If you have 30 minutes to buy a piece of cheese go here. This place is so slow. If there’s someone in front of you, assume you’ll be there for 40 min. Better to go to new seasons and save money and time

Fun small plates but real strength is cheese and wine, as I hope wouldn’t surprise you. By no means a budget stop but a great date night or place to enjoy with a small group of friends. Drink wine, have a DD

Wow!!! What a great place. Definitely a must stop. Had the Buddy-up; two selected meats and cheeses. A really helpful and friendly staff. A solid beer selection too. Beer + cheese = heaven! Coming back.

My husband researched this place and really wanted to go so he randomly took me on a Sunday. It was so good! We got cheese to take home and we also ate in-house. I got the ham and grilled cheese with a cup of tomato soup(delicious– best tomato soup I’ve ever had!) and he got the mac n cheese, which came with a small side salad. First of all, the salad was delicious– perfectly balanced, just the right amount of dressing, very refreshing and light. Then I tried his mac n cheese and OHMYGOODNESS. It is the best mac n cheese I have ever had in my life. And if that wasn’t enough. We had dessert. We decided to have the cheesecake. What looked like a normal cheesecake turned out to be the best cheesecake either of us have ever had. I hadn’t initially read the the menu for dessert and when our server asked us if we wanted any, I remembered there was a cheesecake and knew that I wanted it, regardless of what it was. It turned out to have a sort of orange creamsicle flavor. It was so good that I took my fork and made a cut right down the middle(we were sharing it) and told my husband that if he took one single bite form my side, he would be sorry. We scraped the ramekin clean. It was truly a work of art. It was not only delicious but extremely well done and beautiful. The best tomato soup, mac n cheese, and cheesecake that either of us has ever had? That ought to say something about this place! We will be back. Probably at least once a month. I can’t wait to eat here again. Now I’m thinking about the cheesecake again…

The best way to my heart isn’t with diamonds but through a block of cheese. Gareth surprised me by taking me to a cheese sitting and tasting. The tasting experience was really $$ at $ 11 per person for approx under 3 oz of cheese or less but worth it for the social factor. My mood was slightly ruined in the beginning cause Gareth was too tired, stressed from driving and was generally grumpy that I felt bad for our host whom made so much effort in explaining the types of cheese and the flavour notes. We could both tell that he was on a different planet. Myself I was really into it. I am one of those annoying foodies that needs to take a picture of everything. I can tell that it was getting on Gareth’s nerves. He was a bit grumpy and I wasn’t in the mood to call him out on it, therefore, left him alone to sort himself out and instead talked with the staff about record shops. I am not one of those girls who tries to change someone. If someone genuinely wants to hang than they’ll smarten up on the grumpy otherwise I just immediately move on and talk to someone else. Life is too short and every second counts. In all fairness the lady at the til was super awesome and helpful and awesome and even helped me select some take home cheese. Thankfully the mood lightened up before dessert and a few toasts before then. The selection of presented cheeses was amazing on our board but the star of the show goes to their amazing cheesecake made with Gina Marie Cream Cheese from Sierra NV. I’ve had a lot of cheesecake in my time and this is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Even Gareth admitted that it was the best that he’s ever had. I had a foodgasm. I had to draw a line in the cake cause if there was no line drawn I would’ve eaten more than my fair share. Overall I am happy that Gareth found this place and we ended up having a good time even though we got off on a bumpy start.

My bf is a cheese monster, but lets be honest so am I. While researching places to eat and check out in PDX, I figured since — Tillamook cheese was made in Oregon, they probably produced some other delicious local cheeses. Up comes — CHEESEBAR. After hiking tunnel falls, we were tired, hot, and hangry but determined to go to the Cheese Bar. A quaint place with some outside seating and seating for about 25 people inside and a case of full of cheese. YUM We wanted to try some local cheeses so the guy gave us a ton of samples, we didn’t really have to ask. If anything we had to tell him to stop :) I really liked the Hannah cheese and my bf was so hungry he got a cheese plate to go which had a wide array of cheeses from Spain. I would love to come back and try their infamous mac n cheese or buy some more cheese to make sandwiches with!

Where’s the«Happiest place on earth»? Not Disney Land. For me, it’s anywhere that I can find gourmet cheese and vino. I’ve passed this place a few times and really wanted to stop, but tonight was free tasting night(every Thursday?) so we had no excuse not to swing by. This evening we got to try a white, a rose and a red zinfandel. All were fantastic and even better with cheese bites. We’d already eaten dinner, but I can tell you that it was very, very hard to say no to the mac and cheese on the menu. That had«Get in my belly!» written all over it! Next time… Free street parking and outdoor seating in front and back. What more can you ask for in a darling neighborhood gem? If you ever have a hankering for anything cheese related, you must swing by and try this place out.

What a find! Not from the area but fly into PDX now and then for family in OR. This will now be a required stop either coming or going(or both). I love charcuterie, but find places in SoCal less than stellar, I stopped by Cheese Bar after searching online. Had flight to catch, so got a Buddy-Up Board — 2 meats and 2 cheese chosen by the monger. He picked out some great stuff and made a nice to-go box. Was in heaven while I was waiting for flight to board. Cannot wait to come back and carve enough time to eat on premise with a beer or two.

Hello, Belmont! I wanted an after work glass of wine and we found this place near where we were going to dinner so, yeah. That’s the background. Twinkle lights. A huge deli cheese case. A whole wall of wine/beer/champagne. Chocolate(fancy chocolate, like ALMA) at the register… minus one for the parking situation over there. We ordered the chef’s choice cheese block(three cheeses and chutney with crackers) and a baguette, I had the red wine on feature and my partner had a beer. The cheeses were nice and chosen well(we didn’t hate any, just preferred one over the others) but the portions were small. I don’t remember if it was $ 11? $ 12? The chutney was a tiny cup, like 2 tbsp and the crackers numbered around 10? I thought it was a small portion even for a small plate, hard to share with two. But we were planning to do dinner later so it wasn’t a huge deal. My wine was nice. The baguette came in handy after those crackers ran out. The baguette was crispy/crusty on the outside and doughy/chewy on the inside so a nice contrast to the crackers. I’d go back! I don’t know much about cheese or wine and this shop makes both feel accessible without a huge price tag. Plus you won’t be stuck with a bunch of cheese you don’t want, with these portion sizes.

The atmosphere, the variety of cheeses, the beers, the knowledge of the staff… Everything was on point here. I was really pleased with the monger working behind the counter who was funny and willingly let us sample some of the cheeses and answered all of our weird curious questions about the process and difference between certain types and didn’t make us feel stupid for being interested in how it all goes down. SCIENCE. The price was great for our amount of meat and cheese, the pickled vegetables(cauliflower, peppers, aaaand… something else) were excellent and mixed well in flavor with the cheeses and meat. My boyfriend raved over the Hercule De Charlevoix cheese from Quebec. It was so so rich in flavor and had a great texture. I would say to at least try it! He is completely opposite on the cheese scale than I am — I prefer sharp and hard cheese, and he likes super soft and mild cheese, and this one wow’ed is both. Even looked it up online to buy after our visit.

Cute place. Smaller cheese selection than similar places I’ve experienced. But hey, sometimes less is more! I found the staff helpful and friendly. Will be back for a cheese board… and wine(or maybe a beer)!

It was a hot summer day when my husband and I retreated to the pleasure of a cheeseboard and glass of wine. This place had a bit of an arrogant ambience but they pulled it off exactly right. I shared the buddy board with two types of cheese to meet and two small pickled dishes. The Pinot Grigio complemented that cheese very well. Perfect choice and good experience.

How exciting can a cheese shop review be? Well, it is cheese! Cheese Bar is exciting. It has amazing local – even rare – barrel aged beer and wine from Pelican and Upright. They have awesome local charcuterie from Olympic Provisions. Of course they have incredible cheeses, variety and quality. They know their shit here. What elevated Cheese Bar from«excellent» to «exciting” – think DiBruno’s and Claudio’s in Philly, Cheesetique in DC. – is the service. We were tourists and didn’t know the local scene. They helped us by puling out 1, what?, no 2, what?, no 3, what?, no 4, what?, no 5, what?, no 6, what?, no 7. count ‘em, 7, different cheeses. These cheeses ranged from $ 15/lb to $ 47/lb. Yep, we got to try that expensive one. They arranged the slices neatly in front of each of us. They even placed the samples in order as if at a tasting, starting lighter and more delicate and progressing towards the palate-fatigue-ing blue at the very end. We purchased cheese and brought it back by 4-hour flight. They gave us an ice pack to ensure it arrived safely. A week later and we’re enjoying the cheese as we remember it back out west. EX-CITING!

This place is awesome! Amazing cheese… great selections! We had the stinky board, truffle Mac and my friend had the meat board. We ended up ordering another 1⁄5 of a pound and got to try a bunch before deciding. The wine selection by the bottle was great. Awesome service, extremely helpful, informative and attentive. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area!!!

A cute little shop, lots of selection, nice people, relaxing atmosphere, good wine, good times! Cheese board & meat board — 4 stars cheese pic: meat pic: We got the monger’s choice for both boards and loved/devoured everything. * 2009 Domaine de Fontsainte, Carignan/Grenache/Mourvedre, Corbiereses, FR. $ 8 — 4 stars Normally not much of a red wine fan but I asked for something on the sweeter side. This was nice, pretty full-flavored but not dry or too intense, and best of all as happens with pairings, tasted even better with the cheese & meat plates.
