Tried this place twice. It was dead both times.
The first bartender was super sweet and helpful.
The second bartender had an attitude and clearly didn’t want to be bothered.
So overall a 3. Fine little cocktail list but nothing extraordinary.

This is a great little place. While visiting Portland a friend took us here and we really enjoyed the warm and unique atmosphere, and the food was good to!

Went there towards the end of the night because my buddy wanted to have a drink. There was only one bartender so it took a long time we ended up leaving. The décor however is very nice, and I think the place has a lot of potential if they work on the service.

District features 1920’s décor with hand crafted cocktails. The staff is inviting, friendly and hospitable while delivering well balanced and delicious craft drinks. Thursday and Friday they feature business networking events from 5−8pm. Thursday through Monday they feature DJ’s from 9pm-​2am.
Perfect place for after work cocktails with friends and co-​workers. Outside seating is available and especially enjoyable during summer months. The plaza has private security provided by Ankeny Alley Association. Bring your friends and enjoy a wonderful experience!

Place has potential. However, I was very put off by my first interaction with the bartender. I was the first to order in my group (it was slow, no other patrons waiting) and I asked for a club soda and a food menu. I was SHOCKED when he said it would be $ 3. I said I’ve never paid for club soda in a bar before besides a fancy restaurant. He went on to patronized me saying it WAS a fancy place and asking how long I’ve lived in PDX (5yrs). While this place has nice décor, food is still $ 8 – 12 and we ordered at the bar– not a place you’d expect to pay for club soda. I would have liked him to say «No problem, but just so you know, we serve bottled club soda rather than thru the gun, so there is a charge» before serving me– simple as that.
My friend ordered a Paloma next and he didn’t know what it was. Really?
I chose not to order food and the rest of my group didn’t end up ordered based on this bartender. Go to Valentines on the same block for better bartenders who are respectful and up front.

A much ‘nicer’ bar than a few of its neighbours, though not as colourful, District injects a little bit of class in a area that can come off a little rough & ready, while still retaining a laid back vibe.
Service was real friendly and the wines we had were all lovely too.

Excellent music, drinks and atmosphere.
James we miss you! District is a little «secret treasure» of Portland. Service is exceptional and everybody’s smiles! Ian looking forward when the little alley will be completely redone. That area should be boosted up a little but after all is part of the «Speakeasy «experience.

Definitely the most upscale bar in the downtown/​old town area. A beautiful space with the type of atmosphere that encourages you to put on your most elegant pair of Jimmy Choos and a sequin dress. I love how the bartenders are dressed extra dapper and I love the upstairs VIP space with its own bathroom and a nice view of the bar below. My favorite cocktail there is the ginger snap– if you like me adore ultra gingery cocktails then that’s the one. I haven’t tried the food or happy hour yet, but probably will at some point.

The only downside to this space would be the capacity limit, and that isn’t the bars fault, but the OLCC’s.
I was here for a friends birthday party and we were given the upstairs, which gave us a perfect viewed the lovely décor; namely the ligt fixtures.
The drinks are on the pricier side, but then, this is higher end and comparable to any nice bar in the pearl.
What really stood out for me was the über classy way the bartenders dressed. Like they stepped right out of a gangster movie or one of the roaring 20’s.
The location is a little hard to find, but is on that alley downtown that gets blocked off on the weekends and is filled with picnic tables. It’s worth the search.

One of my favorite places in Portland to kick back and grab a craft cocktail early in the night, when it gets later the music turns up and the place comes alive. I love the mode and the energy.

Cool little place with a dark, sexy, atmosphere. Grab some classy drinks then stumble over to the kit Kat club for some sexy time! Friendly staff, don’t be scared off by the low numbers of reviews. Loft area has a nice couch with a view of the alley.

The vibe is fantastic and loved the old pictures of the area on the big screen. But, ordered a cocktail that specifically said Rittenhouse Rye on the menu and the bar tender poured Jim Beam instead and still charged same price. Not okay. Also ordered a couple sandwiches and the bread was completely hard (to the point where you couldnt bite it) and there was very little meat. Okay almost no meat. Will definitely not be back and not recommend.

Amazing vibe, Gatsby meets New Orleans in this swanky setting, tucked away between the financial and entertainment districts in old town Portland.

Delicious cocktails and the ambiance is great. Not inexpensive, but not overpriced.
Remarkable that the music was strong but could still hear other people speaking at the bar.
