Very traditional, old-school Chinese place… The food is good and has been very consistent for many years. Service has had its ups and downs at times, but on our last visit our waiter was excellent. On any of the dinners, you will likely be taking some home with you. the meals are very generous.

Whenever I think about Chinese food this place always comes to mind. I have eaten at a lot of different restaurants but this place has the best crab puffs I have ever eaten. I also love their barbecue pork, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and the kung pao chicken. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed! PS: Try their appetizer supreme! YUMMMMMMM

The Egg flower soup I was not a fan of, it was more bland than eggs but was hearty and filling. I feel the same could be said for the egg rolls, the taste of fried celery overwhelming. The chow main and fried rice were perfect and well cooked. I wasn’t fond of the egg medley but my partner was, so I believe it to be a preference. The staff was friendly, warm, and welcoming. We will return! Big portions!

I’m going to be honest with this review… When I first seen this place that was recommended to me by a friend, I thought in my head«whoa!» It looks run down, trashy and it’s sort of in a sketchy location. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a young lady who promptly seated us and brought us tea & water. My friend ordered a drink from the bar and was served right away. I ordered the Almond chicken chow mein, sweet & sour pork, fried rice & crab puffs. I believe it was the dinner combination #6? Anyways, the waitress brought us some delicious soup while we waited and before we even finished our soup she brought out our meals! Man oh man did it look delicious! Growing up in the gorge, Taste Of Village Chinese food in Troutdale was always our go to Chinese place. So I thought it was going to be hard to beat. Man oh man was I so blown away by the food here! It was simply delicious. Not greasy, nor was it bland. Everything was seasoned great, it was hot, and looked fresh. I loved it. I’m usually not a fan of chow mein, but this stuff was great! My pork was tender & the sauces were incredible. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will definitely be back!

I used to go here when I was a kid 15 years ago and it was a nice place to go and eat. Now the place looks like a dump. You would think the owners would do some renovation on the building. Food has also gone downhill. Last time I was here it literally felt like my arms were sticking to the tables. Bottom line… building needs better up keep and food would come along with it.

They need to retire the old lady from their staff. She’s extremely rude and unpleasant. Wouldn’t even get us a straw when we asked multiple times. Finally another waiter(not ours) brought us straws. I ask for some more sauce to dip my egg rolls into and she rolls her eyes at me. Finally I get the sauce I tell her thank you and she looks at me says«HeH» and grunts. F**k you too.

How disgusting, the food was so terrible. The olé’ gal serving us was the worst, no personality whatsoever. How do they stay in business?

This is your typical Americanized Chinese food restaurant. 4 stars for Chu’s, nothing spectacular but everything you would expect, nothing less, nothing more. The food is good, prices are good, I usually get to-go but every time I have dined in I have had great service.

We had such a good dinner here! On vacation visiting my boyfriend’s family we came here for a birthday dinner. They blocked off the whole back room, un-asked, and gave us great service. The food was awesome. Nothing fancy or different– just good food. If I lived in Portland I’m sure I would be there often!

The service was great and food was good the only thing I didn’t like was the food wasn’t very hot. The soup was actually almost cold… But cheap and it filled me up! $ 28 for 3 ppl!

Not a fancy place, but good Chinese food and service at a low price. I’ve been going to Chu’s for years and have never had a bad experience.

More like 3.5 stars, the crab puffs here are money, the fried shrimp is good. The rice is about as bad as it gets, though. They lost a lot of their value they had going for them with the new menu price updates, I think the lunch menu went from about $ 5.75 to near the $ 7 range, which isn’t great value for the quality or compared to other Chinese food lunch prices. The new price change doesn’t reflect in the quality of the food, except for the crab puffs. The staff is very friendly, especially the girl that handles the to-go orders around lunch. She has been there for a long-time.

Not too shabby. Needed a place to grab a quick bite to eat with my Dad. Stopped in and ate a quick lunch. For $ 6.75 we got the usual spread(Egg roll, won tons, soup and a combo plate) and great service. Nothing really exciting to write about as far as far as the food or restaurant. Just your typical Chinese Food joint.

No doubt, some of the best Chinese I have ever had. My boyfriend’s family has been coming here for years, and I can see why. Great good. My favorite is the shrimp and veggies, but the cashew chicken and orange chicken are VERY good.

I’m so surprised many found this place so good. I only went there once for lunch, it was 2 years ago; right about time we moved to our new house a few blocks away from this joint; and was super excited to find a Chinese food restaurant so close to home… therefore the lunch. We ordered the usual: Kung pao chicken, fried rice, and my husband got the combination. Which, I don’t remember. Price wasn’t bad as I recall, but when I took a bite into the food, I was VERYDISAPPOINTED with the taste, not the freshness, or size per se. Yah, I cook the way the cook made the food, it even tastes the same way I’d make it at home! :( I’m not ‘real’ Chinese(mixed with other ethnicity and I grew up in another Asian Country so def. not a real Chinese person), and my at-home cooking experience of Chinese food is amateur at best. But I’ve had many traveling experience to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and enjoy their cuisine that I know what I usually expect. I also frequent many Chinese restaurants in town(some of them I’ve not reviewed yet) and have had better ones, I know what I expect out of Portland’s Chinese restaurants. For me Chu’s was a sore disappointment because I want to love it so bad(well, we’d love take-outs!)
