Clarence Walker for Flowers

Horrible! Warning! Ordered for my nephew’s birthday. He turned 8 yesterday, but sadly has been in the hospital over a month and has terminal cancer. Needless to say there is a lot of emotion around this birthday. I called first thing in the morning and was told that by ordering online (I’m from across the state) the order would be delivered promptly since the hospital is only 5 minutes away. I ordered a toy, stuffed animal and balloons for him and the same for his twin brother. By 11:30am I was concerned that I had not received an email confirmation on my order. I called and was told that I would not get one until it was actually delivered. I kept checking my email, but nothing arrived. By 2:30pm I called again and was told that it was out for delivery. By 5:50pm, still no email. We called (they close at 6pm) and we were told that it was sitting there, held up because they did not have one of the toys in stock. They changed the order and had a car rather than a robot for one of the boys. NEXT DAY NOON: Still no email. I called and the man didn’t seem to care how important this was for me and my family. He smugly stated that it was delivered. I asked him when, his response was «about 6:30 last night, so we did deliver on the same day. » No apology. I advise this business to realize that people are challenged with stress in their lives, positive and negative eg weddings, illness, funerals. No one going through this has the energy to chase down orders, follow up when it is the business that should do that, and they need to truly offer service in a time of need for compassion. I needed (and thought I paid for) the knowledge that someone was taking care of something extremely important to me. A sick 8 year old on radiation and chemo is worn down by 6:30pm on his precious birthday. As a retired business owner myself I am appalled. Forget how long this florist has been around. Don’t buy trouble, don’t buy here.

They are dishonest to what they said on the phone. Do not talk or pay them first over the phone. Wait until you she what you want (how you want before you pay them) That all I said… you should know what I mean to this people

I needed 2 floor standing balloon bouquets for a graduation party. I am from out of state and really had to rely on their expertise to select and design the perfect balloon bouquets. I also needed Sunday delivery to the restaurant. They delivered on time and the bouquets were exactly what I wanted. I would absolutely order from this company again.

We recently celebrated our 60^th anniversary. When I went to the venue the week before for a final check, (a private clubhouse) I happened to notice a beautiful large all white bouquet, with our name on it! There was a card attached. The following Monday I called the florist, Clarence Walker & the person I spoke to was annoyed that the bouquet was gone when they had come to pick it up, after someone realized it was delivered a week too early. I told her that since it was addressed to us, I assumed it was ours to take home.
She told me they would come to my home & pick it up. The next day someone called again & asked me to leave the arrangement in vase on my front porch so they could come get it on the following day. The temperature was 100o, & the flowers were several days old by this time.
On the day of the event, there was another bouquet, same vase, but completely different flowers. Both bouquets were lovely, but we thought the second was probably less expensive.
Since the event was held quite a distance from the floral shop, we wondered about the expense of making 4 round trips? Also they could have let me keep the first bouquet since it was beginning to die anyway.
I sent photos of both bouquets to the giver, with a thank you, & she was also disappointed at the incompetence of the florist. Nice flowers, poor customer service!

I would never order from this Florist again personally. I picked out a flower basket online that I wanted to get for my mother and they did not send what I chose. They ran out of half the flowers in the basket and decided to choose another plant of their choice. Never contacted me to let me know that they didn’t have the flower basket that I chose off their website. When I called to complain about this, the man who was running the store said okay I will go to their house and take out half of the flowers and replant it with the one you wanted. okay?! What?!! That is the worse customer service ever. Not only did they falsely advertise what flowers they had available, but their way to resolve the issue was to tell me they would go and retrieve my gift and replant the ½ the flower basket and take back the flower that they put in the basket. Worst customer service!

This was the worst customer service experience ever! Do not use this company. They are unreliable and rude. I ordered balloons on a Monday morning for delivery on Tuesday for a birthday, and they didn’t deliver the balloons until almost 6:30 pm on Tuesday! I asked them to deliver in plenty of time for the recipient to enjoy the balloons during the day of the birthday on Tuesday, but they didn’t do it. The man I spoke to on the telephone a couple of times (Clarence Walker?) was rude, unpleasant and extremely uncooperative. I talked to him at 5 pm on Tuesday to ask where the balloons were. I asked him to guarantee me that they WOULD be delivered that night. He said he couldn’t guarantee the delivery because «nothing in life is ever guaranteed.» He actually shouted at me on the telephone when I told him I thought his service was bad. A lot of aggravation and bad customer service is what you will get with this vendor. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Excellent selection and superior customer service! I will use Clarence Walker for years to come to send gifts to my family in Portland!

Last year when my son graduated from High School I ordered $ 200 + worth of Leis (my family is from Hawai’i) and they arrived via Fed Ex on time, the leis were in a box wrapped in Ti Leaves and newspaper, fresh, beautiful and gorgeous.
So this year when my daughter was graduating from University, I decided to again use Clarence Walker for the Leis. Why oh why did I do that???
Again — it was $ 200+ worth of Leis. They were supposed to arrive on Thursday as we were leaving on Friday morning to go down to Salem and the graduation was on Saturday. I knew that wrapped in Ti Leaves in the box and kept in the cooler they would be just fine.
On Thursday morning the woman from Walker florist called to ask when I needed to have the Leis by. (and now looking back on it, it seems strange since I had elected to have them shipped directly to me via Fed Ex so she wouldnt have known they werent shipped) and I said I NEEDED them to me TODAY as I was leaving TOMORROW to go to Salem. She said that they hadnt been shipped from Hawai’i. I said that is NOT good! She said she knows and doesnt know WHY they werent shipped. I said I NEED them for my daughters graduation. We went around and around. And she said ok. she had a solution. She said I could come pick them up the next day … Friday… at their shop in downtown Portland. she would make SURE they would be there. And I asked ‘but what if they are not” She then said she would drive them down to Salem to me so I could have them by Saturday for the graduation. So. I agreed. Despite the fact that in the midst of EVERYTHING else I had to do to get ready for the graduation — I now had to factor in going and picking the Leis up before driving to Salem which was the reason I had them scheduled to arrive via Fed Ex to my house on thursday to begin with.
So… Friday we went to Walker Florist. We got there and the woman said ‘I have your Leis right here. And she then says «I opened the box to check everything’. and I thought that was strange. Why would she open MY box of leis? But ok. The first thing I noticed was that there were NO Ti leaves in the box… only newspaper. And then I saw the Leis. They were HORRIBLE. We had ordered 2 of the Maile style Ti Leaf lei — they were good. We also ordered 2 of the white dendrobium. They were good. But the mixed white and violet ones were HORRIBLE. The white flowers were starting to brown up (as they do when they have been handled too much) they were wilted and were really awful. We also ordered a single Magenta Lei. THAT one was about 2 inches shorter than the other three lei!
The woman even said ‘those dont look right. They arent their usual quality. And I agreed. She then offered to replace them with other Leis that they had ‘in the back’ and I said ‘ok… but Im not going to pay more for them’ and she said ‘well they would be $ 9.99 more each’ and I said „NO. I paid over $ 200 for these lei’s and I already had to come pick these up. These were supposed to be delivered to me yesterday at my house and this has been a nightmare of worry all the way around. Im NOT paying more to get what I paid for. which was good quality leis for the graduation’. She said ‘ok let me go talk to Dennis.
A man then came out. and with a surly attitude said ‘whats the problem with these? huh?’ and he started poking at the leis. And I said „look at them. They are TERRIBLE. I have gotten Leis from you before and they were GOOD. These are NOT good“. I also showed him how the magenta lei was about 2 inches shorter than the other lei’s — he tried to give me some story about how its the number of flowers not the length of the lei. Then the woman also chimed in and showed him how they were NOT good. He said ‘well they look fine to me“ and then the woman asked if they could replace them with some beautiful purple Leis that they had in plastic boxes (which looked more like the Leis that had come in our box before for my sons graduation) and the man said ‘no they would have to pay extra for those’ and I said „No. Im not paying extra for anything“. So then the man finally went and leaned on the cash register and told the woman to ‘do whatever». She replaced the two mixed leis, and as I was thanking her the man said something like «I was up all night making leis». And then I noticed the shipping page on my box — which said June 12^th (thursday) and I realised what had happened.
On their website they sell groups of 10 leis that are shorter but are a good deal ($ 155 for 10 instead of $ 55.50 for 2) — Dennis had replaced my magenta with one of the cheaper shorter leis and then pieced together two ‘mixed colour’ leis out of the cheaper leis for MY box and then boxed up my beautiful expensive leis to sell for more money to someone else individually.
I did find a credit of $ 25.50 on my bank statement today — but that doesnt nearly make up for what I went through and bad business practices. I will NEVER use them again.

So much miscommunication! I ordered a couple of double leis to be delivered the morning of a graduation I was attending only to find out that it would be impossible to get it delivered before a certain time (If I had known that, I would have ordered it a day before but there was nothing there that said anything about it). But I was then told it would be delivered via FedEx and should show up in that morning since the leis ship out from their Hawaiian grower.
On the actually day of the graduation, I was anticipating for the leis to come all morning but they never came. I called in again to ask what was going on and was told that my order was going to be delivered by car around the time I was leaving for a graduation. It became FRUSTRATING! I was confused on why it had to be delivered by car when I was told it would be delivered via FedEx. I decided to cancel the delivery and go have it picked up. When I got the flowers, my double leis turned into single leis with a delivery fee still attached to it. I asked what happened to them and it looked like something went wrong with FedEx and the double leis were not shipped from Hawaii so they had to make the leis with orchids they had available at the store. I wasn’t notified about this AT ALL which frustrated me even more as I would have gotten more leis to make up the doubles or something else for my grad.
They did not let me know about these changes at all until the very moment I got them. They still charged me a delivery fee because it was «easier» and because «most are shipped to the recipient as most people are so busy» yet I drove almost an hour there to go get it myself. It just didn’t make sense. Why should I still get charged for delivery when I had to get the flowers myself, with no notification that my order was changed, and that there were problems with shipping the real ones?
This whole process was an utter disappointment to me and those involved. I wish things could have been better but I guess I’ll be on the hunt again for an actual reliable florist.
Don’t waste your time and money here. It’s not worth the stress and frustration.

I ordered a double Lei for a work party. The employee who was being honored as the EOM is Hawaiian. The lei was beautiful! Delivered on time and made her cry so I guess it was a BIG success! Even though I ordered on line I called the shop twice just to confirm. Each time I received great info delivered with service excellence! Thx for making our coworker cry tears of happiness!

Why oh why didn’t I check Unilocal before I used this company? I ordered a sympathy arrangement and had looked through 4 websites and finally chose Clarence Walker because of the beauty of the arrangement. One good point is that they did find Calla lilies which Linda did tell me they might be hard to get. However, what was delivered looked NOTHING like the arrangment that I ordered! The length of the flowers arranged, the greenery in the arrangement and the shape of the vase! One of the reasons to go through a florist is for their expertise, what was delivered I could have done myself and saved $ 100. Their website has an «Our Guarantee» which they do not stand by. When I sent them an email regarding my disapointment (but also my thanks for getting the out of season flowers) the email I finally recieved addressed that the designer said «it is virtually impossible to make a stylized arrangement as shown in the picture». They addressed the flowers were heavy and move a great deal in a delivery vehicle. They said it was possible the driver or my friend moved the flowers around. They addressed the arrangement was maybe better than what I ordered because of where they were placed in the home (I attached the picture of what I ordered and a picture of what was sent). There was NO apology about my dissapointment, no offer to replace or refund. Please do not spend (waste) your money at this establishment.

Yesterday was my 6 year old God daughters birthday. I had meant to order earlier but forgot. The good part is that I live two time zones away in Alabama. I called Clarence Walker and the lady who answered was very polite and helpful. She helped me select a great balloon bouquet. It only cost about $ 50 delivered and I got an email to let me know that it had gotten there… but the absolutely best part is that I got a beautiful photo from her with a big smile on her face. Anytime I need a florist in Portland, it’s Clarence Walker.

This is what service is all about! It was my Anniversary yesterday (December 2^nd) my wife was in the Portland area for work. I was in Virginia for work but wanted to get something to my wife without her knowing about it. I called and talked with Linda. I told her the item I wanted to send, but I messed up the time as I was on the East Coast. The item I wanted I had to order much earlier to secure it for the same day delivery. Linda put me on hold and worked some magic to make this thing happen for me. While I was on hold, Linda would jump back on the line to let me know she was there working for me so I did not feel lost on the line. It was an AMAZING process. I am in the hospitality business and I wish I could; 1.) get Linda to come work for me and 2.) Clone her about 20 times so I could have all of my guests have that same sort of amazing service! Thank you Linda, you now have a customer for life!!!

I’ve used this florist many times over the years. Never been disappointed their service is fast friendly and their flowers are beautiful.

After having a horrible experience with From You Flowers not delivering my «new baby bouquet» I called Clarence Walker since they were the shop open on a Saturday near the Kaiser Sunnyside. The guy who answered the phone was incredibly helpful and sympathetic and told me that my flowers would get to my intended destination that day. (Just to note: I did have to call the Kaiser Sunnyside Labor Unit and ask them to look at the flower dropoff area in order for the flowers to actually get to where they need to be – so just be aware that you need to do that when delivering there). But great, fast, service!!! Thank you ;)

Mother’s Day flowers from my son were supposed to arrive Saturday but arrived at noon on Monday. They were droopy and looked as though they had spent the night in the delivery car. My son complained and was offered a full refund by the online ordering company. The representative at Clarence Walker called and said they would be picking up the flowers since the order was cancelled. No responsibility was taken for the late delivery or the quality. Horrible customer service and horrible people skills. Do not use them.

I placed an order to be delivered to my husband for our anniversary. It was the Beer Mug of Blossoms and the picture on the Internet looked great! Unfortunately, the person taking my order thought he heard BEAR MUG OF BLOSSOMS (not that they have one of those in their happy hour collection) and those were delivered instead. I wasn’t happy about the mix up but I understand mistakes and was willing to let them deliver the correct order on the following day BUT the woman on the phone told me that she wasn’t going to charge me for the bouquet they delivered to my husband BY ACCIDENT! I then insisted that they deliver on the date that I’d ordered it for. After an afternoon of will they or won’t they deliver on my anniversary date, they finally delivered the flowers… My husband brought them home… I got taken! The arrangement was anemic and sad looking and NOT the simple but beautiful arrangement I saw on the website. I should have done this myself and I will next time. Word to the wise; check their work before you have it sent. On the bright side, it was the thought that counts; they refunded me for the balloon they took back (the woman on the phone said that it was my husbands fault cause he gave it back, to which I told her that I didn’t give my husband a checklist of everything that was supposed to come with his gift). I don’t know how many times they told me over the phone that I got what I’d paid for… I did not, bad and insulting service and a terrible inferior product are not worth 50 bucks! BUYERS BEWARE! BUYERS BEWARE

HORRIBLE! The arrangement for my friends birthday wasn’t delivered until the last ten minutes of the day and the shop couldn’t even tell me if my arrangement was going to be delivered on the scheduled day! The person answering the phone told me, «I don’t know if it (the arrangement) will get there today. There’s lots of traffic.». Half the fun of receiving flowers is showing them off to your coworkers. Despite ordering a day and half in advance of my delivery, these jokers waited until after 4:30P to deliver. Never again. AVOID THIS SHOP!
