This place should be called crap motors instead of Columbia Motors! First off I drove from Medford and when I called Max told me the car just had a little cosmetic damage that didn’t bother me and also that the car had never been in a wreck! So I get up there fall in love with the car and buy it and before I signed the papers I asked Alex if it had been in a wreck and he said nope it has a clean title well he gives me a 21 day trip permit and off my mom and I go back to Medford I take it to the local Acura dealership and they tell me it needs $ 1,000 worth of work or the motor could blow GREAT! And it had been in a wreck so I call up Alex he tells me My mom and I are the liars and he told us that it had been wrecked but only front end damage! Oh and they had to end up sending a new trip permit cause it took 2 months to send the darn title! Oh low and behold when the title comes it says the car was totaled and it was a reconstructed title I call them up tell them I’m not happy and they tell me that 70% of their cars are reconstruction cars! So BEWARE OF THIS CRAP PLACE AND SHADY JERKS!

I purchased a low-​mileage (clean title) MINI Cooper S from Columbia Motors. The experience was fantastic. They helped me secure a great loan through a Portland credit union, got the paperwork squared away in about an hour, and even delivered the MINI to my house. Steve is a great guy and he really knows cars. He and his brother were mechanics prior to opening up Columbia and they’re really passionate about cars.
A few weeks ago one of the electric door latches went out (common MINI issue) and Steve fixed it up in less than an hour for a very reasonable price.

Had a great experience here! Our car died, and we had an immediate need to purchase a new one. The selection and prices here were very reasonable, and all of the staff here were just lovely to work with. Larry in finance was thorough and quick with the paperwork. Maks was a great salesman too. We will have a need for a second vehicle in the near future and we will be back!

First off they SPECIALIZE in buying cars with salvage titles and then they rebuild them to have a REBUILT certification which is why they can offer amazing deals! I bought a rebuilt 2009 Subaru Outback (which if you want a Subi they have tons!) and was pleased with how fast and easy the transaction was. All of the gentlemen I dealt with were kind and respectful and helped me get a great deal.
After purchasing the car I took it to my mechanic to have it fully inspected (which you really should do before you buy…). Car is in excellent condition, and my mechanic said it was one of the cleanest engines they have seen in a while.
I am very happy with my experience and would recommend them to anyone in the market for an affordable rebuilt car! They showed me the CarFax report showing that my car was totaled due to vandalism and not a collision accident, and mentioned that they dont work with vehicles that have damaged frames because its too costly to get them to the high standards of having a certified rebuilt title.

I recently had an excellent experience buying a car from Columbia Motors. Unlike a typical used car lot where the salesmen seem to be perched like vultures ready to pounce on easy prey, these guys were amiable, relaxed and a pleasure to deal with. I had already checked the Carfax report on the car and had also compared the price of similar cars for sale nationwide. I was able to take it for an extended test drive on my own without a minder, then sat down with Larry in his office to discuss the details. He’s a great guy and there was no pressure or any suggestion of «upselling» anything whatsoever. He was very forthcoming about everything I asked and he offered me an excellent price for the car that was at or below the going rate, so I bought it on the spot. I’m sure he would have happily agreed to a pre-​purchase inspection done elsewhere at my expense, but it didn’t seem necessary. He even personally delivered the car to my home 30 miles away. All in all, I got a fantastic car for a very fair price and actually enjoyed the whole experience.
I think for most people, buying a used car can be about as pleasant as a root canal gone wrong. But if you’re in the market for a good used car, check with these guys first. If they don’t have what you’re looking for they can probably find it. If nothing else it will be a pleasant experience and you won’t feel like you’ve been slimed.

Don’t buy your vehicle here. They have a website with good pictures and with the price they are asking, but aren’t transparent as far as the actual vehicle characteristics. I found what I thought was a great deal, Dodge Ram with 88,000 miles. There was a section that said the title was «clean». Pretty excited about the truck, I visit them, and on further investigation, learn that it was in a wreck and was actually «salvage» and if I registered it would become «reconstructed». Later I looked at the bottom of the ad and it did say «vehicle has salvage title» but not in the top section.
I should have left right there, but I had driven 2 hours to the dealership and only had a week left in Oregon. Not a good excuse to rush a purchase but I was under the impression it was a good deal. When I called the bank for the loan they even said it was a good deal.
So I bought it, not too happy with the truck itself. Driving it well over 2000 miles now, I’ve noticed the engine has gotten much louder, and it has a tick. Of course. Also has a very obvious coolant leak because I can smell it. I used a coolant system pressure tester and it slowly loses pressure. Ugh.
Never buy a vehicle in a rush. Columbia Motors took 7 weeks to send me the plates and registration. Meanwhile, I had been constantly having to get temporary tags for base and had gotten pulled over and a cop gave me a ticket for not carrying registration, whatever Columbia gave me didn’t work as one.
As the final straw, I got my title in the mail today and for odometer reading it says «not actual». So when I thought at least it was a low mileage vehicle, I actually have no idea if it actually has. Columbia motors was very helpful in selling me something I never wanted. So kudos to you, Columbia. I have a truck that isn’t worth a fraction of what you sold it to me as.
If you do buy a vehicle here, make sure you take it to a mechanic, don’t buy anything right away, and don’t buy a reconstructed title unless that’s what you want. Treat it like a sketchy roadside deal. And double check the mileage.

After further review still love the car but the car was kinda of pieced back together and no seat belts for the third row searing. I called to talk to them and acted like it wasnt their problem. YOU SOLD A CAR WITHOUT SEAT BELTS. Now I am wondering of it turely has a clean title or not. I will be making a complaint with the state attorney’s office.

We recently purchased a vehicle from Columbia Motors. We were assured by them that their mechanic would fully inspect and disclose all issues with the vehicle.
We purchased the unit and then took to the dealer for maintenance — we are now in for nearly $ 12 000 beyond our purchase price. Nearly every major component has failed. CM told us we bought it as is and have no further obligations!
Stay away from this company — bad representation of the vehicle’s condition and not willing to own up their lack of disclosure.

Above and Beyond is the service I received! What a fantastic team… I would definitely recommend purchasing from Columbia Motors. They gave me a great buying experience and trade in value for my old car! Now, I have a wonderful BMW! Thanks for everything!

Had a great car shopping experience and great customer service by Larry. Would recommend to anyone looking for a car.

Maks and the whole team are truly welcoming and really knowledgable throughout the whole process of finding and buying a car. Maks even went above and beyond and is fixing a small issue that the car had on the company’s dime. I wouldn’t expect that from any dealer. I will definitely come back next time I’m in the market.

Found what looked like a good deal. VIN showed a salvage car that was in a wreck, not stated in the post. Shady.

I bought a 2007 Subaru STI from these guys it is a salvage title I took a risk with this because its a used sports car and I live in CA so the car got here and seemed fine until I went to get it smoged… long story short they sent me an entire exhaust system. these guys went above and beyond for me and really came through. I have had the car for almost a year now and other then scheduled maintenance its been running grate and I love it, these guys rock!

We recently purchased a 2013 Prius from Columbia Motors. It appeared to be in excellent condition, and the CarFax showed one owner (Hertz Rental) and a clean title. I asked if it had ever been in an accident, and they said that it had not. We agreed on what seemed a fair price, closed the deal (even though there was only one key fob, a major pain) and a few days later, took it to a local Toyota dealer to have an outstanding recall taken care of, and to determine why the windshield washer wasn’t working properly. The dealer reported that the washer tank had been cracked in the accident! Uh oh.
Back to Maks, or salesman at Columbia Motors. To our surprise and relief, Maks worked with us to resolve the problem to our satisfaction! They determined that the accident had not been reported by Hertz because, according to Hertz, the damage was under the limit ($ 700) that required a report. Columbia regretted the situation, and offered to fix any problems with the car that stemmed from the accident. They also offered to provide an after-​market, 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty to put our minds at rest about the unreported accident damage. We accepted the offer and took the wholesale value of the warranty as a rebate, in lieu of the policy.
All in all, we felt Columbia Motors did right by us under the circumstances. We still think they should have recognized the fact that the car had been damaged, even though Hertz attempted to hide the fact (Columbia Motors has a GREAT DEAL of experience with salvage title cars, and it’s hard to believe they simply accepted the auctioned vehicle without a thorough inspection). Still, they could have told us that, after our purchase the vehicle and the problem was ours alone, caveat emptor, and sent us packing… many such lots would have done so. Instead they worked with us to make us satisfied customers, and that was much appreciated. I can’t in good conscience give them 4 or 5 stars, since they should have known about the issue and been up-​front with us about it. Nevertheless, they did the right and honorable thing after the problems surfaced. Thanks, Maks!

Be really careful. I have run VIN look-​up in CARFAX check and found both the cars I am interested are bought in a salvage auction while the cars are been told to be clean and some of the maintenance documents are available. I would not even look at any car that is sold by them not worth the risk, they are not honest.

Currently for a Landcruiser, and came across one on this dealer’s lot. Contained the following description:
«ONE OWNER, 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, in very, very good condition. It’s a RARE find with ONLY 55K MILES. The previous owner has obviously taken care of this car and it shows! Runs and drives really well.»
In 30 seconds of research on this vehicle through it’s VIN reveals that this vehicle was purchased from a salvage auction; photos show the complete rear of the truck decimated. Same VIN, mileage, color, etc– it’s the same truck.
Draw your own conclusions, but I question whether a reputable dealer would ever repair a salvage vehicle and then pawn it off as being in excellent condition (and priced accordingly) — very questionable — be wary.

I bought a 2011 Chevrolet 3500HD LTZ sight unseen. a big very expensive risk. I showed up and it was beautiful and everything I expected. Exactly as they described the vehicle. The sales guy was MAKS,

It had a mechanical hiccup on my drive home… UGH & GULP!!! I figured I was in for big trouble. I limped to my local Chevrolet delearship where they diagnosed and repaired the problem. I contacted Maks. They asked for the documentation and the dealership information and sent me a check for the repair costs. What could have been a really ugly experience was a perfectly acceptable experience. I would absolutely buy from them again.

Maks was very helpful; he answered all of our questions and made our experience positive and one which we would recommend to friends and family. He was respectful and courteous throughout the process. We will be returning costumers with Columbia-​Motors.

Out of the many local dealerships within the Portland metro area, the staff at Columbia Motors have been the friendliest, most knowledgable and helpful when it comes to buying a used car. From my own experience I saw that they are truly dedicated to customer satisfaction!
I was looking for gas efficient sedan, something newer but affordable for a college student. At first the high class luxury vehicles and SUVs that are displayed on Columbia Motors’ website had me worried, but after a pleasant phone call, the sales representative assured me he would let me know as soon as they come across something!
It wasn’t too long before Maks got me behind the wheel of an 09 Ford Focus, with low gas mileage and the cheapest price around!
Being a used car, Maks made it very clear on the services it had undergone and the warranty options which were available for me. His level of honesty made this one of the most comforting purchase I have ever made!
It’s been almost a year, and I have yet to report any problems with my ride! Very happy with my overall experience and would recommended this dealership to all my friends!
