Circa Home and Vintage’s description of themselves is «midcentury and new furniture, kitchen, dining, books, décor, eco-friendly gifts, and Waldorf-inspired toys, all in a tiny shop in Portland, ME. Featuring 40+ indie businesses! You should visit.» You really should, because it is an entirely lovely store. The other reviewer got it SPOTON when she wrote: it’s a «well-curated collection of items.» Looking for something inspired, inspiring, artsy, different, unique, or memorable for you or a friend? They’re going to have it(whether you already know whatever«it» is now or when you see it when you’er there). If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would probably come here and buy a gift for everyone I love(I fully admit that the price point here is not cheap, but locally made goods always cost a bit more — as well they should)! I was originally drawn here for the unique perfume oils they carry from Long Winter Soap Co.(one of the many indie businesses they support). The prices were a bit more than LWSC’s, but a) I only seem to find them in person twice a year; and, b) when you factor in shipping off their website, it ends up being around the same price. Plus, I can stand at Circa Home and Vintage for as long as I need covering myself in scents to find the perfect one! Besides, the store feels so homey, it’s hard not to want to linger. Even the owner was incredibly nice. Not just nice… she felt like a real human being… we had a good laugh while I was there even though we don’t know each other at all. Gotta love that sort of organically welcoming, truly neighborhood focused, kind of business owner!

I stumbled across this shop when I had just moved into town on Congress St. I figured I’d get to know my local neighborhood and have a peek. I was SUPER excited walking into this place because most of the products are handmade and natural/organic! There are soaps and detergents made locally by Maine crafters. They have hand screen-printed tea towels and a plethora of adorable little knick knacks for the home. It’s worth the walk in. I will definitely be here often

i popped into Circa Home today because i’ve walked by before and been intrigued. when i finally ventured in this afternoon, i was pleasantly surprised by a well-curated collection of items for the home and for crafting. there were a couple of items in stock that i’d specifically been looking for(Japanese masking tape, for example), and a lot of wonderful stuff that i had no idea i needed. the whole place gave me a feeling of being at home, and the owner was on-site and very kind. stop in. Circa Home is very cute with a surprising amount of very useful goods. i’ll definitely be back to see what sorts of treats will be there in the future.
