I am new to Portland and so put off getting my hair done for far too long. In came Heather at Enhance to save the day! She was very friendly and professional and great to work with.
I brought in a photo-​inspiration for my color and she hit it spot on. The honey highlights and lowlights look great with my complexion and I have received many compliments. I also got a trim while I was there, which looks great and feels so fresh.
I can’t recommend Heather enough, go see her! I know I will definitely be back.

I just got my hair done by Kris and she did such a great job. I waited almost a year and a half to get my hair done because the last lady completely butchered my hair but Kris restored it back to its full potential! I would definitely recommend Kris and this salon and I will for sure be back.

I thought it pretty important to share my recent experience at Enhance despite being a virgin Unilocal reviewer. I’m newish to Portland (hi, I’m sorry so on etc.) and was looking for a salon to put down roots (key words being put down and not screw up). I booked a late appointment with Cristina Cayton, who was really sweet and accommodating to my ever-​changing schedule.
I showed up to Enhance with my natural brown hair almost fully grown out and wanting a change. I was leaning towards going blonde, but was still not fully ready to give up being a brunette. Cristina and I discussed this and decided to go with some blonde highlights that would be halfway between blonde and brunette and make it easy for me to go blonder or back to brown if I didn’t like it (although in her words I would like it). The words «natural looking» and «subtle» where also thrown in the mix. What came out of that mix was uneven highlights in several different colors, including what appeared to be a whiteish blonde that looked green in some light. It was kind of brutal.
I’m a fairly easy-​going person and found the situation rather comical because my hair either looked like Rachel Greene in Season 2 of Friends or I like I did my own highlights with the long-​lost cap method. I was extra thankful for hat season for 3 days until I I traveled to my hometown for Christmas and got my hairdresser friend to fix it (which took him 5 hours and a lot of jokes). I get that the holiday season is busy and stressful for hairdressers and she may have been 100% over the day when a new client came in confused about going blonde or staying a brunette, but the output was a bit ridiculous and I won’t be back.

I trusted Unilocal reviews and wasn’t disappointed. Cool atmosphere, cool people. Heather did a great job, she was also really funny and kept checking in with me throughout the process.

There are good stylists and then there are great stylists, like Kammie Lee. She can do any type of hair because she understands hair and all its eccentricities. Kammie rescued and transformed my thick, crazy curly hair into a fabulous cut that is also low maintenance. For me, that’s a huge plus. And because she is an artist with color, I always get compliments on that, as well.
She can do trendy or classic cuts. Kammie takes time to listen to your concerns and offers suggestions. I’m past that point– I totally trust her to do her artistry, and she does!

My haircut was a last-​minute affair with Heather, and she was great! My hair DESPERATELY needed help, as it was quite dead at the ends… Heather was kind, courteous, and made sure I left with a great cut. I will definitely be looking up Enhance again!

I avoided getting my hair cut for well over a year because I was so nervous to find a new stylist after moving to Portland from across the country. Let me just tell you, Lucy rocked it.
She listened to my concerns, went over some pictures with me, and laughed through all my horror stories. She asked how I usually wear it, my styling routine, and what products I was using. She really took the time to get to know me and my hair — and that showed in the final product. She walked me through different ways of styling my hair and shared with me some tips related to mistakes I’d been making with my curly hair and better ways to get the same results. It’s been a few weeks since my appointment and it just keeps getting better.
I highly recommend Lucy!

I went to Lucy for help changing my hair color from a high maintenance blonde w/​highlights to something closer to my natural dark brown color that would still look good but with less obvious roots when it grows out. She was very knowledgeable about which tones would work and put me at ease right away! I ended up getting a cool ombré style very hip yet easy to maintain, and I love it! I also like the fact that this salon has a convenient parking lot in a popular area where finding off the street parking can sometimes be difficult!

I am new to Portland and was worried about finding a new studio for my haircut needs. I can’t say enough positive things about Lucy. Not only is she knowledgeable but her goodness of character comes out in your hair. I’ve never been happier. Book with Lucy.

I moved to Portland from NYC where I was seeing the same stylist for my hair for the last 8 years. I’ve been stressing out because I’ve tried several different salons in Portland, but no stylist could achieve the look I wanted without using a flat iron or curling iron. I checked out the reviews on Unilocal for Beth and decided I would give Enhance a try.
I am absolutely in love with my hair and I love how Beth really took the time to get to know my hair before jumping in. She sat me in the chair and combed my hair, felt the texture, the length, and asked me what I wanted. I showed her a picture of my hair after my NYC stylist did it. I’m sure I made Beth nervous because I was talking a little shit about the stylists I’ve encountered since being here, but she did such a lovely job. And she did it only using a blow dryer and round brush which is the right way to do it folks! I will definitely be going back to see BETH!

Love it! Beth Hoar has done my hair twice now. I love the pixie cut she just gave me! She’s fun and chatty and cuts my hair right. The price is great, and she’s right across the street from my work. She was super late the first time, and not late the second. I gave her a second chance because the aforementioned things are so good. You can schedule with her (or others) online. Enough said.

Just got my hair did today by beth hoar and i love it! Got my hair chopped off for the first time and am very satisfied with the cut and color, i think i will be going back again for sure.

Heather just took my hair from an uneven, fuzzy mess to cohesive, healthy layers. After explaining what I wanted long term, she gave advice on the best length and worked on getting the over-​cut front to tie in with the back layers. I appreciated her taking the time to really get a good idea of what I was looking for.
My hair feels amazing and is falling in a much more flattering way around my face.

Nothing shocks and delights me more, than when I take a chance on trying out a stylist, out of the blue, and they perform nothing short of a tonsorial act of divine mercy. Heather did just that! I showed up with an ugly-​all-​day, manky, powerbleached, unimaginative-​hairdresser-​abused Prince Valiant bob which made me feel desperately hideous. After showing Heather what I wanted my hair to grow back out to, she proceeded to masterfully create a style I can work with and enjoy while I wait for length to return.
It’s been years since I’ve walked out of a salon happy and excited to return. Thank you for that, Heather!

Lucy Sami is a goddess hair dresser! I moved to Portland about a year ago and was having the hardest time finding a stylist that would actually listen to me and execute my cut and color properly. About my 5^th hair dresser in, I finally found her — Lucy Sami. She has exceeded both my girlfriend and I’s standards. After multiple overly satisfied visits, I left the chair with a cut and color I wasn’t exactly expecting. She understood the problem and took notice in her mistake, she worked out a deal with me and stuck to her solid five star quality! But not only does she cut and style perfectly, she will give you style advice for your hair. Her prices are great and she has a bank saving discount for you students. Plus she is fun to talk too.

Betty took me from an unintentional ombré to fabulous again. In her words, «Girl, those ain’t roots no mo’… they’re stumps!!» She took my sad, sad hair, brought in some bright highlights and a warm chocolate blonde lowlight, and gave me hair I can actually live with. She listened to my situation and knew that I wouldn’t be able to come back every 8 – 12 weeks for a cut and color, so she gave me something that would look good as it grew out. I’ve never had a stylist understand what I need without me even saying the words!
Betty isn’t afraid to give you her honest opinion on what would look best on you. Takes her time to give you the best experience possible. I highly recommend her and the Enhance Salon.
Note to the wise: book early on
. She books almost a month in advance and there is nothing worse than realizing you needed a visit to your stylist yesterday and not being able to book an appointment.

Betty — she tells you the straight 411 such as «hey you’re not gonna get to blonde blonde in one visit» and I appreciate that — I recently had her add some ‘light’ into my dark — it came out honey/​caramel toned and I love it. Her scissor skills are excellent — I have very thin/​fine hair and we work with it to make me look like I have more hair than I do. This is not an easy task!
Betty also cuts my husband’s hair and does a great job working with his funky bits that point all directions.
We had her to our wedding hair as well — loved it! I am praying Betty never leaves PDX as I cringe at the thought of having to find a new stylist… especially one as talented and sweet as Betty.

Beth is amazing. I went in with practically virgin hair asking for a full head of pink and orange and blonde and did exactly what I asked for. I could not be happier! Thank you Beth!!!

I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored by Beth Hoar at Enhance for two years and have consistently had a great experience. Beth does a great job with my very thick, very curly hair and has helped me grow it out and find the right color.
On my last visit, we added some very subtle copper highlights that I love. I like the convenience of being able to book online and Beth has been amazing about accommodating last minute requests for emergency cut and colors.
The salon in general is fun, has great music, and even offers a glass of wine or beer.

My entire family comes to see Betty regularly, from my husbands clean conservative cut to my edgy color to my daughters long hair. The shop is clean, upbeat and everyone is friendly. I appreciate that I can make our appointments online (
) where I can match up times with our busy schedule or I can book at the end of my appointment on my way out.
They have a lot of good options for products at decent prices. You can tell all of the stylists get along there because there is always a great energy and lots of laughter. There is always fun music and beer and wine too!
It’s great having off street parking in their lot next to Matador so I don’t have to drive in circles.
