A HIDDENGEMOFANESPRESSOBAR!!! This little family owned and operated coffee stand is run out of a vintage Milk Truck on Mount Tabor at SE69th just off Belmont(I’m not sure why the address says 68th on here… maybe they’ve moved over a block?) The owners, Bethany and Hamilton, will make you — and your dog — immediately feel like old friends. The coffee is amazing(all French pressed and locally roasted). I feel like the are handing me a piece of their heart with every cup. And… BESTMEXICANMOCHASINTOWN! I don’t know how they do it, but they make the foam at the top into a kind of light velvety chocolatey mousse — heaven! They are open until 4pm on the weekends — which gives me plenty of time to travel across town for their coffee. EG — move to NE!

There’s a new-ish little espresso truck up on Mt. Tabor, in the oddest of spots on 68th, and they’re serving up coffee from Cardinal Coffee(seemingly roasted by the owner’s husband or otherwise relative(same last name) in the form of espresso, french press, and similar. This little shop closes up every day at 1pm, and being a creature of the night, I never really had a chance to stop in and try it out. Finally today I made it in. The owners are friendly, the neighborhood is quiet, the beans are roasted locally, but most importantly, the coffee is good. Since I’ve only had one cup of the French Press so far, I’m withholding the penultimate star until I can try out some more. At first glance, however, this seems to be in the upper echelon of coffee in Portland. Toss in some pastries from Petite Provence, and you have a winner. Find yourself off the beaten path and check this truck out.
