Clay Street KinderCare

This is an OK daycare but not the best. The director Shauna was always very friendly and connects with parents on a personal yet professional level but some of the other girls seemed to hate their life working here. Most of the girls from the infant and toddler room rarely greet the parents and only speak when they have to. A few times when dropping my son off early I overheard them complain about their boss stating how bad of a place this was to work at. Hearing this made it very awkward and makes you as the parent wonder how the negativity between the staff mirrors our children’s care.
On the other hand I was satisfied with the pre-​school teacher who always seemed very positive and the kids seemed to like her.
This facility also closes a lot for «Staff Development Days» but will not prorate the days off your tuition although you have no control over their closed days.
It is also important to note that this Kindercare facility has no outdoor playground and the kids have to spend all day inside in very small class rooms. Pricing is also pretty high compared to what this facility has to offer.
This is by no means a horrible day care but I personally would not bring my son back.

I needed a temporary child care center while in Portland for work (for 4 months). I got very lucky when I found this place. They are fantastic! The Director (Shauna) is nice, accommodating and very professional. Ashley (assistant Director) is very friendly and wonderful to work with as well. My daughter was in the toddler class, and I was extremely impressed with the planned curriculum, the nutritious food schedule, and the teachers ability to connect with each child. My daughter thrives on the social, learning environment that is provided there. The Clay Street Kindercare is my number one top choice, should I ever need to work in Portland again.
