Commonwealth Event Rentals

I love everything about Commonwealth! I have had the pleasure of working with Hannah for a little over a year now and I could not be happier. Their pieces are stunning, impeccably cared for, and beautifully curated. Not to mention, Hannah and her team are an absolute dream to work with! They are always prompt and professional and always willing to go that extra mile to help make every event as perfect as possible. As a wedding planner, there is a lot riding on each and every event that I produce. Knowing that everything rental-​related will be absolute perfection allows me to breath a little easier, and in this industry that is priceless!

I have been working with Hannah for almost a whole year now with rentals at Coopers Hall and I just love Coomonwealth! Hannah is always so helpful, prompt and professional. For me, the best thing they do is read the space. I ask for a look with budget from my clients and Hannah always get’s it perfectly. Their furniture has all the charm of the vintage feel with modern touches. I always look forward to working with Commonwealth, plus delivery and pickup is breeze!

I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Rachel from Commonwealth Vintage Rentals. I found them from the press they received from an Ace Hotel wedding and knew they would provide me with furniture for my own wedding that was reflective of what I wanted and not too «vintage-​y», but still had an authentic and inventive quality.
I loved visiting them in their studio and when I needed more rugs to create seating areas that felt like my style — Rachel sourced and found them! We met several times and had a wonderful time designing the little sets that would be where our wedding guests could hang out. Rachel came out on the day of our wedding to make sure everything was styled correctly. She had an excellent eye and knew quickly exactly what I was going for!
I was thrilled with the fun, the service and cool rentals that they had available. I suggest them to everyone!

I have had the pleasure of working with Rachel & Liz on countless occasions, and it is always a complete dream.
Punctual, detail-​oriented, and efficient, with a great crew behind them, they embody what every small business should strive for. Not to mention, they have excellent taste in furnishings!

Unfortunately, it is just not true that any compensation like dry cleaning fees were offered– maybe this confusion came because Rachel responded to my review when it was Liz who spoke with me? The benches were not left out for two days in the sun either; they were set up the day before the wedding by the Commonwealth ladies who did not warn of any possible problems related to the sun. Again, the temperatures were right on the average for the year, so there were no unexpected circumstances. I expect professionals to trouble shoot before the day of the wedding, rather than learn on the job and potentially run into problems like these with no time to solve them. Again, Liz was extremely rude and defensive when we discussed this problem after the wedding. I acknowledge the attempted to fix the problem the day of the wedding, but the fact was, it was too late to be fixed because the proper preparations had not been made. Additionally, I have a hard time believing these benches were used without problems for 14 months– especially because the response to my original review contained several blatant lies, it seems like they are just trying to cover up what actually happened. My feeling is that they probably had never used these benches before, seeing as they didn’t know how many they had in their inventory, and they didn’t forsee the huge problems that would occur if they were used in the sun, which was in our plan from day one. I am glad to hear they resealed them, but also a bit surprised since Liz argued with me for a good half hour (minimum) about how they did not need to be resealed, and it couldn’t have been their fault, and it couldn’t have been related to the way they were sealed. I expect professionals to act more like professionals, especially when charging like professionals– I would still gladly take any compensation for my guests dry cleaning and the stress this problem caused– but it just was never offered. They offer attractive items at what I think is fair, but by no means inexpensive, prices, and it is just unprofessional to not reimburse your clients if the items they rented caused so many problems– legally if I wanted to pursue it, I am sure they would be required to reimburse me since the items I rented could not fulfill the purpose they were rented for, and in fact the damage they caused exceeded the cost of the rentals. Rachel and Liz, I am still open to receiving that reimbursement, but I can guarantee you, it was never and will never be offered– that was the most frustrating part of this experience. As a new business, you should correct your mistakes as you make them, and driving an hour to wipe down benches that still ruined everyone’s clothes was not enough. Again, rent with caution from Commonwealth– maybe in a few years their «learning on the job» will be done and it’ll be a safer bet? I’ll keep Unilocal readers updated about any compensation offered, but don’t hold your breath.

Last Summer Commonwealth rentals styled my wedding and boy, did they do it perfectly!!! Rachel and Liz truly are easy to work with, they focus on your style (and help you expand) and communicated well. I had an idea of how I wanted my wedding to look and how much I could spend. We met at a local coffee shop and they showed me photos of pieces that they had and explained to me what they offered. I brought photos of my inspiration and together we started making decisions. I explained to them that I wanted the ceremony and reception seating to be wooden benches and that the reception tables to be rustic wood tables. My wedding guest list was around 200 people– they searched for the things I wanted but couldn’t find enough! So they went the extra mile and built all of the benches and tables! They came up with great ideas too! Liz called me and asked if they could hang a chandelier from the ceiling as a backdrop for the ceremony– and of course I thought that was a good idea!!! If they didn’t have what I wanted they searched for it, ordered it online or built it themselves. They are very talented and I totally trusted them to do everything. Rachel and Liz also stayed within my budget and came up with new ideas when I started running out of money. All of my wedding guests thought that my wedding was beautiful. I received so many compliments. Many guests stated that it should have been in a magazine or that «it’s so anthropologie.» I truly have Commonwealth to thank because they were preparing for my wedding months in advance, set-​up, tore-​down and worked so hard to make my day special. They truly care and I highly recommend them!
