to have a pool so close to home where I could pass the summer days in cool, watery comfort. Sadly, we found the water to be quite murky. We couldn’t see 2 feet into it. We haven’t had the courage to go in since. Please let me know if your experience was different from mine and I’d be willing to give it another chance.

Little pool in the basement of Buckman elementary school. Kind of gloomy, water is warm but the changing rooms(in Winter) are freezing. Very small window of time for free swim. Saturday is gender-segregated free swim, which is fine but seems to take up all the large blocks of time that would be available for mixed free swim. Still, the lifeguards are nice, the location is prime, it’s mellow enough that you can just leave your stuff on the bench poolside.
