OMG, second time i have been there, the first time it was nothing to write about they were new and its trial & error, their signiture sandwich was brisket & blue, on a soft bun, butt it did not turn out that way(the first time) it was dry, hard &SMALL, not what you would expect from a art scean place like this, Drinks were ok but i ordered a dirty VODKA martini and got a Gin martini instead. The second time was fanominal the Brisket & Blue was perfect & Garlic fries were to die for i mean GTFO good butt still i got a f’ ing Gin martini and to top it off no Olives! WTF but they saved face and brought me Olive’s on a plate at no charge & a complementry Vodka martini while my dinner party shopped at the art shops defently come here for first friday or just come to «eat» and eat, love this place!!!

Stopped in for Brunch sunday — another great place if you don’t want to wait and deal with a ton of people! Big airy space with lots of seating. I had a fabulous Belgian waffle with mixed berries. It was good and eggy tasting There’s an ‘auditorium’ that looks like an ex-chapel — and Sunday they were showing Tom and Jerry cartoons They’re open OFTEN — I need to make this place a habit!

I liked the space it was great for our two year to roll around we waited for our food. I had the pork sliders they were delish! We actually stopped by on a first Friday and didn’t realize they would have the rest of place open to check out the art, it had a wonderful vibe and some good art, I am looking forward to heading back.

We liked it! Friendly staff, tasty eats, comfortable space, and super kid friendly. We went for brunch, had a scramble and a waffle, and both were delicious.

First Friday at this place! It’s an interesting venue. It’s located at the bottom of the building that holds about 77 artists, an art colony. This is a very common model in Europe. This is the very first one here in the states and it is an experiment. At any rate, we wanted to have a meal before we headed in to this remarkable place to see all the wonderful artists’ work. Got me a snapper sandwich on focaccia with lemon/cilantro aioli. The fish was fresh, focaccia, a little chewy, the aioli was subtle. The restaurant needs to work out a few kinks back in the kitchen. I «think»? that there’s volunteers working at the restaurant that might live in the building. not sure, but I think they were all part of this cool art community.

I was here while tagging along with friends for the open studio show. The building is really cool and seems like it was an old school? It has that WW2 era feel to it in the hallways and upper levels. We decided to grab some food here when happy hour began at 10. Unfortunately, they were sold out of all of the sandwiches so I ordered the garlic fries. They were ok. I think that they smelled better than they tasted. I had also ordered a bloody mary, but they had run out of the pre-mixed stuff from the daytime and whipped one together. It was horrible so I took it back. Apparently the bartender was expecting it since it wasn’t their aforementioned pre-mix. But he was quick and willing to make me any replacement drink and a complimentary beer for my friend. The replacement drink wasn’t anything to write home about, but I was impressed with their willingness to provide satisfaction to the customers. I’m sure that this place is excellent. My first experience was ‘eh’. I’d love to go back for lunch or happy hour again sometime in the future and hopefully provide a higher review when I do have a chance to sample more of the eats!

I’m still not sure what to think about the whole E.A.T. experience. It was a different experience for me, but that shouldn’t be a bad thing. It wasn’t. Maybe by the time I’m finished typing this review I will have a better understanding as to what this place is all about. Probably not, but we should have some hope. I hadn’t ever heard of(nor probably ever would have) E.A.T. before I got an e-mail a week or two ago from a friend mentioning she might be heading out here for their first Friday art event. Looking at their website I saw that there was food along with the art and where there is food there is dan h. First art though. Finding the entrance to E.A.T. was our first challenge upon arriving. It really isn’t on NE81st. It is actually on Oregon. We took a nice stroll around the campus(?) and finally found our way inside. It shouldn’t have been this difficult. Once inside, we wandered around the building to look at some of the A part that was being presented on this evening. Browsing around I got the sense that I was back in college and that I was wandering around someones dorm. It was a feeling I couldn’t shake at all. Granted these were hallway carpeted dorms, but I’ve been out of college for quite sometime now. Maybe carpeted dorms are the norm these days. Anyway, some of the art was quite dark. There was one piece that comes to mind that was named Shirts, Skins, Weiners, Pee. You can let your imaginations run wild on that one. It still makes me uncomfortable to think about it. After browsing around the art floors and working up a small appetite, we decided to head down to the E part of the experience. It was after 10 and after 10 on a Friday evening is happy hour. Never a bad thing. The menu looked pretty good, but we came to find out they were out of a few of the things on the happy hour menu. That was disappointment #1. The smell of garlic coming from the kitchen grabbed ahold of myself and another friend and we both had an order of the garlic fries. I had a beer along with that and she had a bloody mary. As my friend said and as I think about it more sitting here and typing this, the garlic smell made you think these fries would be amazing. They were only ok. Nothing spectacular at all, but for $ 3 on hh, you could do worse. Her Bloody Mary on the other hand was awful and that was disapointment #2. She brought it back up and they gave her a gin and tonic and a free beer which another friend ended up drinking. That was awfully nice of them to do. Still seems they are working out the service kinks as well here. I know this place has only been open a few months. Looks like they are still going through their growing pains. I’m sure it will get there with time. Give it to them.

What a great little place just a few blocks from me. A nice little eatery in the MilePost 5 artist colony. I was there just today, but can’t wait for brunch tomorrow. They offer brunch every day from 9 – 3. They have have wonderful looking sandwiches, great looking salads. They also offer a happy hour. Wil have to try the mac and cheese, blackened snapper and the pork sliders. they even have gluten free granola. Definitely a stop on my way home. check it out. While you are there, check it out the first friday every month and see the great work the different artists do. Who needs the hoity-toity areas when there are good artists and food and a little bar just in the ‘hood.

Being that I work upstairs from EAT I have been there quite a few times. The sweet brioche french toast with a side of bacon is probably my favorite but the falafel, pulled pork sandwich, and brisket and blue are excellent and my kids LOVE the mac and cheese. This restaurant is just what Montavilla needs!
