Dougherty Dental

I was referred to Dougherty Dental by my daughter and son in law. I had the best care I’ve ever had at a dental office. They were amazing from the receptionist to the dentists. I’m afraid of going to a dentist… and they handled a difficult cry baby so well. A 4 hour procedure and the whole time Dr Dougherty and his dental assistant were so nice.
I highly recommend them for any dental needs. big or small!

I’ve had enough prior dental horror experiences to be completely terrified of the dentist now as a grown adult. But EVERYONE here at Dougherty Dental made me feel welcome, cared about, listened to, and at ease. I had some odd teeth situations come up and ended up seeing all three dentists and each one was exceptionally easy to communicate with, respectful, and thorough. All the dental hygienists were extremely gentle and compassionate. I wouldn’t go anywhere for the rest of my life if I wasn’t moving abroad, and actually I’m hoping to coordinate any future dental care with trips back to Portland just to stay with this office. THE BEST.

Don’t even consider going anywhere else. Quality work, awesome people, and fair prices.

If you are looking for a fantastic dentist in the Portland area, Dougherty dental is the place to go! Dental anxiety… not any more! I tend to be a little apprehensive when it comes to dental treatment, as the idea of having a power drill used in my mouth is not at all comforting. As soon as I walked into the office, I felt more at ease. It was clean and calm and the front office staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I was greeted and seated promptly, they didn’t even give me time to glance at the magazine I had brought with me in anticipation of waiting around. I wasn’t stoked to find out that I had two cavities, but was ecstatic when Dr. Andrew fixed them right then and there… no pain or discomfort at all! He was extremely gentle and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire appointment. These guys are top notch dentists and I would recommend them to anyone. No matter which area of Portland you live in, it is worth the drive to check out Dougherty Dental. You will not regret it!

Had my second experience today for a cleaning. Very professional, thorough, and friendly. This is the first dentist I’ve gone to that I have suggested others to check out.

I have visited Dr. Dougherty for a very long time, my grandparents were patients, and my parents are patients, as well (this is a third-​generation family business).
Dr. Dougherty fixed the clicking problem I had with my jaw alignment, and I see Carol for my teeth cleaning. She offers to get the plaque off using three different ways, and I choose the way that works best for me, given my tolerance for having my teeth worked on and how perfect I want my teeth to be afterward.
I strongly recommend Dougherty Dental.

I wanted to take the time to leave a review for Dougherty Dental as my way of saying thanks for the great service. It is so refreshing to have a dentist who clearly cares and takes pride in their work. Dr. Dougherty went up above and beyond by addressing the little things that gave me a huge boost of confidence in my smile. I wanted to say thank you for taking the extra time. I highly recommend these folks.

My entire family (Mom/​Dad, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) I have been patients of Dougherty Dental for over 60 years!!! And my daughter (who has been a patient for 20) has a gorgeous smile as a result of Dr John’s expertise. Oh and he takes credit for that smile (and mine too) everytime he sees us. (LOL) I have a crazy work schedule and Joan (hygenist) is always willing to work with me regarding my cleaning appts. These people are like family to me and I would highly recommend to anyone. Great to know that W.E.‘s legacy lives on in both John and Scott.

GENTLE HANDS and caring manner — that would be my headline about my experiences with Dr. Andrew at Dougherty Dental. Experiences with Dr. John and Dr. Scott have also been great. These professionals know what they are doing and love what they are doing — a great combination. The office staff is friendly, too.
I highly recommend this dental practice. I have been a patient of Dr. John since 1976 and have had the pleasure of recommending him to many over the years. Those I have recommended remain patients today, a true testament to the quality of care. Now the practice has expanded to include Dr. John’s son, Dr. Scott, and Dr. Andrew. These younger dentists are a wonderful addition and bring their current training to augment Dr. John’s years of experience. You couldn’t be in better hands!

Have been coming here since 2008 thanks to my (now) husband. Always professional, knowledgable and helpful to find an appointment that works with my schedule. The front office staff always welcomes me by name and the office is clean and conveniently located. I actually look forward to getting my teeth cleaned which didn’t used to be the case! Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Having tried various dentists in the Portland area, I simply can’t say enough about the service, work product, and pricing at Dougherty Dental. They provide top notch work at an excellent value.
Over the past two years, Dr. Dougherty and Dr. Laybourn have helped me with everything from basic cleanings to a tooth implant. I’m not a fan of going to the dentist, but I always feel comfortable in their office.
The location is remarkably convenient (NW Portland), and they are very flexible about making (and rescheduling) appointments.
