This is my sports bar of choice. I have to admit I am not a bar hopping person. This bar is the Browns Backers local bar for Portland Metro area. I am a Cleveland Browns fan so this was found by looking online. I never knew it excisted before I looked online. I enjoy the large tvs the place has. It has a huge HD projection screen for the major game of the day/night. The place has a Xbox 360 where you can play Rock Band and Guitar Hero on Tuesday Nights. The drinks are well priced. Sundays its a full house and packed full of fans during football season. Monday night football has a less turn out but always brings in the fun. Service is great. The lunchtime bartender on the weekdays knows his stuff and is really helpful. The waitress staff is very friendly and makes sure your glass is always full. This place has become my «Cheers» as my friend would say.

Watched the Blazers game here the other day. Tons of televisions, pretty decent drink deals($ 1.50PBR’s, $ 2 Drafts, etc.), «Recession Menu» with decent food. Nice and clean and easy to watch the game. The service is a little slow and it was tough to get a beer at the bar at times, but it was during a Blazers-Celtics game. Nachos were edible bar fare. It won’t matter pretty soon, but smoking was segregated to a seperate room and the bar isn’t smokey. It was nice not having to wash my coat when I got home from a sports bar…

I’ve been to the City a couple times on their karaōke night(Wed-Thurs). This place used to be a dance club which may explain the human sized cage. Because of it’s previous incarnations the acoustics are nice for such a large room. It’s usually pretty slow later on in the evening so they tend to close at midnight, though, they will stay open a bit later if there is a good sized crowd. Drink prices are reasonable especially when you consider their downtown location. Seems a good place to catch a game and a quick drink after work, but, due to hours I can’t recommend this as a late night spot.

All I can say is ROCKCHALKJAYHAWK! Oh yeah, plus some plush seating, no smoking, a plethora of TVs, and decent liquor selection. Service is a little more than spotty, but I’m willing to put up with it as long as I’m in the company of my fellow ‘hawks and comfy while I wait.

consistently funny comedians, headliner is always hilarious, great crowd, good vibe, cheap cover, $ 2 – 3 drinks, good food for bar food, liked the setting, waitresses seemed to be working hard, always leave smiling… will difinately be back every 2nd and 4th tuesday!

Husky fans beware… this is a Coug bar in hiding. Imagine our shock when we showed up to watch the Apple Cup and the only seats available were in the middle of the WSU alumni group. Let’s just say we were lucky to get out of there alive. There were lots of TVs but they are still running some old school sets(read no plasma here) and the food wasn’t great. If you like guacamole as much as I do you’ll be disappointed with what you get. All in all it did the job but probably wouldn’t be on my list to visit again next time I am in town.

Lots of TVs, that is certainly a good thing for a sports bar. They need to work on more seating though, perhaps get rid of that cage? I unfortunately did not order any food, partly since there were no seats. Oh well, next time I guess.

Good place to watch sport, lots of TVs everywhere. There was also a random cage in the corner which of course my friends jumped in and started dancing around. Not really sure what exactly it’s for other than to embarrass yourself! Just seems a little random in a sports bar?

I found myself in Portland wanting to talk shit to Pistons fans during game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, so I went here. It did not disappoint.(The same cannot be said for the Cavs.) Several big screens, each surrounded by smaller ones. The Cavs/Pistons game was on one of the HDs, with plenty of chairs, tables, and couches(!). The burger I ordered for dinner was fine — nothing spectacular, but food isn’t the primary reason to go to a sports bar in the first place.

City Sports Bar is the place for the playoffs Finding a good sports bar that’s not smoky, yet still has a fun crowd is a tall task in P-town. Finding one with all that and a huge, wide screen that makes you feel like you’re actually at the game, is priceless. That’s why City Sport’s Bar recently hit a home run with me and my friends. As soon as we walked in for the Seahawks playoff game, we knew we had found a great crowd. So good that there wasn’t one free seat in the house except for two open chairs at an occupied table. Luckily I’m not shy, so marched right over to ask one of the guys if it was ok we joined them.(Tip: If there are girls at the table too, always ask the guys first since they’re more inclined to be cool about it.) He said no problem, and we ended up right in front of the big screen. And man, was it awesome! Unlike other big screens, this one was crystal clear and so life-like that it felt like we were sitting on the 50-yard line. I know smaller flat screens are in now, but I’ll take this big one over those for a great game. The menu was surprisingly big for a sports bar, yet still offered the typical pub fare such as burgers, sandwiches and nachos. We opted for the homemade chicken strips, which came with a punchy barbecue sauce and crispy fries — yummy! Our waitress was great, asking if we needed anything quite regularly. My only complaint was that they ran out of light beer early in the game. You’d think they’d be better prepared for a big crowd. Other than that, though, we’ll definitely go back. The lively crowd alone was entertaining. Tip: Get there early for a game since a seat can be hard to find. Park at nearby SmartPark to save money and time trying to find a meter on the street.
