Avoid the veggie burrito. Most taco trucks can make a heavenly vegan burrito by giving you their veggie burrito without cheese. Not this place, apparently. It was all cabbage and none of the guac that was promised.

Very good little cart! Panuchos are the specialty but there are other typical Mexican items as well(tacos, burritos, etc). The panuchos are amazing with the rest of the menu being average or above. If the rest of the menu were as good as the panuchos I’d give them a 5. Price is also right at this place, a food cart actually charging food cart prices.

I had the panuchos at luch today and dang, they are ah-maayyyy-zing! Off the charts. I’ve never had anything quite like it. The food truck was at my work but I am going to try to find the truck on other days. Worth it!

You know you’re having a great Monday when a taco truck unexpectedly pulls up outside your office. Usually we get the food truck folks here on Fridays when I’m not working so I always miss out. Today my little Lean Cuisine lunch can stay parked in the freezer. I’ll get to you tomorrow. The menu was a little sparse, but my chicken tacos on homemade corn tortillas were supremely delicious. Cabbage, gobs of chicken, tomatoes and a sprinkling of cheese were just the way I like ‘em. I hope these guys make a habit of showing up here at my J.O.B. regularly because tacos are always a good way to keep me happy at work. 2015 — Review # 87

I’ll be super honest, I’m not a fan of food trucks. BUT it’s one of those Portland things & I was with a friend who wanted to do the food truck thing so I did. I chose this one because they had a vegetarian option & most of the others were all kinds of barbeque that I could not eat. At about $ 7 for one burrito it was a bit pricier then I’d like but it was very delicious so aside from that I enjoyed it considering my lack of enthusiasm towards food trucks. More then that the man working the food truck was very friendly. In my experience food workers in Portland are snobbish & on a good day normal at best so the fact that this dude was super friendly was a major plus. If you’re doing the food truck thing in PDX I would recommend this one! :-)

The carnitas was perfect – crispy and still soft and well seasoned. Best burrito I’ve had in a long time.

The tacos and cheese quesadilla were quite tasty. Will be going here more often when in the area!

The food here is amazing! So amazing in fact that I had them cater my luncheon and my co-workers were going back for seconds and thirds which never happens! Thanks for making me look good!

These fabulous tacos, and the wonderful coffee cart next door, are the main two reasons, besides my family, that I ever miss Portland. Can’t beat the price and the quality of the food is outstanding! I would teleport to this cart daily if it were possible. Tacos and coffee. The best mixture in the world!!! The map pictured next to this is incorrect. I am leaving a review for the taco stand between the Dumpling Truck and the best coffee in Portland.

El Taco Yucateco has this beaner’s seal of approval. Try the panuchos: basically a chicken tostada with black refried beans instead of pinto beans. I didn’t come all the way to Portland to eat tacos, but I can’t pass up good looking food. They also have tortas, burritos, and tortilla bowls. It is currently between the dumpling truck and a coffee stand(which serves some awesome lemonade btw).

Great price, light on rice and beans, big on meat and avacado. Also, the hot sauce is real tasty. This is going to become a regular.

Can’t believe how good the pork is here! Try anything with pork and you’ll be happy. Best habenero salsa in town, not for sissies. There should be a line to the corner for his foods. I think people are slightly nervous because the menu is Yucatan not traditional Mexican fare, but rest assured if Mexican food is your thing you’ll be happy here. Ninth and Alder next to Nongs!

This food cart is all out on its own away from the central food cart block, but it’s well worth the walk! I got a steak burrito delivered super quickly, and the steak was a little bit on the salty side, but the rice was fresh and clean to balance it. The best part though was the cabbage slaw, which was crisp, tangy and sweet, and very different from your typical burrito-to-go. And for a smooth $ 5.50, I’m craving it all over again. The guy was nice and friendly too, and seemed to be running a great one-man operation.

Four Mexican carts in the SW10th/Alder pod(where this cart now resides)… I’ve eaten at all of them and El Taco Yucateco is the place to be. Amazing pork: tacos, burritos, fajitas, whatever. Get the pork. I’d try something else but I can’t pull myself away from the pork. So good! Super nice guy, too. Can’t recommend this cart highly enough. Delicious!

Taco salad bigger than my head, and I ate the entire thing! I couldn’t stop. The tortilla bowl is fried when you order it, and it’s perfectly crispy and chewy, yet somehow not greasy. The chicken has delicious flavor, and all of the veggies are fresh. Get it with avocado because everything is better with avocado. The horchata is fresh and perfectly sweet(not too sweet). One tip for finding this cart — it’s located on the Stark side of the pod.

I don’t like to be too liberal with the 5 star reviews, but El Taco Yucateco deserves every single one, and thensome. I dare you to find a cart downtown with fresher vegetables, spicier hot sauce, and more delectable meat. Can’t be done. Yucateco is king! I could eat their panuchos every day of my life and die happy(and full! Two of these is a perfect lunch).

This food cart has moved to the 3rd and Stark food cart pod, and wow, do I feel lucky that they are so near my work! When I saw that the tacos had cabbage, not lettuce, I knew I was in for a treat, and the food did not disappoint. The panuchos, as others have mentioned, are awesome, but the pork tacos are omg delicious. A corn tortilla, seared on the grill, and topped with shredded, moist, flavorful pork, finely shredded cabbage, and red onion is about as good as it gets. This is not your average Americanized«Mexican» food. This is food that wouldn’t get you beat up if you tried to sell it in that country to the south, whatever its name is. From the tacos to the tamales, you can’t go wrong. Do yourself a favor and go there before the lines form.

Came here on a friends recommendation a couple weeks back and had the Panucho. The Panucho is filled with black beans, shredded chicken, pickled onions, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and cabbage, over a fried corn tortilla. Presentation is very colorful as for the pliability of the tortilla it was a little difficult but after eating the first one you get used to it fairly quickly. The flavors are very symphonic on your taste buds as the more you eat into it the more difficult it is to want to stop because its so good! I am very impressed with this guys work considering he does all this work basically in a box trailer converted to a miniature kitchen. You can see the passion in his work and his smile he truly loves what he does. I would definitely recommend this place if you love hole in the wall mexican joints. Pricepoint is very reasonable and for a few dollars you can get yourself a fairly filling meal. Happy Eating Everyone!

Walking up to the cart, you can tell this is Elloy’s passion. He’s always smiling and happy to serve anyone who comes by. I sampled a shrimp ceviche, placed on a fried corn tortilla. For added kick, I could add some of his cart-made habanero sauce. Delicious and explosive. The habanero sauce bites back, but the diehard chileheads will still appreciate all that wonderful flavor. The perfectly fried corn tortilla is extremely stiff and gave a great textural contrast to the dish. It felt like I was eating a gigantic chip with shrimp salsa. Arguably, one of Elloy’s best dishes is the panucho, filled with black beans, shredded chicken, onions, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and cabbage. Again, it appears to be a fried corn tortilla or shell of some sort. This one, however, was pliable to pick up like a taco. This was also great, refreshing in its own way with a pile of fresh produce. Awesome shredded chicken. Beautiful presentation. I heard from Todd at the neighboring Olé Latte Coffee cart that Elloy wanted to challenge me on how well I handle my spice. Elloy would be getting some fresh ghost peppers and making a spicy purée for some of his dishes. He mentioned a scrumptious salad that would be the perfect canvas for this one. I look forward to it! Oh, and Elloy has gargantuan-sized tostada bowls! Can you imagine the Aaron-sized taco salad that can be made? That edible bowl is literally the size of Elloy’s head! I’ll be back to this cart real soon!
