Yum. I have tried possibly all of their vegan dishes and I love them. I prefer to order without rice for full flavor and don’t miss the hot«sauce» they serve which is really some kind of nutty/earthy pepper in oil. The spinach curry(rich, creamy) and eggplant(great texture, bright flavor) are probably my favorite but I am also a big fan of their dal.

Jackfruit curry here is great. Samosas and small but filling, I actually prefer them to the larger, doughier ones at Bollywood theater. And it was be said again– the owner is super friendly, even bringing out a trio of spicy chutneys for us to try.

We visited today for a late lunch & enjoyed two generous plates of vegan Indian food. While we both preferred the Jackfruit Curry, the Okra Curry was also flavored & seasoned well, without being soaked in oil. There is perhaps twice the portion of rice compared to the portion of the main menu-named ingredient, but for the price(plates were $ 6.50 apiece), the plates are plentiful. The owner was very gracious & appreciative. We’ll be back.

I absolutely love Fiji Indian Curry! It’s on my short list of rotating lunches. I’m vegan and they have tons of clearly marked options. My favorites are the Green Bean Curry, Veggie Stir Fry and Pumpkin Curry. The samosas are amazing and they recently added vegan naan! THAT’S RIGHT — VEGANNAAN!(Make sure you specify vegan, because I believe they offer a non-vegan version as well.) And the portions are massive! Even when I’m eating there, I get it in a To Go box because I can only eat half. And if my raving about the food isn’t enough to make you check them out, the service is out of this world! The owners are come of the nicest folks around and seem truly grateful for the business.

Good homely Indian meal. Finally got a jack fruit curry! It was a good dish and their lentil and rice was super tasty. I will come back for their lentil and roti rolls, pumpkin curry and chilli pickle which got over last time. I am so glad that they are serving authentic home style Indian food which is so simple, healthy and delicious.

Only been here once(today) but I was impressed. Two huge portions of tasty food for 14 bucks! And not just cheap – good, too. I had the Chana Curry. Garbanzo beans, etc. Vegan. Damn good! The owner was super nice, came out to ask if we liked the food. Gave us a little container of some awesome hot peppers from Fiji. Yum. They were the consistency of dried tomatoes in oil. Nice and HOT! I love spicy food. To me they were easy. Ate ‘em all. But if you are a spicy lightweight, they might get to you. Guess I’ll have to go back a few more times to check out the consistency factor, but first impressions… YES. I’ve been to Bollywood down the street. It’s good, but you have you have to pay 5 dollars for one spoonful of chana masala. Go check out Fiji Indian Curry. Nice, clean, simple street-food. Totally authentic goodness.

I’m certain this is the same curry cart I visited at the 23rd-Alberta food pod last year, but just under a different name. The menu options here are fairly healthy, with numerous vegan options to choose from. There are also meat, chicken, and seafood options as well. I got the Pumpkin Curry($ 6.50), a vegan curry cooked with pureed pumpkin, ginger, garlic, yellow onion, and their homemade curry mix. It’s served with dhal(a type of lentil stew) over a bed of basmati rice and a dollop of their tomato chutney. You can get any dish mild or spicy. I’m sure you know which one I chose. I thought the curry had decent flavor, the pumpkin nicely pureed. The dhal underneath was also wonderfully prepared. A great job with the tomato chutney. Excellent job on the basmati rice. Their version of spicy might be so for the average person. I basically didn’t notice and kept right on eating. But frankly, I would have liked more curry and dhal covering that bed of rice. It may be shocking coming from a person born in Hawaii — where rice is basically its own food group. But I just feel like I’d like more of the main dish. I also tried a red chile paste served on the side. It has an explosive fruity taste with a slight kick on the back end. Overall, it’s a good-sized portion that should satisfy a normal eater. I’m far from normal. The curry stir fry dishes sound very appealing. According to the menu, it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free. Basically their curry in coconut milk with veggies and optional choice of protein. Prices range from $ 6.75 to $ 8.50. The curry fried rice also sounds like a winner. It’s made to order and includes broccoli, carrots, ginger, garlic, yellow onion, and their homemade curry sauce. If adding your choice of protein, prices range from $ 7 to $ 9. I’ve also heard positive comments on the Jackfruit Curry special and their Roti. I think this food cart is still worth trying out. Perhaps next time I’ll go with a curry fried rice dish or a curry stir fry.

Food was really good and quite spicy. I had their chicken fried rice. Probably my favorite part of the whole meal was the roasted chili peppers they served with the meal. Wow, that was hot, but they didn’t give me a lot. I’ll probably come back here to try other items on the menu.

Really nice people, really bland food. A co-worker and I went for lunch today, asked for the best thing on the menu and were directed to the pork curry, the guy said it was his fave. Its not that the food was bad, it just wasn’t good. I was hoping there was going to be big flavors and amazing curry… just not. Can’t speak to the vegetarian options(and there were tons) but for me it was a miss.

Stopped at Fiji for some down home Indian grub on my way home from the Gorge last week, and was really impressed. I came as part of a large group, with varied tastes and varied prior exposure to Indian food. The wait time was around 20 minutes for 6 entrees, but everyone loved their meals. The owner was super friendly, and brought out a bunch of complimentary dal soups for us to try out.

While trying to think of a premise for this review, I was coming up shorter than Gimli trying to ride the Teacups. But that’s when I realized that my vacuum of thoughts paralleled the vacuum of emotion with which I left Fiji Indian Curry. When Fijian and Indian flavors are knitted together, the result should be one of the most brilliant cuisines known to man — a humble cuisine, in which screaming curries play tug-of-war in your mouth with curtains of coconut cream and taro leaves. But this food cart — parked in a gravelly lot with some other moveable feasts — is playing with a frayed rope that snaps upon contact with your tongue, causing the flavors to plummet backward into crippled piles. Fiji Indian Curry’s menu is brief but well-thought-out. Curries(meat or vegan) and curry fried rices comprise the everyday offerings, each available with the customer’s choice of protein. A handful of specials are made available, presumably on a rotating or availability basis. I quickly decided on the jackfruit curry($ 6), served tucked into a pair of homemade roti. This jackfruit was special. It was fleshy, almost sinewy, with a curious depth of flavor that’s so meaty it makes you gnash your teeth a bit harder. Seasoned with a subtle masala of mostly mustard seeds and cumin, this was a pleasant but tepid curry. The homemade roti was chewy and soft, if not a smidge too thick. The curry fried rice was a disappointment. Dull and devoid of flavor, this rice was crying for a squeeze of lime juice or achar like a lost child cries for his mommy. This wasn’t lost at the State Capitol Building kind of crying for mommy, but lost at a busy Wal-Mart™ on Christmas eve kind of crying for mommy. Fiji Indian Curry is like when your partner teases you all day, then falls asleep before you get into bed — you’re waiting and waiting for the brilliance of Fijian-Indian food to surprise and thrill you, but you eventually leave unfulfilled and wondering what could have been.

The food is great, the owners nice. Cheap and good, plenty of options for vegetarians and gluten free folks. Definitely worth at least one try.
