Pretty much the same experience as Mike S. Sat down with Courtney talked about what I wanted to do. Told her my budget of 10k for a bathroom update(mainly tile work, smaller bathroom), she told me 20k is probably the minimum and would give me a number for the Oregon Remodelers Association. Didn’t seem willing to have someone come take a look at my space. Too quick to dismiss a project based on a rough, thrown out budget number.

I like working with a close in Buckman business that specializes in older homes and knows the neighborhood.

Honestly, I usually review restaurants and not services, and I can only think similarly oriented clients can be the only justification for the lack of reviews for this outstanding business. This was our first remodeling project, and we wanted a professional remodel by someone who would bring back the lost beauty to our 1910 home. The project was big but our budget had limits, and as remodeling newbies, we had minimal trust in finding someone who would treat us with respect. After checking out both a larger, more expensive outfit and a smaller, cheaper remodeler, we went with Craftsman Design and Renovation, who we learned of from a neighbor, whose kitchen I’ve long-admired and who raved about her working relationship with them. I further checked them out on and Houzz. They are a smaller business and treat you like you’re their only client. We were impressed both by their respect for our ideas and helpfulness in working with our budget. They contributed great ideas, including doing our project in prioritized phases, that let us achieve our vision over time and within our financial restraints. While no one dreams of living through the disruption of a remodel, this one had few hiccups, and any problems were addressed head on, quickly, and with integrity. The project was professionally managed, and Craftsman Design communicated with us every step of the way, in a respectful manner. We had the same lead carpenter throughout and had a great rapport with him. Finally, the results are just phenomenal. We couldn’t be happier with the main floor rooms, from the new layout to the new woodwork that matches the retained, existing cabinets. We actually can’t wait until we can start work on the kitchen!
