They don’t offer all alcoholic drinks. The boyfriend and I tried to order two AMFs but the bartender said they weren’t allowed to serve strong drinks like that and long islands. Pretty disappointing and never heard that before at a bar anywhere even if it is nearby a sports arena. They had pretty good alternative drinks though. Good service and nice big area

There is no way I could find to contact this bar to ask if my ID was left or found there; It wasn’t even an easy task finding their hours buried on their Facebook page. Super unprofessional and shows that the business doesn’t really care about customer service. I mean come on, posting your operating hours in an easy to find place and having the courtesy of having a phone number that your business can be reached by during operating hours is asking to much? Really?

It’s a place to go to grab a drink of a beer before the start of a basketball game or concert. Really not necessarily a place I would watch a game Or meet up with a group of friends at. Good tap selection and the nachos that I had were actually pretty dang good. Don’t expect to find a seat as tables are limited and it’s a very popular place seeing you could fall from The front door and hit your head on the rose garden(moda center, ew). Surprisingly rival fans from Other sports teams are more than welcome To have drinks here. I will be back for the beers.

You know this place is great if you order your drinks at the bar, paid in full. OK now the rest of the story… The food is expensive and lacks flavor. I have tried several items of the past 2 years and it is always blahhh. It is expensive and a shame to the legacy of Dr Jack. Servers are running all over and it is hard to get service and there never is enough seating. If you want a drink buy it at the bar. If you want food skip it and get food in the Moda Center.

Service great, drinks wayyyyy overpriced — would never go back. Management are idiots!!! Who leaves the garage doors in the front of the building open when it is below 40 outside! When asked — «it’s policy». Morons!

Wouldn’t go back even if you paid me to go. Worst margarita I have ever had cant even describe the taste. Food choices even worse nachos or sliders. We picked the pulled pork nachos. First you get a ice cream scoop of pork on cold chips. They claimed the flavor will be really great, yuck. Cheese and pork were cold it wasn’t large enough for two people to share. So for for 15 bucks for nachos and 22 bucks for drinks we had to go find something else to eat and drink. There so many choices near the rose quarter don’t go here.

My wife and I came to a concert at vets memorial and arrived a little early. So we decided to come to dr. Jacks. Upon entering the atmosphere was really nice. Open seating with outside tables. Our waitress Riane was very nice and I felt the beer selection was great. I recommend if you are in the area waiting for a concert.

Waiting in line for drinks for 25 minutes before a huge concert. The bartenders are so slow it is not even funny. You would think a place this size would prepare for a huge influx of people, but apparently they didn’t get the memo. The waitresses keep trying to sneak past the lines when there is ample room behind us. We get to the bar and they are OUTOFTHEIRSIGNATURECOCKTAIL for the evening(at 7pm), don’t have olives for a martini, and are out of hummus we ordered 45 minutes beforehand. Worst. Place. Ever! First and last time here for sure. We finished our drinks and left.

What a disappointment. Some of the worst service and management I have experienced in Portland. Plus the food was mediocre. Service: We were here for the 10⁄8 Golden State game. We arrived at 5:40PM. Servers were in the area but seemed to intentionally avoid eye contact so that they did not have to take our order. They seemed over whelmed and unable to multitask. It finally took 15 minutes to get someone to take our drink order and only after we waved them over to us from another table. No one ever asked us if we wanted another round. It took over 30 minutes to get half of our food order. The other half never arrived. After waiting another 20 minutes I went looking for our server she seemed surprised and said she would check on it. Of course she never checked on us after taking our initial order. About 15 minutes later one of the items showed up but not the other one. I then searched for our server and again, she seemed surprised. Finally, the last order showed up just before the 7PM tipoff. These were simple dishes consisting of nachos, sliders, chicken wings, and a salad. Management: I twice tracked down our server and asked her to alert a manager to our situation. No one ever came to talk to us. I finally tracked down our server, again, to close our tab so we could see the game. She pointed out two of the managers behind the bar. One would not even address the situation with me and simply turned his back to me. Another one refused to apologize or acknowledge there was a problem. Instead she wanted to focus on my increasing state of agitation. She was rude and arrogant. Food: The Nachos were a waste of money and hardly had any toppings. The sliders were ok but not worth the hour wait. Plus they were not even the correct ones we ordered. The salad was nothing special. Overall, this place is a disgrace to a great name. The problems clearly start with the management team. They have no idea what they are doing and need some serious training in customer service. Attention to quality and detail is also needed. This could be a great place to visit before an event but instead it is just another overpriced mediocre establishment that has poorly trained staff and ineffective managers. The Trailblazer organization should be ashamed of this place and close it down if they can’t do it right. We will not be revisiting this place and will instead visit one of the wonderful nearby establishments that understand customer service and the hospitality industry.

Ordered multiple items. Got some of the items we ordered. Watched a waiter walk around for 10 minutes with our burgers. We tried to get their attention. They tried to pass them off as fresh but they were ice cold. Next time try Red Robin.

The service was terrible. There were not enough chairs per table. They were out of mint for mojitos. and the food was mediocre!

Not a bad place to catch a Blazer game whether you can’t get tickets or it’s a road game. The atmosphere is cool with lots of TVs but if you don’t get lucky to get one of the couch cabana things then you’re stuck with bench tables and seating. Not very comfortable. The menu is pretty sub par. Not many choices and what they do have are pretty spendy. Nachos were pretty small and around 15 dollars. This isn’t the worse spot but there are better places in my opinion to catch a game.

5 stars for effort! It’s almost the end of the 2nd season of Dr. Jacks! It’s been rough. It’s been ugly. It’s been really really bad. But let’s get down to brass tacks shall we? #1 there is no other game in town — meaning there really isn’t any where else to go. Unless you enter the Moda Center before the game. #2 beer is cheaper here — as is the food. Okay. It’s slammed. There isn’t enough seats tables or standing room. Get over it. Join a table! Camp out by a heater. Man up people, it’s Portland, we are friendly here! The servers have a huge area to cover. Be friendly and understanding — it will pay off. Order 2 drinks at a time! Don’t be shy! I love the nachos … Ignore the menu — the servers will make it for you! Love the guac, love the sliders and the $ 10 pizzas are good. Vaporizer for $ 7 is steep but better than that crap lauralwood inside. 4 tall boys for $ 21. Relax people! The servers are trying really hard to serve you! The Moda Center is trying to get enough staff to work 4:30−7 and then 9:30−11 … Sorta hard to staff that if you really think about it. So pull up your big boy or girl panties, be neighborly and share a table! Invite folks to sit with you and crap maybe you will make a Friend! I know I have had more than 1 beer or shot bought for me! Booyah go Blazers!

I’ll give it 4… I mean one has to review a place not compared to all others but partially on expectations and alongside others like it. No… Not fine dining… Why would it be. But… Designed perfectly for the location outside the entrance of the moda center. Staff is friendly and on it… Yet it still feels extremely casual and fun. Prices are above average but again… Location and environment makes it sensible. They did food right for the place,. Limited selection of items premade but solidly good. Quick quasi gourmet. Oh yeah… The craft beers… Perfect set on draft. I could sit and walk through them all prior to an event. Great place to go if you’re going to event and don’t want to fight the traffic… Get here early… Grab a beer and pizza. Hang and walk across when ready… Stress free

I love a lot of things about this place. Namely, the space. There is plenty of standing room on event nights. I also love the garage-door walls that open to give the restaurant an airy, indoor-outdoor feel. Dr. Jack’s has outdoor seating — which you can even do in the winter because of the heat lamps. It’s a bit of a hassle to get a drink on an event night, but… that’s good thing for them because it means the place gets a lot of business(business to make up for on non-event nights). You have to order and pay at the bar, which is okay except when people start shoving their way in front of you to take cuts. That reminds me of Italy and their attitude of survival of the fittest, when it comes to ordering at a counter. That or a scene from the NYSE. My wine-snob friend was very impressed that they carried Alexana. Me? I was just loving the Diablo amber ale. They have food, which looks good, but we never have time to order anything more than a drink. So far, of all the businesses to be in this locale over the years, this is the most space conducive and my favorite.

Last night after I finish shooting at the JT concert, I had it over to do some work and have a cup of coffee here. The staff member that helped me was really nice. But that’s about all the nice things I can say about the place. I walked in and they’re having a staff meeting in the middle of the restaurant and one of the security guards told me they were closed. Beside the point sat down and had a cup of coffee, it has to be the worst cup of coffee I ever had. Not trying to be a coffee snob but it just tasted so bad didn’t know how to get to taste off my lips.

It was ok I have to say. The service was good, but the food was alright. We got two pizzas, and they were probably just as good as microwave pizza. I suggest getting a pizza with toppings on it. It’s convenient to go to after or before the games at the Moda Center. We went after and missed all of the traffic which was nice.

A lot of people seem to have complaints about the food. Well, they obviously aren’t ordering the right thing. The nachos were made in heaven. They are $ 15 and they are piled high with perfectly smoked chicken, and can easily feed 3 – 4 people. We scored a spot on one of the couches. They aren’t the most comfortable things in the world, but this is a bar right? It was a great atmosphere, the next best thing to being inside the arena. The Blazers cheerleaders even made an appearance and took photos with everyone. Overall, an AWESOME place to watch the game and celebrate a win!

My initial review was a bit wordy, so here is what it boils down to: the service was absent from the very day this place opened, and they’ve had plenty of time to adjust to the high-volume crowd density at this place around game time. They haven’t adjusted. The food is mediocre, and the way they have their kitchen set up reflects the quality as such. That said, we only came here a few times before games this year, and we could’ve chosen to go somewhere else. No one is FORCING us to spend our money at Dr. Jack’s, right? Right. We are free to go elsewhere if we want. The point is, if you choose to spend your money here, you know exactly what you’re getting into, and I suppose there is no point in bitching about mediocre-everything when you know what the score’s going to be. The outside seating is obviously the initial draw to this place. I’ll be curious to see if they’ve made some changes when I return this Fall for regular NBA season.
