Family Hair Cuts

Full disclosure, I am a human male who does not color his hair. I cannot speak to the experience of women, individuals looking for coloring, or non-​humans in my review of this establishment.
With that out of the way, I would like to give my glowing endorsement of Family Hair Cuts, a nondescript hole-​in-​the-​wall shop on N Lombard. It’s the only place in town that has consistently given a quick, high-​quality haircut at a reasonable price.
This place is in no way convenient for me… I don’t live or work anywhere near here. I still make an effort to get my hair cut here because it’s that good. I urge all human males to do the same.

I would of gave one star but she was very nice and friendly so she gets an extra star. One star because she cut about $ 200 worth of my ombré off. Before I came in my hair touched the back of my elbows. I asked her to cut 2 – 3 inches off, thought that wouldn’t hurt even if more was cut because how could you mistake more than 3 inches and showed her a picture of the length and style. I also asked the lady (who had longer hair than me and it was in a pony tail, you think she’d understand people who also have long hair) to NOT thin out my thick hair. I closed my eyes for a few mins, trusting her and just plain thinking she’d do what I asked, NOPE! My long hair is now at shoulder length awkward stage with choppy layers and she thinned out about 70%. It took me 5 years to grow my hair from chin length. Parts of my new do are chin length and some parts neck length now. The blunt ends stab my neck making them itch. I tired to curl my hair to make myself look somewhat of a woman, I burnt myself 3x because I can only get 3 inches of hair on the iron. I’m super disappointed. I thought I made things pretty clear, there’s for sure a language barrier. She totally went to town on my hair. I will never go back to this place again. You get what you pay for, if you’re a guy you’re in the okay. I don’t recommend women to get their hair done here at all! Also, she doesn’t clean or sanitize supplies between customers, she sweeps the floor and calls it good and cuts hair in flip flops! If you don’t mind that she uses the same cape on the last 20 people before you this is your place. I don’t even know if she even washes the thing at the end of the day. Don’t get sick!

Cheap place to get a great men’s haircut. The barber is very friendly and quick. But she does a good job in cutting your hair the way you want it.

Cheap quick guys hair cuts. It’s pretty wham bam thank you man kind of place, but if all you need is a gentleman’s haircut…

Fast, friendly service at an affordable price. Good hair cuts too. What more could you ask for?
They don’t offer beer there with your haircut, but I don’t go to the barber to get a beer and hang out. I want to get in and out, if I want a beer I’ll go next door to Darcy’s.
