I am shocked by all the poor reviews! We tried take out here last night, so I can’t speak to the service, but the food was really good. Had the walnut prawns(cooked just right, sauce delicately flavored), vegetable lo mein(which they added water chestnuts to upon request), and the crab rangoons. Everything was delicious, just flavorful enough, and expertly prepared. Absolutely I would recommend to a friend, and I will definitely be returning.

Looks like someone has a problem with Chen’s and it appears to be very personal to her. I received a private message via Unilocal… In so many unkind words, she accused me for being the owner or the server here(Dang, I wish). I looked at her review, it was from earlier this year, she was unhappy with the food… Totally fair, I gave many 1 star rate to quite a few restaurants. But I was curious of why would she had to make such a fuss —– especially, when I just wrote Chen’s review last month! Which means, she has been watching this restaurant(maybe you need to keep yourself busy with something else?). I think it’s too personal and she should recuse herself from this matter and Unilocal… I also looked at all her reviews, looks as though, she really just like to give 1 star. :(I did more research and looked at Chen’s FB page just to see if she wrote something there but only found out that Chen’s did fundraising, and worked to help preschool. Wow… Nope, I’m too legit and if I was the owner/server at Chen’s I wouldn’t have waited like 5 years as an Unilocal Elite, checked-in at most places, and posted 9185 local pictures just to review Chen’s Dynasty last month. :) The funny thing is… she doesn’t have any friends on Unilocal,0 Friends 13 Reviews 0 Photos and she never checked-in any where. I hmmmmmmmmmmmmm lol

There should be a law that requires all Chinese restaurants to deliver! Thank god this one does… Good food at a decent price and you don’t have to leave home to get it!!! Thanks, Chen’s!!!

As other Unilocalers mentioned in their reviews, avoid this place if you can. I’m currently still here at the restaurant waiting for the food we ordered to arrive. We were the only ones seated in the dining area for a bit. We put in our order 45 minutes ago and still nothing. We ordered a simple order of fried rice and wonton noodle soup. I don’t own a Chinese restaurant, but I am Chinese and I know that if it takes more than 20 minutes for any order, something’s not right. Even the 2 egg rolls we ordered took 30 minutes to arrive. The two tables that came AFTER we ordered even got their meals before us. What?! How?! Where’s the logic in that happening? We weren’t provided with any notice of when we’d get our food… such a disappointment. Just go somewhere else. We’re leaving now. Unprofessional and we’ve been patient enough.

Great clean food– not over-sauced and cheap. As an East Coaster I appreciate the quality and lack of sugar/MSG/Fried flavors. The steamed chicken dumplings were delicious. The shrimp in snow dish was really good and a huge portion!

Tonight we ordered delivery through delivered dish and I was not pleased. The vegetarian spring rolls were the worst I have ever had. The broccoli with bean curd was good but the rice dishes were dry. I will not be ordering from them again. Super disappointing.

Chen’s, putting the nasty back in dyNASTY. It’s well known that I am picky when it comes to Chinese and places like this are the reason why. Fortunately, I there are always standbys that just about every place can manage to get right. Fried Rice, Noodles and Wonton Soup. Nope, not here. The noodles were awful and less than 45% noodle. The fried rice was so-so but infinitely better than the noodles and that’s why it managed to get two stars. But on the bright side, it’s got a full bar full of degenerates. Go to Franks or Shandong trust me.

Don’t get all the negative reviews. Seeing a certain level of food snobbery here. It’s not epic good, but it is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Portland. Biggest complaint seems to be blandness. Hey, this is Americanized pseudo-Chinese food, prepared for the unadventurous gwei lo. You can always ask them to spice it up.

If there is a worse restaurant in Portland, please let me know. I give it one star, only because that’s the lowest option I had. Price was fine, but a dirty, no heat, excuse for a restaurant. Parking is fine.

HOLD that fork! I recently ordered the Scallops in Snow. This was undoubtedly the most heinous thing I have ever put in my mouth. Picture this when I got it home: In a tin foil pie plate was a glutenous mass of whipped, semi-cooked egg whites and mixed in were the oldest, foulest tasting scallops that had turned a week before. ITWASGROSS! Little gobs of other unrecognizable vegetables. I didn’t want anyone putting this disgusting crap in their mouth. I refused to even give it to my dog. The other dish also went in the disposal. All the drunken gamblers traipsing in and out was a pleasure: this is the real crowd they cater to.

While visiting Portland and looking for an alternative to our hotel’s typically over priced room service, take away Chinese seemed perfect! We ordered the spare ribs, sesame noodles, and green beans with oyster sauce. Spare ribs were tough, chewy and flavorless. Green beans were over cooked and shriveled and drowned in a bland and watery sauce. Sesame noodles… ugh. A bowl of well cooked noodles and some fresh veggies that tasted of a sugary Jif and Fluff sandwich. Not a hint of sesame. Overall a total lack of respect for ingredients and technique which rendered inedible dishes. Delivery was prompt and phone customer service was pleasant so

Absolute disappointment. The prices are great but everything else falls dramatically short. We stopped in here on a early Wednesday afternoon and there was only one other customer. They didn’t have wonton soup, the egg rolls were dripping grease, and the entrees we ordered had a slight floor cleaning taste to them. After one bite we notified the waitress who stated that since the manager wasn’t in the entrees would still need to be paid for. We insisted that only our drinks, and egg rolls would be paid for. After going back and forth with the waitress she finally succumbed and took off the entrée. Holy shit, what a shitshow. Never going back.

Just got into Portland from San Francisco, first time ever being in this city. It was pretty late at night and extremely foggy by the time we got to our hotel, couldn’t figure out what was where so opened up grubhub and Chen’s Dynasty was one of the only places delivering. We were starving and ordered the dynasty fried rice, honey glazed bbq pork, fragrant peking dumplings, szechuan sesame chicken, beef with orange flavor, and honey walnut prawns. The fried rice was really good, was full of flavor and had tons of meat. The bbq pork is really tasty and succulent. The dumplings weren’t that special, they were just okay. The orange beef was actually pretty mediocre at best, honestly wish I never ordered it. The beef is definitely not worth it. The saving graces however were the sesame chicken, honey walnut prawns, and the service. The sesame chicken was fantastic and full of flavour, sweet but not too sweet. The honey walnut prawns were absolutely delish. Our driver brought us a bunch of paper plates and plastic utensils and napkins, so cleanup was super easy. Also gave us a bunch of white rice for free, one per entrée ordered. Delivery was great and it was a nice first meal in Portland after a tiring journey. Stick to dishes that sound familiar that you normally like elsewhere and you should be fine.

Ordered take-out last night. I got hot and sour soup, pan fried dumplings, and general tsao chicken. The hot and sour soup was so bland! Just one spoonful was enough for me. The dumplings also needed flavor, and were heavy on the dough. The chicken, too, was bland. Just all around needed a pick-me-up. I’ll try elsewhere.

We ordered beef and chicken dishes and to be quite frank, we are not entirely sure we got beef and chicken. In fact, the«orange chicken» was more like«orange surprise»… And the beef with broccoli had a mealy texture that also left a weird, unpleasant film in your mouth. Never a good experience when eating! And, as stated in their menu, each entrée comes with a side of white rice… Upon arrival, we had 2 entrees, 1 rice, which completely threw our protein to starch ratio off! Other than being speedy with delivery, there is nothing we would recommend.

There’s not many Chinese restaurants that can do a good Kung Pao Chicken. It is an elemental dish. It is in a new place right next to the Safeway. The furnishings are Spartan, elegant, and spacious. The person on the counter was very quick with her service. I went there for the lunch meal. It is a good meal. There is an option of soup which is nice to have. I had the won ton soup — which is the first variant I ate without noodles in it. But this variant is cut by the very quick service with the kung pao chicken right there along with the noodles. The waitress came by, asked if it was my lunch, and focused on other customers. It is a type of place where the food is good — the service fast and excellent — and I was rather astonished that only the tea came at a slower pace.

I think this is quite average Chinese food ever. I got the spare ribs and the minced pork dumplings then we shared the Szechuan chicken and the crispy beef, they were all very greasy with a excess of oil, and there was this flavor of fried oil, used over and over, this heavy after taste. The beef was not fresh either. Their service was poor, it took long to be served. We were a bit disappointed, they could improve the taste of the food here and also the way they cook it, The only thing that was not bad, was that there is a large variety of and the menu is very rich, quite a lot of stuff.

I got this food delivered through Delivered Dish, so I can’t really speak to service of any kind. The food, though? That I can talk about. First, I was excited that they had onion pancakes. This is one of my favorite Chinese appetizers, and they are hard to find. They weren’t bad, precisely, but they were delivered without any of the sauce they are usually served with. I also ordered kung pao chicken and general tso’s chicken, both specifically ordered as hot. Not only were they not hot, they had barely any flavor at all. I will not order from here again, I can’t see why I would want to.

This place used to be so-so but the new owners have made improvements. The décor is not great(there are no windows in the entire place)-but the food is better than the atmosphere would lead you to believe. There’s a wide selection of both familiar and less familiar dishes. The Szechuan sesame sliced prawns, eggplant with tangy sauce, and dynasty crispy beef(with broccoli) are standouts. These guys are capable of doing the American Chinese stuff like general tso but can actually make the real stuff such as Peking duck or whole rock fish. Good bar menu food deals, though the bar itself is little more than a lotto cave. Very warm service and better-than-average food make this place a somewhat undiscovered gem.

Uh… mediocre at best. If you just gotta have some Chinese food. But don’t expect to find anything great. I got the hot and sour soup and the dynasty lo mein. The hot and sour soup was bland and maybe it was because it was the end of the night and didn’t want to whip up no more. Nevertheless it had no flavor… like it was missing rice vinegar and a little soy. The dynasty lo mein was even blander it seemed like they cooked it with no lo mein sauce. To make this more desirable I would suggest adding some oyster sauce and sweet soy sauce. They need to rename it Dy-NASTY lo mein… because if you due from eating this you gone have a nasty taste in your mouth. LOL But basically this sucked… not so good Chinese food.
