Ecodrycleaner

Mediocre at best. I’ve been going here for years and keep going because I don’t have any good alternative options close to where I live. They claim they are eco-​friendly but I get plastic every single time I pick up my clothes even though my account states «no plastic.» Last time I asked about it, they blamed it on their service provider. Hows that for accountability? Their store front got rammed by a car about six months ago and they have yet to replace the carpet in their store. I asked if they could repair a sleeve on a nice jacket I had and when I went to pick it up, it hadn’t been repaired. The lady at the counter couldn’t tell me if they had tried and it didn’t work or if they just completely forgot about it. I need to find a new place.

My experience with Eco Dry Cleaners was so poor and disappointing. I had a formal dress I needed to promptly get cleaned and thought that I had struck gold with a cleaner that claims to use less toxic chemicals and offers free pick-​up and delivery. So I attempted to sign up online and received no response. So, I called a few days later to see what was up and the person there said a manager would call me and get me squared away. No call. I really needed to get my dress cleaned by a certain date so I decided I would just drive there and drop it off (had to wake a sleeping baby in the car to make that happen-​my choice I know just unfortunate timing). When I went in to drop it off, the person working was on her phone when I came though promptly addressed me. I though this might be a good time to give feedback about their lack of response with the online system thinking they might help me get set up and she cut me off and just wanted to process my drop off. So, I did, pointing out a few spots I was hoping they could remove. She gave me a ticket with my pick up date. I came back on my pick up date and there was a customer ahead of me incidentally being told their clothes were not ready for pick up. Immediately, I had a feeling that she was going to say the same thing to me. And she did. I would have to come back again the next day after 4:30. Refusing to drive in rush hour a second time, I just came in the morning on another day. Time lost, sitting in traffic needlesslly and she said they couldn’t even get the spots out. So, the whole process was completely pointless. A week and a half later I got an email welcoming me to Eco Drycleaners. No thanks! I never use drycleaners anyway and now I know why. This was especially a terrible experience. No acknowledgement, no accountability on online fail or late delivery. Essentially three wasted trips. I wish I had read reviews on here before trying them out.

This is THE WORST. I have been a customer for years, but there have been one too many missed deliveries and crappy service. I am currently missing hundreds of dollars worth of clothes from this place, from two recent pick-​ups, and they claim that they delivered it all. They have not. I now have to resort to small claims court to try to get our stuff back or at least compensated. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE HAVE YOUR CLOTHES.

I moved in to the neighborhood near this place about a year ago, and have probably dropped off five or six loads of clothing to be cleaned. For what it’s worth, they’re a decent cleaner. They’re not always 100% careful with buttons or creases, but they haven’t ruined any of my stuff. That said, they lost my business today.
I dropped off some clothes last week, and when I did I came in with an email coupon for 15% off. They said I should bring it in when I paid, so I thought nothing of it. However when I picked up my clothes today they said the coupon, which was STILL FRAMED ON THEIR COUNTER, was no longer valid. When I said I’d been told last week to bring it with me when I paid, they said that was a mistake, and then took the coupon off the counter, put an X through it with a pen, and put it back up in front of me. No apology. So I grumbled, but said fine, and went to use a Chinook Book coupon instead. Then they told me I had to present Chinook Book coupons at the time of drop off, not pick up.
At this point I paused, and then said that it almost seemed like they were engaging in deliberately deceptive practices to avoid having to honor their own coupons. I acknowledge that this wasn’t very politic on my part, but I was pretty disappointed in the way I was being treated by the place I’d come to think of as my neighborhood dry cleaner — and one that uses green cleaning products at that. The only response I got was literally a dead stare. So I took my clothes, and I left. I won’t be returning.

I only wish I had read the other reviews before bringing my things to this dry cleaners. The first thing that went wrong was that the bag I left with my two comforters in them was lost, after being told to leave it there, that it would be returned with the comforters. I went through numerous rounds of phone calls with the employees, letting me know what their managers/​bosses were going to do, and the end result was that they would give me a store credit. No thanks. All I wanted back was my bag or an equivalent one. Seemed pretty simple to me. Then, once I opened the bags with the comforters, I found them smelling like mildew. I’m so disgusted and disappointed. I only hope more people are forewarned with the other horrible reviews they are getting and choose to go somewhere else.

Beware! The Eco Dry Cleaner on NE Broadway is horrible! They ruined my wife’s new dress with a mysterious stain on the dress front that will not come out. Never been worn before! A follow-​up call from an employee explained that the manager and company absolved themselves of all responsibility, and suggested we call the dress manufacturer (read below for a similar review of EDC). Next stop: the Better Business Bureau!!!

I have been using this particular cleaners for some time now, I cant be more satisfied! I’m off work late most of the time and in a drowsy mood but the young girl here is always bubbly and upbeat great customer service!

A $ 5 fee for pet hair. Seriously? In pet-​friendly Portland that doesn’t seem to be the best way to retain business. You’ve definitely lost mine. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

I have been going here for years and love it! A bit more $, but worth it.

All I needed was two zippers to be replaced in two separate dresses. After telling me that the dresses weren’t ready on the original date of when my service was to be completed, it has now been a month and I have STILL not heard back from the Eco Dry Cleaner on 30^th and Broadway.
Today I called and they said, «Oh, it looks as though the dresses are here and ready.» That’s all fine and well, thanks for forgetting to let me know, and I don’t want to ‘kill the messenger’, but after requesting some sort of consolation for their lack of service (which I feel should have been offered in the first place without me having to ask), all the manager would offer is $ 5 off. That’s bullsh*t if you ask me.
Never going back.

Dry cleaning only tags basically do not exist on any of my clothes. That’s one of my rules when shopping for clothing. And, if I do end up seeing a tag I basically ignore it and chance the washing instead. Mostly, that works. I do not, however, wash my queen goose down comforter. I do know someone that actually puts theirs in a bathtub and goes through wrestling with all those goose feathers but that’s not my thing. So, I go here a few times a year. It comes out clean and it does not have a chemical smell, and I feel pretty good about sleeping with it all wrapped up around me without thinking I might get cancer from all the carcinogenic products that other non eco dry cleaners use.

This place is a scam. They pull you in wiht the ECO label and then not only ruin a sweater, but they take no responsibility and repeatedly tell me they are going to call me about it, but nobody rang for two weeks. The woman at the front desk sure is grumpy too!

This makes me sad to write this. This business was so amazing a couple of years ago. Sadly as previous reviews indicate they no longer seem to clean throughly and they lost a $ 100 gray blazer of mine. I understand that small business can’t afford to just up money, but since I was client for 4+ years and have probably spent several $ 1000s on their services over the years you would think they could afford to give me a credit on my account or something to offer some compensation for a jacket.

Where do all those dry cleaning solvents go? They go into the ground water, that’s where. Then the EPA shows up, a couple decades too late of course, and your little municipality has to issue a multi-​millon dollar bond to cover the cost of a water purification system to clean up the drinking water. So really, your dry cleaning bill isn’t $ 22.50, but rather $ 22,522.50.
Eco Dry Cleaner has a great system. You walk in and dump your stuff on the counter. They ask a few questions, and you provide a few answers. They give you a laundry ticket, and you leave.
When you return, you give them the laundry ticket and they push a button and all the laundry takes a ride on the carousel — it looks fun. When your stuff is done with the ride, they bring it — all nice and clean.
But the best part of the whole deal is that you don’t have to build a multi-​million dollar water purification plant.

Why is it so hard to find a good dry cleaners?

Minus one star for their prices.
Minus one star for the smell? possibly the chemical, possibly BO of the employees… I’m not sure. Sometimes it smells like ass and sometimes it smells fine.
Plus one star for the hours. They seem to be the only cleaners in the area open past six.
Minus two stars for refusing to press my fitted shirts. They insist that its too small for their machines and have to be hand pressed. Thus costing twice the price and they didn’t tell me any price difference when i dropped off, or when they realized that they couldn’t press them at the regular price, they hand pressed them anyway and when i picked them up, I charged again for the difference. every other dry cleaner has been pressing my fitted shirts just fine. …and I suppose they will continue to do so because I shall not be coming back here again.

I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the service and quality of this location. I have been a customer here for years and they haven’t skipped a beat. Also, the fact that they use environmentally-​safe solutions and do a number of other great things to be «green» is very impressive for such a «toxic» industry. After learning more about the chemicals I will never use a traditional dry cleaner again. They use BAD stuff! I am definitely going to continue to recommend this place to my family and friends!

I recently dropped a jacket off for cleaning at an ecodrycleaner location. It was my first interaction with the business and I won’t be back. The jacket was ready on-​time. Other than that:
1. None of the stains on the garment were actually removed.
2. I was over-​charged for the cleaning.
3. A cycling cap I left zipped in one of the pockets of the jacket was lost during the cleaning. Messages sent in an attempt to locate the hat were not returned.
Bottom line, find another environmentally conscious cleaner for your garments.

Just found this place (why is it so hard to find dry cleaners in this city??). Love the fact that they’ve got the whole eco-​friendly drycleaning where they don’t use the terrible chemicals and very impressed with how my dress shirts came back (all missing shirt stays were replaced along with a couple buttons on my shirts). The only thing I can say that might be negative is that they seem to add a bunch of plastic tabs and unnecessary packaging around the shirts. I’ll definitely be going back.

We really like to support this place because it’s eco-​friendly and dry cleaning chemicals are pretty nasty. The service has always been friendly. We started going to the one on Hawthorne, then discovered the location on Broadway was more convenient.
The only problem is that the last three times I tried to go, during varying business hours, there was a note taped to the locked door saying «back in five minutes.» The fact that it happened multiple times to me shows me that they are using this unprofessional technique a lot. Once we didn’t wait, and two other times we waited a short while before someone opened the door and greeted us. Very inconvenient. I hope to come back and give this place a higher rating soon!
