Covet is a cute shop selling higher-end clothing that you can find all over the Bay Area, tho’ perhaps the market in PDX is not as saturated. The lines have all been mentioned by other Unilocalers and are great quality. I didn’t note anything particularly local, tho’ everything in this shop fits in with a casual yet well dressed attitude that seems appropriate here in Portland. Lots of nice shirts & sweaters to layer, exceptional jeans selection, and some terrific belts. My discretionary income budget, like many people, is down the tubes. I will check back here, tho’, as the saleswomen were all very friendly & engaging. This is a sweet shop that deserves your business!

I stopped in here today and covet is what I have done since I left. I’m coveting the gorgeous cashmere sweaters with beautiful, perfect lines that are more than I can justify spending. It’s a great space, with a wonderfully friendly and personable owner and fantastic lines of clothing primarily from NY designers. She carries Citizens of Humanity jeans but far different styles than what you would find at Nordstrom or other major department stores. And, she earns the full five stars because as I walked through and rubbed my hands on all of the fantastically soft fabrics, she informed me that she sent out an email today, knowing that I hadn’t received it because this was the first time I had been in, advising that everything will be 10% off tomorrow. I will be going back in to try on the fantastic grey velvet pants and one of those cashmere sweaters!

Cute place! Lots of great labels– Citizens of Humanity, J2, and ROAM, just to name a few. Great little space with lots of light, packed to the gills with great knits, jeans, and accessories. Prices are right on par with everyone else selling the same brands. Support the small local shops. Buy your denim here.

My friend and I happened in this afternoon, and oh my! What lovely clothes! A nice, worldly collection of wearable fashions, fit for Portland or Paris. And most importantly, friendly staff! I felt so at home here that I even ate the chocolates, and drank the champagne ;)

If you love your Citizens of Humanity jeans as much as I do… then maybe you’d rather pick up your next pair here. They are priced much cheaper than at Nordstrom, plus you’d be supporting a local, hot, stylish new boutique in Portland. Even if denim isn’t your thing, there are plenty more items to choose from — bright colors, fashionable(but not ridiculous) dresses and tops, and other savvy selections aplenty. There was even a sophisticated yet adorable spring coat on sale(which is perfect just about mid-June here in Portland because it has stubbornly remained SO cold). Two things set Covet apart from from other boutiques you might frequent:(1) The owners are so sweet, passionate, and friendly — which probably explains the complete lack of a snobby-vibe one might find in other swank retail locations.(2) The selection is varied enough to offer may great styles, but not so big that its overwhelming or intimidating. Its a big like a whimsical shopping trip to my closet that doesn’t-yet-exist because its all stuff I’d want, all in one place. So I suppose that I do find the store appropriately named: covet indeed!
