No stars; every time we come here to shop the place is closed. Why post hours on Unilocal if you do not go by them? Today, the place looks like a storeroom for Tasty & Sons… don’t waste your time coming here; odds are you will be disappointed as we have been.

No clue about the quality of product sold here as I was not served any. In fact, I was unable to even enter the premises at 4:30pm when the«we’ll be back» sign stated they’d return at 4:15. After wandering the halls and outside the building of «The Hub» I finally asked a waiter at Tasty n Sons(great place!) next door how I could get a Chop sandwich. He informed me they hadn’t been serving sandwiches to the public since January! He also says he gets asked about this almost daily and wishes that the proprietor of Chop would put up a sign informing potential customers that this Chop location is ONLY for production now. I was told there is a location in NW that sells product, but based on this utterly confusing experience I would never frequent a Chop establishment.

Dang. I can only comment on the fact that they have duck prosciutto. Because that’s what I eat every time I come here. There’s sandwiches, sausages and other charcuterie… but…duck prosciutto: isn’t that enough? Thin slices of cured, rich duck with the beautiful ring of fat on the outside. I eat it straight from the wax paper like I’m Andrew Zimmern. Oh. And they have foie gras. Struggling here… must write more… duck…prosciutto…so hard to find in a butcher… I give up; just come here for duck prosciutto. Shortest review ever; sorry.

could’ve been the highlight of my gastronomical adventures of that weekend in portland. These sandwiches are just simple, great quality ingredients and a little love, resulting in a mouthful of pristine deli sandwichness! Thank you. I will return.

I haven’t gone to Chop for anything besides the sandwiches, but I can’t wait to go back just for that! Wow, what a great sandwich… and that is a tough thing to make interesting. The meats are fresh and tasty and they add the perfect mix of cheese and accompaniments. Even the bread is a star of the sandwich versus just a helpful means of conveying the meat and cheese to your mouth. You might have to wander for a while to find this hidden gem tucked behind Tasty and Son’s, but it is worth the hike.

LOVE this place. Food, sandwiches and meat all. Best Italian sub in town.

Great Butcher-esque shop located behind Tasty n Sons in the Hub Building on Williams. Delicious sandwiches made fresh and in a jiff. You really don’t have to sacrifice taste when it comes to a quick sandwich lunch– there’s something for all meat-lovers on the menu.

Chop is a total sausage fest… in a good way. Just gazing in to their treasure chest is like an idyllic game of find the salami. In short, I like their meat in my mouth. I’ve had Chop Charcuterie meats many, many times, but never from their actual location on Williams. I’ve sampled various incredible salumi from Steve’s Cheese, various restaurants, picnics, dinners, etc. And finally stopped in for a lunchtime sandwich. I won’t hesitate to say that the meats these folks cure are fan-freaking-tastic. Whether it’s in salami form or simply cured meat, everything I’ve sampled has been top notch. Even the off-center stuff like curry salami. The sandwich I had here, on the other hand, was just okay. Primarily due to the odd bread they use to make the sammich. It had a sort of burnt, dry consistency. Artisan bread, I’ll give you that, but I disliked it enough to discard the bread and eat the tasty italian meats and roasted peppers contained within. The folks working here are friendly, and the meat in the case is so gorgeous that they should install a drool collector at the bottom. I’m stoked to come back in here and buy meats to take home and eat/cook. I doubt I can go too long in between bouts with this fine fleshmonger.

So-so sandwiches that have been sitting around and don’t do their meats or the price justice. Ergo… An equally lackluster review.

Been here twice now and they have awesome sandwiches! The quality of everything here is top notch, bread, meat and cheese. This time we also picked up some lunch meats for later. They also have some really great looking dinner meats just worried if we buy it we’ll be spoiled and not want to buy anywhere else. I have a feeling we will be back often. Tip: no seating here but down the hall is a picnic table that is still inside for these cold wet days. There are also tables outside the front of the building for nice weather.

while waiting for your table at tasty n son’s, you can check in the back at this charcuterie for some gourmet stuff — housemade meats, salamis, etc. had the fez sandwich(half) with rare roast beef, havarti and house pickled onions — was good but my only preference would be warm sandwiches.

Tucked away behind all the hype of Tasty ‘n Sons is this great sandwich and charcuterie shop! The staff is pleasant and helpful, happy to take orders over the phone if you’re on the go, and the food I’ve tried there is delicious and fairly priced. Go check it out!

I tend to eat here once a week and so should you! Farmhouse Pâté. There’s is the best and I especially love it in «the frog» sandwich. .The ham is also delightful, with its subtle smokiness. They always have samples out and I tried their curry sausage the other day and nearly fell on the floor. It was that good!

Oh my bacon!!! I am not a huge bacon fan, but when I do buy some of this little piggy, I head to Chop for their bacon! It’s not fatty, and they will cut it any thickness you like. Their selection of meats is high end, but without the high prices. The salami is also great with cheese and wine… I only wish they were not so far away!

Great little place located behind Tasty n Sons. The service is friendly and fast. I have tried two sandwiches from them and I can’t complain about either. Everything was fresh and well prepared. It’s a great place to pick up stuff for cooking at home or for just grabbing a sandwich to eat for lunch.

Ordered the«Train» sandwich, thinking it had something to do with the Urban Dictionary definition. I was wrong about that, but what I got instead was a perfect travel sandwich for my flight home to Texas. Lovely baguette, ham, brie, some tasty cornichons, and a bit of delicious mustard. Fights broke out on the plane once other passengers saw the gastronomic win which I brought on the 767 which they, due to poor travel planning and sloppy organizational skills, failed to think of. In my largesse, and to score a first class seat, I shared one half with the hot stewardess before renewing my mile-high club punch card. Unfortunately it was with a smelly Nigerian businessman whom I didn’t see tucked into the recesses of the restroom as I folded the door closed. Regardless, the sandwich was sublime, as was the exquisitely beautiful meat counter with all it’s epicurean amusements.

I tried this place out as I work fairly close and am always looking for a new place to eat. I chose to basically create a Club sandwich and it ended up being one of the best I’ve had. Everything is fresh, the meat is incredible and the bread was really good. My only gripe would be the price, it’s a tad expensive at $ 8 for a sandwich. I do find that fairly typical at all the good places though.

I’ve only been twice, but it’s been fantastic each time, and I’ll surely be back. It’s a tiny spot(no seating inside), but they’ve already packed a number of tasty things into their case. The highlights for me are the sandwiches, with half and whole sandwiches available. Everything tasted fresh and fabulous and they were carefully assembled — it was the perfect balance — plenty of fillings in the sandwiches, but not so sloppy and overflowing to create a difficult sandwich eating experience. I tried the potato salad last time(lots of lovely nuggets of bacon in there) — I meant to bring half of it home for my husband to try, but ended up using my fingers to clean the container — sorry honey! Too yummy to share. I was happy to see farm fresh eggs available there too — I’ll be taking advantage of those as well. Note — they’re fairly hidden — there’s a long hallway inside the Hub building that is home to several well hidden businesses, and Chop is all the way down on the right side of the building behind Tasty and Sons. It’s really worth stopping in for a sandwich at lunch! A little ways down the hallway in the other direction is an indoor picnic table next to a little courtyard with benches, so no matter what the weather is, you can use this sweet quiet spot to enjoy your lunch. I wish them the best of luck!
