The Cameo Hotel was very helpful to me when I was forced to temporarily find a new place to live on short notice. My apartment building had decided to vacate a lot of its tenants in order to charge new ones higher rents — a growing trend as a result of gentrification in Portland. Long story short, I stayed at the Cameo for a while and they offered me a reasonable weekly rate. I can say the Cameo is a great place to stay. It’s ten minutes away from the airport, rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious, housekeeping is done every week and the staff is very responsive to any concerns or needs you may have. They also have full cable and wifi as well. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but not really unsafe and there are lot of fast food and other restaurant options close by on 82nd Ave and Sandy Blvd.(Pizza Hut is across the street, for example. Not to mention the number of Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in the area.) If you’re traveling on a budget and looking for someplace inexpensive near the airport, and you don’t necessarily require more than the basic amenities, the Cameo would be a great choice. P. S. Tony and Jennifer are the managers there. Super cool individuals. :-)

I feel really terrible writing a bad review but I want to give fair warning of what you may encounter upon coming here. The hotel is in a super shady place(comparable to a red light district) and had a bunch of street commotion and people walking around that made you want to hold your purse closer to your body. We got there and though the front desk guy was nice, there was still the«unsettling» feeling about that place. The room stank, the sheets were damp and we were honestly too grossed out to sleep under the covers. We changed our reservation from two nights to one, and even that much because it was already pretty late to look for a different hotel. Visitors be warned. =\

This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. My husband, myself, and 3 of our friends had 2 rooms and stayed 2 nights there last weekend. Both rooms smelled like a men’s public restroom and they were the filthiest any of us had ever seen. Our pillows were stained and they were covered in other people’s hair. The towel rack in the bathroom was falling off the wall and there was a hole in our wall next to the entrance. This motel is also surrounded by several 24 hour strip«clubs», which were small houses. The price was very affordable but we expected our room to at least be clean.

I booked this hotel from the Unilocal reviews alone which were very misleading. We stayed in the annex across the street so perhaps that had something to do with it. The annex has not been updated in a long while. The floor was not vaccumed, the furniture(nightstand) was broken with protruding screws, one of the bed side lamps did not work, there is no light switch to turn on lights. It was definitely a keep your shoes on sort of motel. The king bed was comfortable which made our one night stay tolerable. Otherwise, I feel like it felt seedy and not worth the $ 75 cost.

This place has been awesome! My family and I got to Portland this morning at 10 a. m not knowing where to get a room. Everywhere we called had check in at 2! We called this place and they were willing to take us in early. When we got here, they were only charging $ 75 for two beds. They ended up giving us a room with three beds for $ 80 without a deposit. The room is pretty spacious and it’s in a good area. I’ve enjoyed the service and would be back!

I found the Cameo Motel on a app. I was looking for something close to the airport and relatively cheap. When I pulled up, it was dark, and the place looked a bit creepy. There were quite a few people sitting outside. The numbers next to the doors were written in marker. The desk clerk told me that I may have to power in the tv physically on the TV to channel 3 before I could use the remote. The door stuck when I tried to open it, but I was taken aback when I opened the door. The room was totally different from what I expected. Everything was very clean and new. The colors(red and gold) were nice and updated. The room came with a large mini fridge(unfortunately I had no use for it for one night). The bathroom showed the motel’s age with blue tile– NO outlets(really?) — but it was all clean. I got this hotel for $ 58(after taxes) — couldn’t have gotten a better deal.
