The people at Cravedog were very helpful. Christen stuck with me every step of the way with my project. I was meticulous about its design and they met my concern equally in production quality. Thanks again to everyone at Cravedog! –Patrick Foster

ok, so i had been working on making a cd for like forever, and the guy who mastered my record recommended these guys. so i choose them cuz they were in oregon, so no sales tax, yay! well, everything seemed to be going well, they were friendly, emailed prompt replies to questions and concerns, and their graphic designer even caught some problems with the layout for the cd inserts. unfortunately, not all of the problems. see, i was fine with it taking six weeks to get the cds after shipping the masters off to them, i figured, well it’s the holiday season, i guess things take a little longer, though six weeks was quite a long turnaround time. well i finally get the cds, and look at that, not all the artwork printed out perfectly, cuz well, i suck at photoshop. but you see, never did cravedog ever offer me the option of final approval of a hard copy proof of the artwork. so everything looked fine electronically, but when printed out, nope, not all of the blacks matched, so now my potentially beautiful cd looked tacky as hell. sometimes you gotta learn lessons the hard way, but $ 2300 and 4 years is a tough lesson to learn, especially when you’re an anal rententive perfectionist like i am. but really, i was even more concerned to learn that the cds had shipped terre haute Indiana. i mean, nothing against the great state of Indiana, but wasn’t i doing business with a company from Portland Oregon? so what does this mean? could it be that Cravedog outsources the manufacturing of the cds to another company located halfway across the country? wish they had been more upfront about that? could it be that the print job was also outsourced to who knows where, thereby being the reason that they could not offer me a hard copy proof of the artwork? what are these guys, just middle-men? i had all these questions and more which i politely laid out in an email to the sales rep, michael, the day after my cds arrived. unfortunately i never received a response to that email. it took him a week to give me a call back, but we never actually spoke, as i missed his call, and when i called back, well, he was«out to lunch.» would have figured that with $ 2300 i would have eventually gotten some kind of response, cuz if i’m the type of guy to blow $ 2300 on my vanity musical project, well then chances are that i’ll do it again, cuz i’m pretty damn dedicated to pursuing my artistic failure for as long as i can afford to throw money at a dream. but nope. it’s been over a month, and now i’ve a got a bunch of cds with flawed artwork, all because i made a mistake with photoshop, and Cravedog couldn’t be bothered to offer me a hardcopy proof or more interaction with their graphic design department. I really hate to have to take my grievances to a public forum, but unfortunately, i guess sometimes i am a petty and negative person. and i’m also a damned perfectionist who spent $ 2300 with this company and they couldn’t be bothered to follow-up with me to make the situation right. so, no, i will not be using this company for my next project. i suppose that i should be thankful that whatever company that actually manufactured the cds(in Indiana) did a great job and they cds all play correctly and sound great. but appearances are what count too!
